If you won't kill Amy, won't Sarah Lindwall be the last living human? Why is the topic of her totally forgotten? She asked for a help. Simon was feeling guilty of killing a walking around robot with a mind of a dude who went crazy and was thinking he is at work, but he wasn't feeling guilty after disconnecting a real human from a machine causing killing her or feeling bad of leaving her. He never told Catherine about her. Never mentioned he found her to Sarah even if they were talking about survived people. I feel like the topic of Amy was added at the very end of the story.

I think in this game there is some kind of ethical question, every time it comes to this events ingame, where you have to decide about life and death of another person, which is not able to help themselves. I was thinking myself a lot, should i kill amy or not? (And at the other NPCs which are kill-able). I think it is like this: Every time you encounter a "victim" in this game, where you have the choice, you can tell by the victims behaviour, if this person is in pain or agony, of is this person is (even in illusion) living a livable life (or enjoiing it).
1:08:08 Amy in this case, says "dont hurt me" / "it wont let me die". She says that i should find a person and tell them that amy needs help. In this case it is kind of unclear if you should let her die. But if you keep in mind that the facilty is broken down, mankind kind of erased and no one will help her - i think the best decision is to disconnect her from the machine.
The part where I had to take out one of these robots, was without a choice. Both of them robots had an artifical intelligence, the machine may had an human intelligence, but it is not clear if it was only artifical - in the game you can find documents which tell you that this robots do usual not have a human intelligence inside them, only AI.
The best way would be to leave them like they are, but you are forced to take one out - AI or a robot capable of carrying a human mind. Just for own purpose, as the robot you decide to take down is not in any pain or bad mood. I think this maybe led to more bad feeling about killing the robot for own purposes.
Amy in that case was doomed to be left alone in that state, connected to the AI. And she wanted help as she said there.
Maybe there are no much bad feeling about that, because the player is more like "i have given her salvation and she will not suffer in eternity waiting for help which will never arrive".
Thats only how i see it, maybe im mistaken and my ethical judgementation is just cruel XD
But i agree with you that the reactions of the player sometimes is some kind of misplaced.
Remember the end where he freaks out and the last thing he told catherine "fvck you" before she goes broke.
But in fact, catherine has told him that its not possible to transfer a mind, only to copy it.
Maybe he should be proud, that out there a copy of him is on the arc.
