Yeah, I started out really small too. It’s been steadily growing, have reached over 150 volumes currently, still small compared to some people, but I’m proud of it :)
I started collecting again recently myself. Glad I got back into it now that the lovely Dark Horse deluxe editions are a thing, been buying up all the Berserk volumes and I've got the first volume of Hellsing on the way.
Love the collection!!! I'm currently at 120 in my own collection, but I'd definitely recommend Kaiju No. 8. It currently has 7 volumes and still releasing more.
Would love to see an update 😊 just stared my collection I have spy x family and blood on the tracks. My sister has over 50 books of different manga she reads
A few manga suggestions . Dan a dan ,colorless, my hero academia, my hero academia vigilantes, don't toy with me miss nagatoro, let this grieving soul retire, mashle magic and muscles, undead unluck ,chained soldier , One piece even though one piece is like 103 volume's long lol .
Let me write all these down so I can check them out! Thank you! I’ve seen my hero but I’ve never read it and I never heard of MHA Vigilantes. Mashle I like so far. I’ve been kind of reading it on the Shonen Jump app to see if I like it before I buy it. And yeah I need to get one piece because maybe I’ll enjoy it more reading it
One piece and Berserk are my favourite manga of all time For shorter series i would recommend you to collect Chainsawman man....black torch and Tokyo Ghoul
let me just say man, don't give in to the perceived pressure to instantly have a large manga collection bc of the people you see on yt / in the manga community. I keep hearing you refer to your "small" collection as if that's a negative thing. truth is, for somebody who has been collecting manga for one month, this I'd a pretty large collection! it's larger than my collection and I have been collecting for a few months now. just remember to stay within your means when building your collection. the most important thing in this game is that you're reading at your own pace and enjoying the books you're buying. not spending more than you can afford to spend in order to turbo charge the size of your collection is very important as well. make sure you can still look after yourself, your house and your partner. like I said earlier, it's easy to feel like your collection is inadequate when you look around in the manga community at people with larger collections than yourself but please remember that some those people have been collecting for a long long time and have sunk A LOT of money in to that collection but hopefully they have done so in an appropriate manner keeping in mind their life outside of their hobby and over a long time. you may look at the man with the 100 manga collection longingly. i can tell you that he is looking at the man with the 1,000 manga collection longingly and he again is looking at the man with the 5,000 manga collection longingly. it's human nature. you will always feel inadequate if you can't appreciate what you have for what it is. sorry for the rant, I began typing and got carried away lmao. enjoy the journey and take care homie!
Thank you! This is very reassuring. I was not sure how this collection would be seen by the manga community so i tried to downplay my collection because I didn't want a lot of unnecessary comments but everyone has been real open and nice about my collection.
I have quite a small collection myself at the moment. Haven't been collecting manga for too long. My first series I ever collected was actually The Promised Neverland. I bought the entire series 1-3 volumes at a time over the course of several months and then read everything when I completed it. Very satisfying journey that was... now over a year later and I find out they've released a complete box set... oh well. Still don't regret those purchases, but I'd love to have a complete box set of another one of my favorite series someday. But yeah at the moment my collection is only at 30 or so volumes and didn't know if that was worth showing off, though seeing this video has definitely inspired me, and the more I think about it, the more I enjoy the idea of showing off my collections over time to see how much they evolve, documenting my progress and all that. I hope your manga collecting journey has been a fulfilling one so far, cuz I'd love to see how far you're able to go, from one aspiring collector to another! :)
Thank you! Yeah I’ve learned in my 6 months of collecting that it’s all about the journey. Enjoy the journey more than anything. I’m glad that I could help inspire you in some way to show off your collection. I hope you continue to get the series you want and continue to find joy in this amazing hobby
@@TheShonenRonin22 Thanks! The process has been really fun. I always get excited whenever I see the next volume or even a missing volume in a series I’m collecting. I have been collecting manga for a little over a year now and youre collection is already much more diverse and interesting than mine. Love youre videos and cant wait to see more content from you.
ive been collecting manga slowly over the last few years as im still in school, but ive got around 200 volumes so far.I think a mistake a lot of people make including me is getting a few volumes of many series that we like the anime for .Ive found it good to take a step back and really focus on completing the series which i love and want to read. That only works if you want a proper collection though idk what your goal is.Anyway the collection is looking good so far keep it up. I don't have a big collecting but after being disappointed by comics for the last decade I switch because Manga is really well written. I didn't know any of these characters but immediately got into the stories and worlds it created.
I’ve been collecting manga for the last 3 years and my collection is currently at 296! Your collection is definitely more diverse then mine was when i started, i recommend you read leviathan or kasane :)
Thanks for the recommendation! I will add those to my list. And I actively have tried to make my collection diverse because while I am new to manga, I have seen a lot of anime so I tried to steer away from the anime I've seen outside of series I've absolutely loved.
