I suspect more competent lawyers refused to take on such a toxic client. It wouldn't take long for a lawyer to realise she was lying, because when they would start asking for evidence to provide in court, she would either have had to admit she had nothing to back up or claims, or would have provided evidence that actually exposed her lies. Elaine and her team were incompetent if they did not quickly realise that Heard was a liar.
I think they truly showed her how incompetent she is at her job,& thats another HUGE reason shes angry. Not only bc her side lost, but because even with that she was given, they didn't do that great of a job defending her. EVEN THOUGH , there wasnt much to defend
I again point out that Elaine, as an attorney, is held to a higher standard with regards to behavior and professionalism. To be making claims about jury tampering without evidence, comparing cases they as legal professionals KNOW to be incomparable, openly criticizing the judge on evidentiary rulings and generally repeating statements that have been ruled to be false in a court of law... she is basically begging to be censured and possibly sued.
It really almost feels like she does it on purpose at this point. Like, is this woman seriously sabotaging her client? I can't possibly fathom another reason for Elaine to be doing this at this point in time.

I don't know if Bruce Rivers covered that portion, but attorney Tom did and it was just surprising that I (someone who watches TH-cam lawyer and definitely don't know that much about the law) I'm pretty sure I have a better understanding of the rules of evidence than Elaine who is as far as I know a top dollar attorney. She literally couldn't ask hardly even a single question because she kept violating the rules of evidence.

About the "victims advocates" that find the verdict "a setback", I find it absurd...didnt they notice there WAS a victim in this case? And he got justice! What kind of victims advocate rejects a victim because they are a man, and not only that, but sends a message to all other male victims that they will not be believed, but hounded and accused even more! Sadly some Women have more of an agenda (and use helping victims to further it) I've seen it and called BS to it and it doesn't go down well. If there is any "setback" isn't the fault with the person who brought false allegations to the public? We should look at all victims of violence as human first, their sex is irrelevant. I'm hoping this trial might encourage men to speak up and be believed and for us to be able to have a dialogue about it that doesn't include any sexism. Wouldn't that be nice.

It may not be as common, but there are many men abused by wives, girlfriends, husbands, boyfriends, etc. who don't say anything about it because they would be rediculed and embarrassed. Sometimes they're even killed by their partners. However, I expect most victims of abuse - domestic, sexual, or whatever - would be females and Miss Heard just made things more difficult for them, NOT Mr Depp or his legal team.

I'm a jury coordinator, the people that show up for jury duty overwhelmingly take their duty very seriously. They're asking questions to make sure they're following the rules and there's no conflicts. Most have canceled plans or had to take time off work, they want it to count, they want to do a good job. It's so insulting to those people for the lawyers to know the whole process and then turn around and blame the jurors for their loss.

I commented earlier; my husband was a juror on a couple cases, and I was totally shocked to learn that. He NEVER talked about it, until he was called for the 3rd time he was rejected because of his "punishment" answer. So yes, jurors do take their task seriously.
If the cause of the “MeToo” movement has been harmed in any way, the injury was caused by Amber Heard. She lied. Her lies were insulting to the intellect of the jury. In it’s early days, the MeToo movement was focused on the victims of DV having a voice, getting a hearing, being taken seriously, that’s what happened here. The movement should reject Amber as it’s spokes person. A high profile position for her would certainly do more harm than good.
I don't like the reaction of numerous speakers for the movement at all. What they are virtually saying is: "It doesn't matter if allegations are false and are being presented by the abuser". They have been confronted with the "everything-is-a-lie"-narrative by bro-culturists and right-wing activists all of the time, which was gradually debunked, esp. after the verdict against Weinstein and Cosby. But now they make it seem like they are acting exactly the way their opponents always wanted them to act. They also had a chance to acknowledge that men are victims of abuse, too. That there are narcisstic people who are lying and are miscrediting the whole movement in the process. This would've been admirable and a chance to be more credible. It's really sad to see that some of these activists with a normally just and good cause are standing by the abuser - just for the fact that the abuser happen to be a woman. It's disgusting.
Like many movements, MeToo is filled with elements taking it over for personal gain. There was a whisper network in the US comic industry accusing men, co-ordinating via a hidden facebook group to get them fired and advance their own careers at the expense of male co-workers and their lives. Ben Chew is clearly among the best of the best in the field, and through his experience it seems like he decided / mutually agreed that it was a better tactic to have Camille Vasquez grill AH as if it was a man asking the exact same questions / saying the same thing in the same tone, 3rd-wave feminists would be absolutely up in arms saying that AH was harassed on the stand - which looks like exactly what AH wanted, as it would have played into her hand, the attempted Bambi-eyes tactic. Sending Camille in was a total curveball that AH absolutely was NOT prepared for.

I found it more than a little repulsive when Elaine did her interviews. One, it is pretty obvious her responses were a canned script that was probably put together by Heard's legal and PR teams. And it is more spin than anything. Two, Elaine knows that there is no way in hell, notes from a therapy session post incident are getting into evidence as it is all hearsay unless that therapist notes actual injuries on the client in their notes. The therapist can't testify nor can the therapist notes be admitted. Heard's team knows this. Three, if anybody got an advantage from the break it is Heard's team. They got the opportunity to do a "do over". Ask questions to clean up previous testimony. And to be honest, I think they tried to do just that. And because of a lack of physical evidence, they tried to get Heard to testify on her feelings and emotions which Depp's team killed real quick and rightly so. The only thing that I found surprising in this trial is that once the jury decided to side with Depp, they also sided with Heard. Because if you believe Depp was defamed, then that would make his ex-attorney's comments correct and thus not defaming Heard. If this jury did take into consideration the UK trial it was likely in their decision on Heard's defamation lawsuit and that is why they sided with her, because another court had already ruled in The Sun's favor which could be argued that they ruled in hers. And finally, no the UK trial and the US trial have nothing in common. Different rules and different parties. Amber Heard was a witness in the UK trial and not a defendant. And the judge chose to take AH at her word. (Which I question that a lot. I mean seriously, the guy was either on the take or very naïve.) And one talking point of Depp's supporters doesn't jive though. Did this UK judge retire? Yes, but based on internet research it wasn't immediately after the Depp trial is was a year later. The two things aren't connected.

My mother was on a jury a long time ago dealing with a female defendant who had been violent (she won't tell me specifics), and she noticed that in deliberation the men on the jury were sympathetic, but the women absolutely were NOT. They were adamant that this defendant be held accountable for her actions, and not be coddled or let off the hook for something she ought to have had enough self-control not to do. On that note, the people I saw online being the most vociferously critical of Amber were female DV/DA survivors. They were *furious* with her, and I don't blame them.

