How to hook up and tow a trailer. Hook up a trailer to your hitch correctly! This 10 minute video shows you the basics of how to connect a trailer to your vehicle in close up detail what each part does and how to check to make sure it's connected to your tow vehicle correctly. Whether you are towing a boat or towing any other type of trailer, it is important to know the basics and have it hooked up correctly to your vehicle. Connecting a trailer seems easy but there's a few safety steps along the way to ensure you've done it correctly. You never want to be the person whose trailer becomes disconnected going down the road. This video shows how all the parts connect - the hitch, the ball, the receiver and the hitch latch and locking pin. become more knowledgeable and confident when you tow by understanding why each part is there, and making sure each part is in good working order.

Thank you! I especially appreciate that you had no camera or helper. I am about to take an old van and connect it to a trailer by myself for my first try. Most, ball latches have a nut under the " tab " assembly to adjust for a 2" or 1⅞ " ball. Keep up the good work. :)

thanks bro youre a legend i just got a boat the other day and i tried connecting the trailer to my ball joint didnt even know there was a size and it came off slammed in the back of my truck lol good thing it made a hole in my license plate and nothing else but now i am going to check the correct size and make sure i lock it how you did because mine is very similar to yours and get this boat a goin THANK YOU!

Nice video. Those tennis balls on a telescoping rod with a magnetic base worked good for me when hooking up. I would even use them when I had a helper.

My Pop always said keep a 2 x 4 cut to fit under your trailer so all the weight is resting on your wheel once you're done for the day.