I re-read Dead Dead Demons. Slice of Life with nice artwork. I have several Yugioh Omnibus. I'm going to try and get back into Fairy Tale, Black Butler and Kakegurui. I think some of us like that spine artwork.
Just bought my first tall bookshelf as my collection is starting to really take shape. I started with Chainsawman after the first episode of the anime came out and I wanted to know more. It took hold of my soul. I had watched all of one piece, and gotten caught up and reading the manga online, and decided I was gonna start trying to collect the manga, and I made the mistake of buying the first box set on ebay. I can't stop reading the series, and if I try and bulk order it, I'm gonna have to wait a week. I don't know if I'll be able to hold off lol. Yugioh is really good too if you were a big fan of it as a kid. It's different then the anime in a lot of ways, but still follows the same path so to speak.
glad to see someone that likes erased, its super underrated, and my fav oat, love it so much, burst out crying 10 times watching, and after finishing, and it's so good when watching it for the first time, can't really rewatch it.
I’ll definitely check it out then! I’ve seen it on rightstuf and it is my “Save For Later” list but I’ll make sure I go ahead and get it in my next order
Nice collection, Some series i recommend alot to try is Berserk(The manga is one of the best ever made. The anime they made for it is very bland in comparison). Blade of the immortal is also a great series. Then there is Tokyo Ghoul which is quite cheap to get the boxsets of. There is also Vinland saga or Vagabond. And not to forget Gantz which i really enjoyed reading through. If you can get the Akira hardcover anniversary edition then that's also a great pickup.
When i got death note i got a pretty good deal for the boxset, but the more i see of the black editions, the more i wish i spent the extra money to get them instead 😭. Didnt think id like the minimalism of them but they look soooo dope on the shelf. I also think the print quality is slightly better on them compared to the single vols as well
I have never seen the Box Set spines in person so I don't know how good or bad they look. But I can say the Black Edition ones look great on the shelf especially now that I have the entire series.
This was the same for me, the first anime i watched was angels of death and i enjoyed it although it never got me into anime. But then i saw demon slayer on tiktok and decided to give it a go, i ended up loving it. Demon slayer really got me into the anime/manga community
Some suggestions - Buy boxsets for series you wanna complete fast and cheap. Some series recommendatios: Jojos bizzare adventure (1st part is pretty bad for 1st time readers so I recommend you to collect until part 2 to see if you like it) Berserk, vagabond, 20th century boys, chainsaw man, monster (all of these are peak fiction and I highly recommend you to get one of these series with chainsaw man being a very good shonen, Jojo being full of iconic memes fights and scenes and the others being full on phylosophical masterpieces)
I’ll make sure I check these out! I want the big deluxe version of berserk so that’s it’s own financial commitment lol but I’ll do it. And im very interested in chainsaw man because I’ve seen nothing but great things about it
Very nice collection! I'll throw in some recommendations- ONE PIECE! My personal favorite Manga of all time, I highly recommend it to anyone. I know it's a very long series, but don't let that stop you from experiencing peak manga(in my opinion lmao) Attack on Titan A Silent Voice Bakuman(Made by the creators of Death Note! It goes into how Manga gets made) Chainsaw Man Jujutsu Kaisen Kaguya-sama: Love is War Noragami: Stray God Spy x Family And Spider-Man: Fake Red, if you're into Marvel!
Nice collection! Solid series to start out with, if want to branch out onto some older series i'd recommend Akira, it was actually one of the first manga I bought to start off my collection. The box set is one of the best box sets I have and the the covers are amazing, and of course the story is amazing as well.
I don’t know what the story of Akira is about but I’ve heard nothing but great things about the series and the actual box set. I’ll definitely be adding that soon!
the best piece of advice i could give is wait and slow down, at the beginning you want to buy everything but don't do that. Look at what you want to collect and look for the best price possible, this might take a while but its a big pay off. A series that i wanted to collect but had a real trouble finding it for a good price was Vagabond, it took me eventually over a year to collect all 12 volumes for a good price but in the end its really worth it. (also check out the rest of takehiko inoue's series, they are amazing)
pretty good collection, especially mob psycho, but for recommendations I would say to get I am a hero, its a really good zombie manga, you should get the omnibus cause the first 2 volumes are kinda slow but it gets really good, also vinland saga and slam dunk are very good series
That sounds interesting. I’ll check it out on RightStuf. I’ve seen the first season of Vinland saga but I think I’m going to start collecting the manga
Love the video! Deff gonna drop a sub ❤ I started collecting a 2 years ago and i currently have a little over 250 volumes so its nice to see someone new to the hobby 👍
@@TheShonenRonin22 cool! Hope you enjoy yourself, i would happily awnser any question tho i do collect primarily spanish volumes as i live in SA. Regardless its cool to see you are enjoying it so far 👍
Nice intro about documenting your journey. As someone who has been watching anime a long time and reading manga for the past 5 years please don't just watch the big and popular series. There are so much manga/anime on anything and everything. Lots of hidden, niche titles and forgotten gems.