RottenBorn told the jury in closing that they needed to “send.a message “ to society about women and domestic violence, etc. but asking a jury to do that is actually prohibited. Juries are to focus on the specific trial, not try to give a ruling that would “send a message to society “. Ben Chew filed a motion asking the court to address this.
It was so incredibly low and disrespectful of Elaine to throw the jury under the bus. These 7 people gave up 6 weeks of their lives to show up every day to sit and hear , consider and process hard testimonies….in service to justice. I think throwing the jury so much disrespect was the most egregious of all of Elaine’s missteps. At the end of the verdict I was beginning to feel a little sympathetic towards Elaine, given she had a really wild client, but after her poison pill media tour I was way over Elaine

I also tried to tell myself that Elaine was just representing a terrible woman but all of her witnesses were as whacky as her so I realized in hindsight that she really couldn’t find *anyone* decent to help her case because it couldn’t have been helped with the blatant admissions in so many recordings. How dare Elaine continue to lie and just keep saying “mountain of evidence” with no freaking evidence it’s so ridiculous. Actually, Elaine was terrible all the way. She and also Rottenborn. Elaine even gave some points to Depp. Like when she asked and probed intensly the Warner Brothers witness about the poor chemistry between Amber and Momoa. For to realy make it clear, and for the jury to remember. The many simular questions about makeup she asked both men, Isaac and the doorman who drove away, was like a joke. Isaac hade to laught at her. She also made it possible for the jury, throught their witness to know about the justiceforjohnny- hashtag and very high popularity, without them needing to seak social media.
She also threw the judge under the bus for saying that evidence was suppressed - that statement ties directly to the judge's decision. I'm guessing that's why she is no longer doing any interviews because she was admonished by either the judge or a legal body. Elaine is seriously incompetent and an inept lawyer - she's accomplished only within that description.
I firmly believe if social media would have swayed the jury in Johnny's favor, the verdict wouldn't have taken as long as it did. The amount of time it took tells me the jury made their decision solely on the evidence presented.
This argument from Team Heard is completely ridiculous considering they literally brought in evidence showing how overwhelming the support for Johnny was on social media by showing the hashtags! If they didn’t want jury knowing public opinion then they shouldn’t of brought in that evidence! So maybe the jury was swayed by social media, but only from the evidence of it shown in court
I’ve been on four juries (ended up being the alternate on one of them) and can tell you that I and all the other jurors for those trials took the whole process seriously. You take an oath, and you know that the decision you will be making will have a serious effect on several lives. We took the Court’s instructions to heart. Elaine should be ashamed of herself. That jury was there for over six weeks which is a grueling job.They deserve a great deal of thanks, not derision. If Elaine et al were so worried about the jury’s being influenced by social media, they should blame themselves for not knowing what their own witnesses were going to say on the stand. THEY opened up that whole can of worms…..so much so, the jury heard, not once but twice, AH’s social media moniker: “Amber Turd”. I understand that they had a very difficult client, but Turd’s legal team were what she deserved!
The best thing that Johnny's lawyers have done is to remain respectful to everyone involved including the other lawyers, the defendant, and the jury. We have a legal process and you can't just cry foul if you don't win the case.

Well here's the thing. The general public watched this trial and heard all the evidence and came to an overwhelmingly unanimous conclusion that Johnny Depp was innocent. Are millions of people being persuaded by some illusive factor? No. We watched, we listened, we concluded.
Elaine really is clueless. She could have done the interviews and basically just said "We felt the evidence supported our client and that we had a strong case and we were disappointed that the jury didn't see things that way" instead of going after Depp again, his lawyers, the jury and even the judge and suggesting it's all their fault their client lost. Depp's team by contrast managed to be gracious winners - they could easily have complained about the fact that one of Heard's claims was successful, and blamed everyone but themselves for that happening but instead they brush right past that and just push home the point that their client was found to be telling the truth that he did not abuse his ex-wife, and that the verdict vindicates him and not Heard.
Yes she should have said exactly that, and left it there. She should have kept it short and sweet, and accepted the jury's decision gracefully. That would have made her look a lot better, and would've been a lot better for her career in the long run. Her blaming the jury, and calling it a setback for women, just sounded stupid. It was only a setback for people in general, who lie in court. That was a dumb thing for her to say.

When I was watching the Heard vs. Depp civil trial. I saw right away the HUGE difference in the way Amber's lawyers and Depp's lawyers questioned the witnesses. There was also a different level of professionalism and credibility in their expert witnesses.
Absolutely. It was like night and day, the difference was so stark. Ambers camp approached witnesses being so disrespectful, and asked ridiculous questions, or at times just badgered them, asking the same question over and over, expecting to catch them in something, or on just one word. It was so cringy to watch. Elaine even questioned that cop, badgering them, and reminding them of their code, as if they were lying! The audacity. They don’t have a horse in the race. So ridiculous. Then the tmz guy? So inappropriate of Elaine. Loved his response. Funny everything she accused the witnesses of, she is actually doing with all these press releases. Crazy that the legal representation here on both sides is an extension of their client.
Ben Chew did another interview (Law and Crime Network?) and when asked about how Johnny felt when he heard the verdict, Ben tears up and gets choked up explaining how he got his life back. Boy, I started to cry too.
I saw Ben Chew in an interview get very emotional regarding JD's reaction to getting his life back. To me that signifies someone with a real human perspective that I think can get lost in big trials like this, especially from the lead male lawyer on the team. Depp's whole team is so classy and professional and real.
I really believe that the MOST important issue to be highlighted in this trial is the truth that domestic violence is NOT gender specific! As a woman in her late 60s I have witnessed many times, abuses - physical as well as emotional and psychological - perpetrated on ALL members in families. I am so happy that society can now see that irrespective of gender, wealth or position, anyone can be a victim or a perpetrator of domestic abuse!
@@Joel-uv5tg the way i see it, it is quite likely that men who are victims of DV are even less willing to report it than women, for they may feel like they would give up the very little masculinity "pride" they have left in their situation ("you're a man, so you have no excuse to not defend yourself against women who are weaker than you"). i would even argue it may be on the same level as trying to make men publicly admit they have ED (not to say the 2 may even be related in part).

Let me just say that this has inspired my 10 yr old daughter to want to become a lawyer. She has seen me watch snippets of the trial, and she thinks Camille is the coolest person she's ever seen. I think it helps that she is also younger and obviously takes care of her appearance. So no Amber, this doesn't set women back. My daughter, who is from a single working-class mother, is inspired to go to law school and be a mini Camille. I wonder in 10/20 yrs how many female lawyers will say that Camille's performance inspired them to pursue law.

Thanks for your comments. I've been a solicitor (attorney) in England for 41 years and starting watching the trial just out of interest. Although I admired Depp as an actor I held no candle for him. I was by the end of the trial convinced that J.Depp should prevail, having watched Amber Heard in the witness box, I became convinced that she wasn't telling the truth. I also felt her lawyers were wanting and to be frank, outclassed. The closing of both sets of lawyers was a mile apart. I don't think Amber Heard's did anything wrong, they didn't appear to make the best of what they had and seemed 2nd division compared to Depp's team. It is hard to make a case without the evidence as in the old saying of "you can't make bricks without straw". For me the the outstanding part was Ben Rottenborn objecting to the evidence of his own witness!!

@@karadiberlino the OP meant that it’s not a pleasant “job”. It’s tedious, unpleasant at times, and took much of their time away from things they would rather do. It’s taking their time away from their family and friends. They didn’t choose to be there. Quite frankly, i think we can all agree, they would rather not be part of the jury if possible, but it is their responsibility. So once at home, it makes more sense, to not give more of their time on the case and focus on what they have been missing out on their lives.
For those in need of a little more context - my sarcastic comment is in reference to the accusation by AH's attorney that jurors went home at night and searched social media for additional trial information. I could not believe AH's attorney would impugn the jury without any evidence.
I went on social media and supported JD, without pressure or payment lol, for 1 reason. And I'm not the only one.. being a real DV survivor I recognized the abuser, cause I've been through that hell myself. It triggered my ptsd big time. Every time AH lawyers claimed I and many others were part of an orchestrated campaign made me feel offended and angry. It still does rewatching the trial.

