I’ve tried my first water slide on white glitter and it turned out but after I put epoxy on my clear portion of the water slide had turned a yellow tint. Have you had any issues like this, and how could I prevent it

Hi!!! What kind of printer did you use?? I am stuck between an inkjet and a laser printer. I would only be using it for printable vinyl, and waterslides.

My waterslide decals don't need sealing one way or the other....they still do need epoxy tho
My waterslides are all ready to use & don't need sealing. If you are making your own, you will still need to seal the waterslide if you are using an inkjet printer. Regardless of which way you apply the waterslide, you will still need to do a final coat of epoxy on the cup after the waterslide dries.

If I print my own water slide decal and want to apply it this way do I still prep it with an acrylic clear coat or will that prevent it from sticking?
I would presume so since the clear coat prevents the ink from running.

It is waterslide paper. The waterslide decals ordered from www.withlovefromvinyl.etsy.com are ready to apply upon receipt. They do need to have a layer of epoxy over the glitter cups once applied to make them permanent

Hi everyone, can I get some help? :/ I am having massive printing issues. My printer leaves scratch marks all the time and sometimes the print is totally unusable. My printer back feed uses wheels that make contact with the ink on the paper and leave marks, and my front feed keeps bumping into curved or elevated surfaces on the paper, scratching the ink. Does anyone know how this can be solved?

Is the color less vibrant because your sliding it off that way?
The coloring will be the same regardless of how it's applied. Clear waterslide images are printed on transparent film so the coloring will be less vibrant when taken off the white backing. It does get darker if you layer 2 waterslide images on eachother.

if there aren't any words, there isn't a need to mirror. I apply them either way without mirroring when wording isn't involved.

@@hayleighwittal882 if you use inkjet waterslide you will have to seal the ink side no matter how you apply it. The ink will run otherwise.

Great little tutorial! And I've also heard that doing the application the way you showed, will also minimize any cracking on the decal. Anyway -- loved the floral decal you used, but I was unable to locate it in your Etsy shop. Are they still available? Thanks in advance. =)
Below you state that any waterslide paper will work, however, there is an adhesive on the waterslides, so I don't understand how the "backwards" method works?
There isn't adhesive on the waterslide itself after it releases from the backing. The slippery feel left on the backing is what holds the waterslide to the backing itself. the water activates the adhesive on the backing releasing the waterslide from the backing, but isn't actually on the waterside itself. That's why a waterslide isn't permanent without a layer of epoxy or being baked on (like a ceramic cup or dish). Drop a piece of waterslide in water and feel both sides when it releases from the backing to see what I mean.

Two questions: first, can you sand the epoxy under the waterslide or will it show through, and if you do not sand, will the epoxy repel? and two - my waterslide paper seems to have an adhesive type film on the back side. If I flip it will that adhesive side interact adversely with the epoxy? Thanks again!
Good evening. Don't sand under the epoxy without adding a layer of adhesive or gloss sealer before applying the decal(the dullness will show otherwise under the clear waterslide). All the waterslide i have used doesn't have actual adhesive on them. It has an adhesive residue that held the paper backing to the waterslide ( that may feel slick, but washes away in the water during application), but there is not adhesive that holds the waterslide to the object it is applied too. That's why they aren't permanent on their own and need to be baked or epoxied over. I have never had issues with the epoxy regardless of how i have applied my waterslide.

They sell them on Amazon. I’ve also seen them at my local dollar tree. It’s a silicone spatula style brush.
I know this question is 2 years old but for anyone asking, I found this rubber spatula brush in the beauty section of my local Dollar Tree, sold as a face mask applicator.

Waterslide doesn't use glue. It's similar to. Window cling. The epoxy makes it permanent, or baking it for a length of time at a certain temp (depending on brand).
When you mirror the water slide do you still have to spray it with the acrylic spray, because the side that is sprayed is now face down on the cup?
If they are ordered from me, they won't need to be sealed either way they are applied. If you are printing your own on an inkjet they will need to be sealed regardless of how they are applied
I tried a few different decals and I keep getting wrinkles in the paper, any tips?

just wondering, how do you cure waterslide on tumblers without epoxy or do you need epoxy to seal it?
I only ever use them with epoxy. I have heard they can be baked on as well, but i have no experience going that route
How secure are the slides , how long do they last ..
Another layer of epoxy is added after the waterslide dries, so they aren't exposed to the wear and tear of use.

My decal came off the moment it hit the warm water
If it came off too quick, use a colder temp. I usually try to be about room temp. Colder water will definitely take longer

I’m trying to understand how anything without color ends up clear?! This is so different then applying a traditional decal.
The paper itself us clear. In traditional white paper, the white that shows is blank paper (no ink because printers don't print in white). When a clear paper is used, all white areas will be clear because of the clear paper showing through
all the design does is trickle off the paper- like idk why it never works but the design always falls off :-T
You need to seal your paper with clear spray 3x letting it dry in between each coat before you cut it and apply it to your cup.