I felt for Elaine during the trial. I really believe Amber Heard was running the show. But when she went on a media tour saying these patently false things; I lost that sympathy. She should be ashamed of herself!
Its incredible to me that Heard's lawyer seems to think that a trial means nothing, just an accusation which should be believed regardless of evidence or lack thereof. That is childish thinking.

I liked how near the end of the trial the defendants switched from having the prosecution prove heard's; malice, writing of the Op-ed to her first amendment right. Edit: I didnt like, I thought it was cheap and insulting to the Jury that they'd fall for such a weak argument.
You're right. This is easier to do when on the winning side. Still, those two remained classy and professional in their interviews, and made it about their client than anything else. Chew and Vasquez are what you would want in a lawyer, whether you win or lose. When it comes to jury duty, even though I never got to make a decision in a case, just the process I've seen in jury selection or us not being allowed to use social media at all was strict. Elaine was insulting the whole justice system just because she couldn't win with those obvious and flimsy lies. Finally, I never even thought much of Vasquez being a female lawyer. All I saw was a lawyer doing her job professionally as all lawyers should. So when she mentioned both times how she hoped to be an influence to girls to get into her profession, that felt powerful. Where AH claims to be a role model through fluff, Vasquez showed us through action what a role model really looks like. And just think, a woman who is strong, smart, independent, and hard working able to go out there, be on the level of men in her field, and essentially save a man's life. That is true equality right there.
this was a victory for me too. Johnny was a victim of D.A and he won. men and women should stand together in the fight against D.V this is a good day even if some people can't see it. And with all the pressure everyone was under I think all most everyone involved in this case did a good job .but Johnnys Team was awesome
I'm glad Elaine's criticism of the jury came up later. Imagine giving up those weeks of your life and salary to be accused of betraying your oath?! I appreciated how Camille answered almost all the questions as "we," spreading the success.
I believe the cancellation of Elaine's interview on "Law and Crime" was due to the realization that her comments on other television networks were baseless and potentially defamatory. We have seen Elaine doing anymore interviews as she must be aware of potential defamatory litigation.
I absolutely believe that even if the roles were reversed and Johnny's team had lost, Ben and Camille still would have reacted with class and professionalism. They wouldn't have gone on national television the next day blaming the judge, jury and the world for the loss. And I think had Amber's team won they would have acted equally as terrible as they have. There is such a thing as being a sore winner too. Such stark differences between the two teams. They both match the class and character of their respective clients. I am so happy that Johnny was able to tell his story and at the end of the day that trial was Amber's to lose and she did just that. Truly evil. I agree. I was in awe of her listening to her asking questions of the witnesses then in her summing up at the end it was like WQW!! She's has an incredible astute mind, it's like a laser beam, she homes in on the evidence and nobody can get away however much they try to wriggle away from her grip. She was so well organised in her whole questioning of witnesses, she could pull up a record in seconds for the Jury to see on their screens whereas Elaine spent minutes shuffling through sheets of paper on her desk trying to find what she needed whilst the Judge and the Jury sat twiddling their thumbs waiting for her to find the sheet of paper she was looking for. She was a complete embarrassment to the legal profession.
It was clear that Amber's other attorneys were nowhere to be seen. Their hugs at the end was an embarrassment...Elaine looked over at Johnny's team and they were all hugging so she turned around and started hugging Amber, then Amber turned to Rothenberg and started hugging him then the others and it was all very awkward looking. I believe, except for Elaine, they were very glad it was over. Elaine is the only one on TV or in public anywhere speaking on Amber's behalf.
Hopefully it will help put a stop to this "believe all women" nonsense, but unfortunately most men don't have JD's money to defend themselves against the court systems in similar situations as he was in with AH.
Hi Bruce. Court TV did an interview with Chew on his own. One question asked was about him getting a little emotional in the court during his closing as he started getting a little emotional in the interview. No one seems to notice him saying he and the rest of the lawyers believed JD and in JD. The emotions stems from knowing an innocent man won. A very emotional thing.
Full marks to Camilla's firm : 1. Recognising the importance of having a woman undertake the cross examination instead of a man 2. Not having too much male ego to step.back from that prosecutorial rôle 3. I don't think it was so much about ego as preparation. If a man would've went at Amber in cross the same way Camille did it coukdve come across as bullying. Having a woman do it was very smart on their part. Plus she did a fantastic job
The fact of the matter is Elaine and Amber's team went into this trial just expecting to be believed. They felt entitled to be believed. Johnny's team went into the trial on a mission to really delve into the evidence and impeach amber and her witnesses. When they started the trial, you could feel that sense of entitlement from Amber's lawyers and by the time they realized this was going to be a real battle, they were immediately overwhelmed and could not handle the scrutiny. They got their ass kicked, plain and simple. Their client is a liar and they were gullible and had some real issues with confirmation bias. If you notice, only Elaine went on her little 15 minutes of fame press tour and Elaine was the only one really interacting with amber by the end of the trial. I think that's because, if the other lawyers actually believed her heading into the trial (doubtful), they absolutely did not believe her by the end and were probably extremely angry that amber lied to them so much. So many instances where their line of questioning was based on a lie amber told and they looked terrible when the witnesses flat out denied much of what she claimed happened (muffins, the foyer incident). Elaine's ego was hurt, that's why she's lashing out and marking her territory everywhere like a dog that just lost a fight. For her, it's got as much to do with women's right to be believed as it does to amber: not at all. It's about their egos, plain and simple.
The first and greatest mistake AH's team made was putting Elaine in charge. She had nowhere near the level of experience, skill or charisma Rottenborn had. Sure, his lines of questioning seemed dirty and low blows at times, but what are you going to do when your client is obviously in the wrong? He knew what he was doing but Elaine's antics as well as Amber's time on the stand erased any chance he might have had. They didn't do any press tours because they didn't have to; anyone with two brain cells would want the dubious honour of "defended Amber Heard" to be forgotten somewhere in the middle of their CV. If that pisses off Amber? so what? she still has to pay them.
I felt they spent too much time looking at the UK case. Could only have been confusing for the jury. Elaine was the general fighting the previous battle. Also stupid because she knew that the 2 major reasons for the judge's rulings were false.....donated 7 mil and Drew contradicted by the body cam.
I agree with absolutely everything you said. I would add or change that the best part of Vasquez’s cross was that she used Amber’s own words against her. And her ex-friends. I think the donate v pledge thing was when it was clear that this abuser manipulated her words and tries to gaslight. It was evident on the stand which amplified the importance of the audio clips as well.

Something that I noticed. When Amber was testifying and seemed to be droning on, Camille would object--non-responsive or irrelevant or some other objection. And then even if it was overruled--which it often was--Amber seemed to lose track of what she was saying and then wait for another question. So, it seems the objection served it's purpose?
Thank you Bruce for your wonderful videos in dissecting this trial. I followed it from the moment it started, I'm retired so was able to watch it all day every day and I was addicted to it. I have no legal training but I have a brain and I followed the questioning hour after hour and it came apparent that AH was making things up as she went along, she constantly contradicted herself in her testimony, and as for her "crying" episodes she made herself look pathetic, screwing her face up pretending to cry when she couldn't produce any tears. Even her acting coach said she was useless at trying to cry then obviously after she'd read the comments on the internet she produced something that made her nose run whenever she put a tissue up to her nose to make her nose run, she dabbed it with her tissue then wiped her nose with the back of her hand, just for effect. As for the voice recordings, i couldn't believe what I was listening to, her goading Johnny over and over when he was trying to get away from her, she followed him from room to room and then called him "a cry baby". A woman who is being abused by their partner and is supposedly afraid of him doesn't follow him around taping their conversations, you would leave well alone and isolate yourself from your abuser in case you got another beating. She obviously sunk herself in the trial, the Jury heard it all as we all did on worldwide TV, they didn't need to be swayed by social media, the believable witnesses that came forward, who AH said were all lying and her own disregard of all the evidence finished her off and no doubt Elaine's future career. She was an appalling lawyer, in fact I felt sorry for her at some points in the trial she was so bad.
Heard’s lawyer revealed her ethics when she basically said, “naturally, anyone would talk about it even after repeated admonitions from the judge”. When a person like her says “everybody does it”, they mean they do it. I suspect Heard hired her because she didn’t want to spend any more than she had to and they clicked on an emotional, poor-me level. So the good lawyer becomes partner and the bad lawyer has to hustle to get work in spite of her “fifteen minutes of fame”. I think that’s why she went public to say the trial was rigged, not her fault-another poor-me argument….continuing her public presentation of what a bad lawyer she is.
I'm surprised that I haven't seen anyone bring up the fact that Amber heard's own attorneys brought the social media component into the trial. They literally brought #JusticeforJohnnyDepp and #amberturd into the trial and told the jury about it. They told the jury how popular Johnny Depp was on social media. The jury did not need to look on social media to know that. It was disclosed to them by Amber heard's own team.
JD’s team clearly cares for him. And it’s wonderful to see. They also seem like genuinely good people. It’s refreshing especially when it comes to lawyers because you don’t always associate that with a lawyer. Or at least, I didn’t always. They did such a great job and the case was a fair one.
It’s insulting to the jury to say that they can’t do the job they were called on to do. The jury got it right and if this is a bad jury then we need more juries like them.
Thank you for all these videos, Bruce. They are so educational and fun! I grew up being physically, emotionally and verbally abused by my mother. I witnessed how my father was abused by my mother. He stayed in the marriage thinking that maintaining a family would be good for the children (and realized that he was wrong after too much harm has been done). We all ended up miserable. Watching the Depp v. Heard case can be painful at times, especially a lot of the things Ms. Heard said were said by my mother when she was harassing us. I hope this case would remind people that men can be domestic violence victims too. People need to stop assuming (1) all mothers love their children and (2) only women can be victims. I am a woman but I'm against the "trust all women" movement. I am all for "trust the truth" and "investigate all allegations."
Honestly, I think the jurors were probably aware of the media talking about the trial, but I do believe wholeheartedly that all the jurors voted with their own judgment. That’s what matters.
I definitely think they voted based on their own judgement and the evidence presented to them in court. If the jurors decided based on social media, I think they would have made their decision quicker, would have awarded Johnny more money and would not have given Amber a dime. The fact that they gave Amber any money at all, shows me that social media didn’t influence them
The jury was certainly aware the case was being talked about online, because Amber and her team kept bringing it up!! It was kind of hard not to notice. It still annoys me that AH, (like the SA story she stole from her PA), stole the microwave baby story from the Rebekah Vardy libel case word for word. AH was obviously not only perusing social media, but researching for information to bring into the trial to add weight to her testimony. I think all AH and Elaine's allegations against the integrity of the judge and jury are just reflections of their own LACK OF integrity. Heard thinks nothing of blatantly lying under oath, so everyone else must also not take their oaths seriously. She goes on social media to research things, so they must do so too. Thankfully, she was wrong and the jury and judge all ethically and honorably held to their oaths in what must have been a nightmare of a case to sit through!
Elaine's decision to go and blame EVERYONE except her client and her team is so unprofessional that it is laughable and disrespectful to all parties. If I interviewed her, I'd start with "Elaine, are you still milking your 15 minutes of fame or are you done soon ?"

It looked like AH and her team went into this trial leaning heavily on the result of the UK trial, therefore greatly underestimating this trial. It seemed as if they were taken by surprise by the very strong and unwavering attitude of team JD. The seemingly never-ending calls for objection, that were more often than not granted by the judge, appeared to have taken back the lawyers in team AH, which was especially clear to see in the often flustered face of EB. I first thought that the somewhat silly, clumsy appearance of EB was an act, in an attempt to gain sympathy from the jury, but the further we got into the hearings, it became more clear that it wasn’t an act, but rather a display of inability, turning into the obvious frustration that we all witnessed in the behavior of, again, especially EB. They went in way too overconfident and came out losing for all the right reasons!!
Yes, exactly. AH and her team went in thinking that the trial was a waste of time because of course it would go in her favour. That was obvious in Amber's smirks and dismissive attitutde early on. They probably also thought they had the upper hand as AH got to tell her side of the story last. But as the trial went on Amber and her team began to crack and realise that it was actually turning very bad for them, as they were up against a rock solid legal team, and that her "amazing" acting skills weren't pulling the wool over anyone's eyes in that courtroom.

I almost cried not being able to laugh at the sour grapes statement. I started to laugh, but had change it to a cough, due to where I am at the moment. Lawyer Bruce said, "When you are eating sour grapes, your face looks like Elaine's". Oh my!
All you gotta do is watch Amber’s 2016 depo and listen to the tapes that dropped, all the known tapes that we just listened to in the trial and you’ll know why everybody supports Depp.
In point of fact one of the "Founders" of the Me Too movement congratulated JD and said it was a victory to all "True Victims " of abuse. Also an international group for victims advocacy also congratulated and wished him well. On Social Media there have been overwhelming numbers of women and some men as well who are survivors of everything AH alleged were all over pro JD channels and absolutely furious about what AH was using to level her accusations at JD. The overwhelming consensus was she was full of sh*t and they were extremely pissed off at her.
That last comment was pure facts. If there is a social impact from this trial it is how Camille was a positive rolemodel for women's empowerment and showed how women can succeed in their roles on a high level and at high stakes and at the same time still be modest and humble persons. This sends a stronger message to all women to take their life in their own hands than anything else.

When Elaine mentioned the 10 day break during the trial she "forgot" to mention that the judge had mentioned that she had a meeting in that period on fixing the dates for the trial and therefore the two parties knew beforehand and accepted the conditions so she has no ground to complain about it now. Unless....she was expecting crowds outside the court cheering her client and it apparently backfired.
I feel that when Elaine said that AH could not afford her judgement, that she unknowingly launched her client into a complete SM swarm of embarrassment. She ( Elaine) dropped an big interview (last minute) with a bs reason, then didn’t reschedule. She just disappeared. My thought, is that a narcissist like Amber literally told Elaine to shut the F up. I think she got reigned in by her own client and team after they saw the damage Elaine caused.
Personally I doubt Heard told her to stop doing the appearances - in fact I suspect it was her idea for Elaine to do these interviews in the first place thinking she still has a chance to change peoples mind about her. I suspect it was the PR firm who told Elaine to stop doing these interviews, or told Heard to tell Elaine to stop them because they were doing more harm than good. Heard likely thinks she can still win this - win the appeal, win back the public and live happily ever after - people like her can never accept defeat. Plus it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing for the public to know Heard is broke - that gives her another excuse for failing to donate what she pledged to donate, as well as an excuse to not pay Depp what he is owed.
The next Amber Heard trial will be the criminal case for the murder of Elaine. It might have been AH's idea that the interviews happen (actually that is the most likely outcome), but like any other thing in her life, she's not going to accept responsibility for it, she's just going to blame Elaine for the eventual mess those interviews cause.

She can't. That is their only ground for appeal....that Amber had incompetent lawyers....
I suspect more competent lawyers refused to take on such a toxic client. It wouldn't take long for a lawyer to realise she was lying, because when they would start asking for evidence to provide in court, she would either have had to admit she had nothing to back up or claims, or would have provided evidence that actually exposed her lies. Elaine and her team were incompetent if they did not quickly realise that Heard was a liar.

I again point out that Elaine, as an attorney, is held to a higher standard with regards to behavior and professionalism. To be making claims about jury tampering without evidence, comparing cases they as legal professionals KNOW to be incomparable, openly criticizing the judge on evidentiary rulings and generally repeating statements that have been ruled to be false in a court of law... she is basically begging to be censured and possibly sued.
It really almost feels like she does it on purpose at this point. Like, is this woman seriously sabotaging her client? I can't possibly fathom another reason for Elaine to be doing this at this point in time.

I don't know if Bruce Rivers covered that portion, but attorney Tom did and it was just surprising that I (someone who watches TH-cam lawyer and definitely don't know that much about the law) I'm pretty sure I have a better understanding of the rules of evidence than Elaine who is as far as I know a top dollar attorney. She literally couldn't ask hardly even a single question because she kept violating the rules of evidence.

Exactly! It may not be as common, but there are many men abused by wives, girlfriends, husbands, boyfriends, etc. who don't say anything about it because they would be rediculed and embarrassed. Sometimes they're even killed by their partners.
However, I expect most victims of abuse - domestic, sexual, or whatever - would be females and Miss Heard just made things more difficult for them, NOT Mr Depp or his legal team.

I'm a jury coordinator, the people that show up for jury duty overwhelmingly take their duty very seriously. They're asking questions to make sure they're following the rules and there's no conflicts. Most have canceled plans or had to take time off work, they want it to count, they want to do a good job. It's so insulting to those people for the lawyers to know the whole process and then turn around and blame the jurors for their loss.

I commented earlier; my husband was a juror on a couple cases, and I was totally shocked to learn that. He NEVER talked about it, until he was called for the 3rd time he was rejected because of his "punishment" answer. So yes, jurors do take their task seriously.

If the cause of the “MeToo” movement has been harmed in any way, the injury was caused by Amber Heard. She lied. Her lies were insulting to the intellect of the jury. In it’s early days, the MeToo movement was focused on the victims of DV having a voice, getting a hearing, being taken seriously, that’s what happened here. The movement should reject Amber as it’s spokes person. A high profile position for her would certainly do more harm than good.

I don't like the reaction of numerous speakers for the movement at all. What they are virtually saying is: "It doesn't matter if allegations are false and are being presented by the abuser". They have been confronted with the "everything-is-a-lie"-narrative by bro-culturists and right-wing activists all of the time, which was gradually debunked, esp. after the verdict against Weinstein and Cosby. But now they make it seem like they are acting exactly the way their opponents always wanted them to act. They also had a chance to acknowledge that men are victims of abuse, too. That there are narcisstic people who are lying and are miscrediting the whole movement in the process. This would've been admirable and a chance to be more credible. It's really sad to see that some of these activists with a normally just and good cause are standing by the abuser - just for the fact that the abuser happen to be a woman. It's disgusting.
Like many movements, MeToo is filled with elements taking it over for personal gain. There was a whisper network in the US comic industry accusing men, co-ordinating via a hidden facebook group to get them fired and advance their own careers at the expense of male co-workers and their lives. There's a lot of misandrists, man haters involved in it on twitter, but that's just twitter in general. Very hateful, vocal people.
The lawyer's on both sides were a reflection of their clients. One side respectful and sincere the other aloof and duplicitous. Well done by the Depp team.

For sure! I absolutely LOVE that they got a young woman (a REAL strong woman) to grill Amber on cross. Ben Chew is clearly among the best of the best in the field, and through his experience it seems like he decided / mutually agreed that it was a better tactic to have Camille Vasquez grill AH as if it was a man asking the exact same questions / saying the same thing in the same tone, 3rd-wave feminists would be absolutely up in arms saying that AH was harassed on the stand - which looks like exactly what AH wanted, as it would have played into her hand, the attempted Bambi-eyes tactic. Sending Camille in was a total curveball that AH absolutely was NOT prepared for.

I found it more than a little repulsive when Elaine did her interviews. One, it is pretty obvious her responses were a canned script that was probably put together by Heard's legal and PR teams. And it is more spin than anything. Two, Elaine knows that there is no way in hell, notes from a therapy session post incident are getting into evidence as it is all hearsay unless that therapist notes actual injuries on the client in their notes. The therapist can't testify nor can the therapist notes be admitted. Heard's team knows this. Three, if anybody got an advantage from the break it is Heard's team. They got the opportunity to do a "do over". Ask questions to clean up previous testimony. And to be honest, I think they tried to do just that. And because of a lack of physical evidence, they tried to get Heard to testify on her feelings and emotions which Depp's team killed real quick and rightly so.
The only thing that I found surprising in this trial is that once the jury decided to side with Depp, they also sided with Heard. Because if you believe Depp was defamed, then that would make his ex-attorney's comments correct and thus not defaming Heard. If this jury did take into consideration the UK trial it was likely in their decision on Heard's defamation lawsuit and that is why they sided with her, because another court had already ruled in The Sun's favor which could be argued that they ruled in hers.
And finally, no the UK trial and the US trial have nothing in common. Different rules and different parties. Amber Heard was a witness in the UK trial and not a defendant. And the judge chose to take AH at her word. (Which I question that a lot. I mean seriously, the guy was either on the take or very naïve.) And one talking point of Depp's supporters doesn't jive though. Did this UK judge retire? Yes, but based on internet research it wasn't immediately after the Depp trial is was a year later. The two things aren't connected.

My mother was on a jury a long time ago dealing with a female defendant who had been violent (she won't tell me specifics), and she noticed that in deliberation the men on the jury were sympathetic, but the women absolutely were NOT. They were adamant that this defendant be held accountable for her actions, and not be coddled or let off the hook for something she ought to have had enough self-control not to do.
On that note, the people I saw online being the most vociferously critical of Amber were female DV/DA survivors. They were *furious* with her, and I don't blame them.

Amen to that. And I’m an atheist! Johnny Depp’s legal team has made me “eat crow” for years of having no use for lawyers and stating so. This knowledgeable, dignified, classy, firm has changed my opinion. Juries are to focus on the specific trial, not try to give a ruling that would “send a message to society “. Ben Chew filed a motion asking the court to address this.
It was so incredibly low and disrespectful of Elaine to throw the jury under the bus. These 7 people gave up 6 weeks of their lives to show up every day to sit and hear , consider and process hard testimonies….in service to justice. I think throwing the jury so much disrespect was the most egregious of all of Elaine’s missteps. At the end of the verdict I was beginning to feel a little sympathetic towards Elaine, given she had a really wild client, but after her poison pill media tour I was way over Elaine

I also tried to tell myself that Elaine was just representing a terrible woman but all of her witnesses were as whacky as her so I realized in hindsight that she really couldn’t find *anyone* decent to help her case because it couldn’t have been helped with the blatant admissions in so many recordings. She also threw the judge under the bus for saying that evidence was suppressed - that statement ties directly to the judge's decision. I'm guessing that's why she is no longer doing any interviews because she was admonished by either the judge or a legal body. I firmly believe if social media would have swayed the jury in Johnny's favor, the verdict wouldn't have taken as long as it did.

If they didn’t want jury knowing public opinion then they shouldn’t of brought in that evidence! So maybe the jury was swayed by social media, but only from the evidence of it shown in court

I’ve been on four juries (ended up being the alternate on one of them) and can tell you that I and all the other jurors for those trials took the whole process seriously. You take an oath, and you know that the decision you will be making will have a serious effect on several lives. We took the Court’s instructions to heart.
Elaine should be ashamed of herself. That jury was there for over six weeks which is a grueling job.They deserve a great deal of thanks, not derision. If Elaine et al were so worried about the jury’s being influenced by social media, they should blame themselves for not knowing what their own witnesses were going to say on the stand. THEY opened up that whole can of worms…..so much so, the jury heard, not once but twice, AH’s social media moniker: “Amber Turd”. I understand that they had a very difficult client, but Turd’s legal team were what she deserved!

The best thing that Johnny's lawyers have done is to remain respectful to everyone involved including the other lawyers, the defendant, and the jury. We have a legal process and you can't just cry foul if you don't win the case.

Elaine really is clueless. She could have done the interviews and basically just said "We felt the evidence supported our client and that we had a strong case and we were disappointed that the jury didn't see things that way" instead of going after Depp again, his lawyers, the jury and even the judge and suggesting it's all their fault their client lost. Depp's team by contrast managed to be gracious winners - they could easily have complained about the fact that one of Heard's claims was successful, and blamed everyone but themselves for that happening but instead they brush right past that and just push home the point that their client was found to be telling the truth that he did not abuse his ex-wife, and that the verdict vindicates him and not Heard.
Yes she should have said exactly that, and left it there. She should have kept it short and sweet, and accepted the jury's decision gracefully. That would have made her look a lot better, and would've been a lot better for her career in the long run. Her blaming the jury, and calling it a setback for women, just sounded stupid. It was only a setback for people in general, who lie in court. That was a dumb thing for her to say.

Elaine could have even said “we were disappointed that some of our evidence was not allowed to be introduced.” Once she used the word ”suppressed” she got on shaky ground. When I was watching the Heard vs. Depp civil trial. I saw right away the HUGE difference in the way Amber's lawyers and Depp's lawyers questioned the witnesses. There was also a different level of professionalism and credibility in their expert witnesses.
Absolutely. It was like night and day, the difference was so stark. Ambers camp approached witnesses being so disrespectful, and asked ridiculous questions, or at times just badgered them, asking the same question over and over, expecting to catch them in something, or on just one word. It was so cringy to watch. Elaine even questioned that cop, badgering them, and reminding them of their code, as if they were lying! The audacity. They don’t have a horse in the race. So ridiculous. Then the tmz guy? So inappropriate of Elaine. Loved his response. Funny everything she accused the witnesses of, she is actually doing with all these press releases. Crazy that the legal representation here on both sides is an extension of their client.
Ben Chew did another interview (Law and Crime Network?) and when asked about how Johnny felt when he heard the verdict, Ben tears up and gets choked up explaining how he got his life back. Boy, I started to cry too.

Depp's legal team is pure class! And, I am glad that Bruce pointed out how well Camille's demeanor and behaviour was an asset for all women.
I saw Ben Chew in an interview get very emotional regarding JD's reaction to getting his life back. To me that signifies someone with a real human perspective that I think can get lost in big trials like this, especially from the lead male lawyer on the team. Depp's whole team is so classy and professional and real.

I really believe that the MOST important issue to be highlighted in this trial is the truth that domestic violence is NOT gender specific!
As a woman in her late 60s I have witnessed many times, abuses - physical as well as emotional and psychological - perpetrated on ALL members in families. I am so happy that society can now see that irrespective of gender, wealth or position, anyone can be a victim or a perpetrator of domestic abuse!

@@Joel-uv5tg the way i see it, it is quite likely that men who are victims of DV are even less willing to report it than women, for they may feel like they would give up the very little masculinity "pride" they have left in their situation ("you're a man, so you have no excuse to not defend yourself against women who are weaker than you"). i would even argue it may be on the same level as trying to make men publicly admit they have ED (not to say the 2 may even be related in part).
Elaine is projecting onto the jury that they were looking at social media and not taking their oath seriously, because her client lied under oath and didn't take her oath seriously.

Let me just say that this has inspired my 10 yr old daughter to want to become a lawyer. She has seen me watch snippets of the trial, and she thinks Camille is the coolest person she's ever seen. I think it helps that she is also younger and obviously takes care of her appearance.
So no Amber, this doesn't set women back. My daughter, who is from a single working-class mother, is inspired to go to law school and be a mini Camille. I wonder in 10/20 yrs how many female lawyers will say that Camille's performance inspired them to pursue law.

Thanks for your comments. I've been a solicitor (attorney) in England for 41 years and starting watching the trial just out of interest. Although I admired Depp as an actor I held no candle for him. I was by the end of the trial convinced that J.Depp should prevail, having watched Amber Heard in the witness box, I became convinced that she wasn't telling the truth. I also felt her lawyers were wanting and to be frank, outclassed. The closing of both sets of lawyers was a mile apart. I don't think Amber Heard's did anything wrong, they didn't appear to make the best of what they had and seemed 2nd division compared to Depp's team. It is hard to make a case without the evidence as in the old saying of "you can't make bricks without straw". For me the the outstanding part was Ben Rottenborn objecting to the evidence of his own witness!!

@@karadiberlino the OP meant that it’s not a pleasant “job”. It’s tedious, unpleasant at times, and took much of their time away from things they would rather do. It’s taking their time away from their family and friends. They didn’t choose to be there. Quite frankly, i think we can all agree, they would rather not be part of the jury if possible, but it is their responsibility. So once at home, it makes more sense, to not give more of their time on the case and focus on what they have been missing out on their lives.
For those in need of a little more context - my sarcastic comment is in reference to the accusation by AH's attorney that jurors went home at night and searched social media for additional trial information. I could not believe AH's attorney would impugn the jury without any evidence.
I went on social media and supported JD, without pressure or payment lol, for 1 reason. And I'm not the only one.. being a real DV survivor I recognized the abuser, cause I've been through that hell myself. It triggered my ptsd big time.

I felt for Elaine during the trial. I really believe Amber Heard was running the show. But when she went on a media tour saying these patently false things; I lost that sympathy. She should be ashamed of herself!

Its incredible to me that Heard's lawyer seems to think that a trial means nothing, just an accusation which should be believed regardless of evidence or lack thereof. That is childish thinking.

I liked how near the end of the trial the defendants switched from having the prosecution prove heard's; malice, writing of the Op-ed to her first amendment right. Edit: I didnt like, I thought it was cheap and insulting to the Jury that they'd fall for such a weak argument.
You're right. This is easier to do when on the winning side. Still, those two remained classy and professional in their interviews, and made it about their client than anything else. Chew and Vasquez are what you would want in a lawyer, whether you win or lose.
When it comes to jury duty, even though I never got to make a decision in a case, just the process I've seen in jury selection or us not being allowed to use social media at all was strict. Elaine was insulting the whole justice system just because she couldn't win with those obvious and flimsy lies.
Finally, I never even thought much of Vasquez being a female lawyer. All I saw was a lawyer doing her job professionally as all lawyers should. So when she mentioned both times how she hoped to be an influence to girls to get into her profession, that felt powerful. Where AH claims to be a role model through fluff, Vasquez showed us through action what a role model really looks like. And just think, a woman who is strong, smart, independent, and hard working able to go out there, be on the level of men in her field, and essentially save a man's life. That is true equality right there.
this was a victory for me too. Johnny was a victim of D.A and he won. men and women should stand together in the fight against D.V this is a good day even if some people can't see it. And with all the pressure everyone was under I think all most everyone involved in this case did a good job .but Johnnys Team was awesome
I'm glad Elaine's criticism of the jury came up later. Imagine giving up those weeks of your life and salary to be accused of betraying your oath?!
I appreciated how Camille answered almost all the questions as "we," spreading the success.
I believe the cancellation of Elaine's interview on "Law and Crime" was due to the realization that her comments on other television networks were baseless and potentially defamatory. We have seen Elaine doing anymore interviews as she must be aware of potential defamatory litigation.

I absolutely believe that even if the roles were reversed and Johnny's team had lost, Ben and Camille still would have reacted with class and professionalism. They wouldn't have gone on national television the next day blaming the judge, jury and the world for the loss. And I think had Amber's team won they would have acted equally as terrible as they have. There is such a thing as being a sore winner too. Such stark differences between the two teams. They both match the class and character of their respective clients. I am so happy that Johnny was able to tell his story and at the end of the day that trial was Amber's to lose and she did just that. Truly evil.

Out of everything I have read or listened to during this trial & after that is one of the greatest. It is so true. They truly do. They are the perfect team for such a delicate matter & a true representation of their client, as you have said. The man that whom we have heard for decades is kind, generous, giving, respected & most of all loved by those whose lives he has touched. They are truly great. I agree. I was in awe of her listening to her asking questions of the witnesses then in her summing up at the end it was like WQW!! She's has an incredible astute mind, it's like a laser beam, she homes in on the evidence and nobody can get away however much they try to wriggle away from her grip. She was so well organised in her whole questioning of witnesses, she could pull up a record in seconds for the Jury to see on their screens whereas Elaine spent minutes shuffling through sheets of paper on her desk trying to find what she needed whilst the Judge and the Jury sat twiddling their thumbs waiting for her to find the sheet of paper she was looking for. She was a complete embarrassment to the legal profession.
She does make women look good, smart and highly competent. She shines.
I bet they had to make her partner as she would have been getting offers from every where and they wanted to keep their new star lawyer

It was clear that Amber's other attorneys were nowhere to be seen. Their hugs at the end was an embarrassment...Elaine looked over at Johnny's team and they were all hugging so she turned around and started hugging Amber, then Amber turned to Rothenberg and started hugging him then the others and it was all very awkward looking. I believe, except for Elaine, they were very glad it was over. Elaine is the only one on TV or in public anywhere speaking on Amber's behalf.

Hopefully it will help put a stop to this "believe all women" nonsense, but unfortunately most men don't have JD's money to defend themselves against the court systems in similar situations as he was in with AH.
Hi Bruce. Court TV did an interview with Chew on his own. One question asked was about him getting a little emotional in the court during his closing as he started getting a little emotional in the interview. No one seems to notice him saying he and the rest of the lawyers believed JD and in JD. The emotions stems from knowing an innocent man won. A very emotional thing.
Full marks to Camilla's firm :

I don't think it was so much about ego as preparation. If a man would've went at Amber in cross the same way Camille did it coukdve come across as bullying. Having a woman do it was very smart on their part. Plus she did a fantastic job

The fact of the matter is Elaine and Amber's team went into this trial just expecting to be believed. They felt entitled to be believed. Johnny's team went into the trial on a mission to really delve into the evidence and impeach amber and her witnesses. When they started the trial, you could feel that sense of entitlement from Amber's lawyers and by the time they realized this was going to be a real battle, they were immediately overwhelmed and could not handle the scrutiny. They got their ass kicked, plain and simple. Their client is a liar and they were gullible and had some real issues with confirmation bias. If you notice, only Elaine went on her little 15 minutes of fame press tour and Elaine was the only one really interacting with amber by the end of the trial. I think that's because, if the other lawyers actually believed her heading into the trial (doubtful), they absolutely did not believe her by the end and were probably extremely angry that amber lied to them so much. So many instances where their line of questioning was based on a lie amber told and they looked terrible when the witnesses flat out denied much of what she claimed happened (muffins, the foyer incident). Elaine's ego was hurt, that's why she's lashing out and marking her territory everywhere like a dog that just lost a fight. For her, it's got as much to do with women's right to be believed as it does to amber: not at all. It's about their egos, plain and simple.
The first and greatest mistake AH's team made was putting Elaine in charge. She had nowhere near the level of experience, skill or charisma Rottenborn had. Sure, his lines of questioning seemed dirty and low blows at times, but what are you going to do when your client is obviously in the wrong? He knew what he was doing but Elaine's antics as well as Amber's time on the stand erased any chance he might have had. They didn't do any press tours because they didn't have to; anyone with two brain cells would want the dubious honour of "defended Amber Heard" to be forgotten somewhere in the middle of their CV. If that pisses off Amber? so what? she still has to pay them.
I felt they spent too much time looking at the UK case. Could only have been confusing for the jury. Elaine was the general fighting the previous battle. Also stupid because she knew that the 2 major reasons for the judge's rulings were false.....donated 7 mil and Drew contradicted by the body cam.

I agree with absolutely everything you said. I would add or change that the best part of Vasquez’s cross was that she used Amber’s own words against her. And her ex-friends. I think the donate v pledge thing was when it was clear that this abuser manipulated her words and tries to gaslight. It was evident on the stand which amplified the importance of the audio clips as well.

I think she (Elaine) was trying to do damage contŕol for her law firm. They probably lost clients due to their poor performance in this case. Its too bad they had to put on a case with what appeared to be doctored evidence, compromised witnesses, ethically challenged experts and a clearly dishonest client.

As a former juror I’ve always listened to the judge to a tee. These are people’s lives hanging in the balance.

Something that I noticed. When Amber was testifying and seemed to be droning on, Camille would object--non-responsive or irrelevant or some other objection. And then even if it was overruled--which it often was--Amber seemed to lose track of what she was saying and then wait for another question. So, it seems the objection served it's purpose?
Thank you Bruce for your wonderful videos in dissecting this trial. I followed it from the moment it started, I'm retired so was able to watch it all day every day and I was addicted to it. I have no legal training but I have a brain and I followed the questioning hour after hour and it came apparent that AH was making things up as she went along, she constantly contradicted herself in her testimony, and as for her "crying" episodes she made herself look pathetic, screwing her face up pretending to cry when she couldn't produce any tears. Even her acting coach said she was useless at trying to cry then obviously after she'd read the comments on the internet she produced something that made her nose run whenever she put a tissue up to her nose to make her nose run, she dabbed it with her tissue then wiped her nose with the back of her hand, just for effect.
As for the voice recordings, i couldn't believe what I was listening to, her goading Johnny over and over when he was trying to get away from her, she followed him from room to room and then called him "a cry baby". A woman who is being abused by their partner and is supposedly afraid of him doesn't follow him around taping their conversations, you would leave well alone and isolate yourself from your abuser in case you got another beating. She obviously sunk herself in the trial, the Jury heard it all as we all did on worldwide TV, they didn't need to be swayed by social media, the believable witnesses that came forward, who AH said were all lying and her own disregard of all the evidence finished her off and no doubt Elaine's future career. She was an appalling lawyer, in fact I felt sorry for her at some points in the trial she was so bad.

These lawyers conduct was so honorable. You can tell that there is a reason why they were so good.
Heard’s lawyer revealed her ethics when she basically said, “naturally, anyone would talk about it even after repeated admonitions from the judge”. When a person like her says “everybody does it”, they mean they do it. I suspect Heard hired her because she didn’t want to spend any more than she had to and they clicked on an emotional, poor-me level.
So the good lawyer becomes partner and the bad lawyer has to hustle to get work in spite of her “fifteen minutes of fame”. I think that’s why she went public to say the trial was rigged, not her fault-another poor-me argument….continuing her public presentation of what a bad lawyer she is.
I'm surprised that I haven't seen anyone bring up the fact that Amber heard's own attorneys brought the social media component into the trial. They literally brought #JusticeforJohnnyDepp and #amberturd into the trial and told the jury about it. They told the jury how popular Johnny Depp was on social media. The jury did not need to look on social media to know that. It was disclosed to them by Amber heard's own team.

JD’s team clearly cares for him. And it’s wonderful to see. They also seem like genuinely good people. It’s refreshing especially when it comes to lawyers because you don’t always associate that with a lawyer. Or at least, I didn’t always. They did such a great job and the case was a fair one.

Thank you for all these videos, Bruce. They are so educational and fun! I grew up being physically, emotionally and verbally abused by my mother. I witnessed how my father was abused by my mother. He stayed in the marriage thinking that maintaining a family would be good for the children (and realized that he was wrong after too much harm has been done). We all ended up miserable. Watching the Depp v. Heard case can be painful at times, especially a lot of the things Ms. Heard said were said by my mother when she was harassing us. I hope this case would remind people that men can be domestic violence victims too. People need to stop assuming (1) all mothers love their children and (2) only women can be victims. I am a woman but I'm against the "trust all women" movement. I am all for "trust the truth" and "investigate all allegations."
Honestly, I think the jurors were probably aware of the media talking about the trial, but I do believe wholeheartedly that all the jurors voted with their own judgment. That’s what matters.
I definitely think they voted based on their own judgement and the evidence presented to them in court. If the jurors decided based on social media, I think they would have made their decision quicker, would have awarded Johnny more money and would not have given Amber a dime. The fact that they gave Amber any money at all, shows me that social media didn’t influence them
The jury was certainly aware the case was being talked about online, because Amber and her team kept bringing it up!! It was kind of hard not to notice. It still annoys me that AH, (like the SA story she stole from her PA), stole the microwave baby story from the Rebekah Vardy libel case word for word. AH was obviously not only perusing social media, but researching for information to bring into the trial to add weight to her testimony. I think all AH and Elaine's allegations against the integrity of the judge and jury are just reflections of their own LACK OF integrity. Heard thinks nothing of blatantly lying under oath, so everyone else must also not take their oaths seriously. She goes on social media to research things, so they must do so too. Thankfully, she was wrong and the jury and judge all ethically and honorably held to their oaths in what must have been a nightmare of a case to sit through!

It looked like AH and her team went into this trial leaning heavily on the result of the UK trial, therefore greatly underestimating this trial.
It seemed as if they were taken by surprise by the very strong and unwavering attitude of team JD.
The seemingly never-ending calls for objection, that were more often than not granted by the judge, appeared to have taken back the lawyers in team AH, which was especially clear to see in the often flustered face of EB.
I first thought that the somewhat silly, clumsy appearance of EB was an act, in an attempt to gain sympathy from the jury, but the further we got into the hearings, it became more clear that it wasn’t an act, but rather a display of inability, turning into the obvious frustration that we all witnessed in the behavior of, again, especially EB.
They went in way too overconfident and came out losing for all the right reasons!!
Yes, exactly. AH and her team went in thinking that the trial was a waste of time because of course it would go in her favour. That was obvious in Amber's smirks and dismissive attitutde early on. They probably also thought they had the upper hand as AH got to tell her side of the story last. But as the trial went on Amber and her team began to crack and realise that it was actually turning very bad for them, as they were up against a rock solid legal team, and that her "amazing" acting skills weren't pulling the wool over anyone's eyes in that courtroom.

Great analysis. Thorough and knowledgeable - the Depp team was professional and gracious. Elaine impugning the jury should be criminal. To say the jury didn’t take their job seriously is horrific. She is a shameful and trying to cover her failure. Sour grapes.
I almost cried not being able to laugh at the sour grapes statement. I started to laugh, but had change it to a cough, due to where I am at the moment. Lawyer Bruce said, "When you are eating sour grapes, your face looks like Elaine's". Oh my!
Their behavior is the kind of classiness I would want in my attorneys. Professional, respectful and intelligent.
All you gotta do is watch Amber’s 2016 depo and listen to the tapes that dropped, all the known tapes that we just listened to in the trial and you’ll know why everybody supports Depp.
In point of fact one of the "Founders" of the Me Too movement congratulated JD and said it was a victory to all "True Victims " of abuse. Also an international group for victims advocacy also congratulated and wished him well.
On Social Media there have been overwhelming numbers of women and some men as well who are survivors of everything AH alleged were all over pro JD channels and absolutely furious about what AH was using to level her accusations at JD. The overwhelming consensus was she was full of sh*t and they were extremely pissed off at her.
Victims are victims...gender notwithstanding. Victory over abuse is a solid victory for all victims.
That last comment was pure facts. If there is a social impact from this trial it is how Camille was a positive rolemodel for women's empowerment and showed how women can succeed in their roles on a high level and at high stakes and at the same time still be modest and humble persons. This sends a stronger message to all women to take their life in their own hands than anything else.

When Elaine mentioned the 10 day break during the trial she "forgot" to mention that the judge had mentioned that she had a meeting in that period on fixing the dates for the trial and therefore the two parties knew beforehand and accepted the conditions so she has no ground to complain about it now. Unless....she was expecting crowds outside the court cheering her client and it apparently backfired.
Judge Azcarte is also a great example for women. Calm, fair, and powerful.
I feel that when Elaine said that AH could not afford her judgement, that she unknowingly launched her client into a complete SM swarm of embarrassment. She ( Elaine) dropped an big interview (last minute) with a bs reason, then didn’t reschedule. She just disappeared.
My thought, is that a narcissist like Amber literally told Elaine to shut the F up. I think she got reigned in by her own client and team after they saw the damage Elaine caused.
I bet the judge told her to shut up and stop impugning the jury.
Personally I doubt Heard told her to stop doing the appearances - in fact I suspect it was her idea for Elaine to do these interviews in the first place thinking she still has a chance to change peoples mind about her. I suspect it was the PR firm who told Elaine to stop doing these interviews, or told Heard to tell Elaine to stop them because they were doing more harm than good. Heard likely thinks she can still win this - win the appeal, win back the public and live happily ever after - people like her can never accept defeat.
Plus it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing for the public to know Heard is broke - that gives her another excuse for failing to donate what she pledged to donate, as well as an excuse to not pay Depp what he is owed.
Heard should get a job stacking shelves in a supermarket, and then start saving those pennies to pay JD what he's owed.

The next Amber Heard trial will be the criminal case for the murder of Elaine. It might have been AH's idea that the interviews happen (actually that is the most likely outcome), but like any other thing in her life, she's not going to accept responsibility for it, she's just going to blame Elaine for the eventual mess those interviews cause.