I would look into box sets, a couple series you are starting have absolute dirt cheap box sets, were are talking 3-5 bucks a volume, like demon slayer and bleach
I’ll look into that. I still need to read what I have of bleach to see if I like it. I actually like demon slayer now. I’ve come around so I’ll definitely being buying the box set for that
I have a small collection, like really small. Bleach Box Set 1, Toilet Bound Hanako Box Set 1, complete FMA hardcovers, AuharuXKikanju, and a few light novels such as JJK Nier and Bleach. There arent many mangas out there that I want to keep to go back to, the ones I want are from way back and its impossible to get without forking a good chunk of money. Guess its what happens when you grow up with old manga that is now oop. I will eventually buy the next 2 Bleach Box Sets but I am waiting for a really good deal $150-$200 is way too much. And ill definitely jump on a JJK Box Set whenever it happens cause its gonna happen, its a popular shounen afterall. Maybe theyll include the 0.5 as a booklet in english
I have to say Girl's Last Tour has a confusing ending, but I think it's necessary for the kind of story that it is. As for recommendations, All You Need Is Kill is a great one volume read by the artist of Death Note, Asadora (7 volumes) is a great mystery series by Urasawa Naoki, who also did Monster and 20th Century Boys. Oh yeah, I need to give you some trauma as well. Berserk. Don't look up anything about it, just buy the first 3 volumes. You'll be hooked. I wish you the best on your manga collecting journey!
if you would rather support the creator buying the physical copies is good but check out the full color version online and if you find the beginning boring start at chapter 52.
Bro I just started this year I have 2 box sets and 3 junji ito deluxe editions but l get 5 more box sets next year it’s hard to get them tho because some are not the complete series like bleach for instance and Amazon only sell some that are well known
Sounds like you are off to a great start to me. Keep grinding! Check out the Crunchyroll store as well for some box sets. There are other sites I've seen people use but I am not too familiar with.
I recommend not collecting many different mangas if your trying to make a big collection just buy vol 1s and if you like it buy all of it and don’t buy anything else until you have collected all of it keep going bro your gonna make it 😊
good advice. I recommend collecting like around 5 series at a time and not adding a new one unles you complete 1 of the 5. (Thats how I do it at least)
My collection only has Sailor Moon, Cardcaptors, xxxHolic, My Hero Academia, Blue Exorcist, His Favorite, Saiyuki, and Acid Town. Oh and like 4 volumes of Naruto. Wish I could get physical copies of Fort of Apocalypse and Bio Meat.
The main Manga I would and always recommend is Berserk, it is my all time favorite period, I personally like the deluxe edition but the single issues are just as good.
I have been watching anime for years but I am new manga world. Personally, I find manga more enjoyable than anime because you can read it at your own pace and there are so many manga that have not been turned into anime yet.
Same, I like watching anime but I haven’t had time to actually watch a full episode of anime.. I’ve just been so busy, so I just read manga instead of watching anime, manga is better in my opinion but anime is good too
Long list of recommendations incoming but I'd say do your research and see if they are for you. 20th Century Boys Pluto Choujin X Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Call of the Night DanDaDan Kaiju Number 8 Mashle Oshi No Ko Sakamoto Days Blood on the Tracks Fire Punch Boy's Abyss Witch Hat Atelier Zom 100 Goodnight Punpun
I’d like to add Sakamoto Days and Spy x Family, both action comedies that are new and should be easy to collect for. Oops, just saw Sakamoto Days was already there.
From.what iv seen of your collection jojos bizarre adventure. You have to read that. Also Tokyo ghoul. Though for a more adult sorta manga berserk it is a masterpiece. Though some of its themes might put you off. Read a non spoiler video on it to just know what context matter it shows so you know if its for you. If you can stomach its themes its absolutely a masterpiece. Edit note i think your video was great iv got like a way more suggestions I just named like two of my favourites with jojo and berserk though Tokyo ghoul is a good manga the anime shat the bed. The story was changed in the anime. Oh if your unsure on jojos watch the anime. Its quite faithful to the manga. With berserk dont ever watch the animes.
Hahah ok I’ll keep that in mind. I watched some of the anime for Berserk and was not impressed but I will make sure to give the manga a try. I want Tokyo Ghoul but I’m planning on getting the box set. I will watch JoJos. I watched the first episode and it was ok but I will go back and watch it
@@TheShonenRonin22 yeah with jojos it's one of those things every part got better as araki learnt from mistakes. As for berserk those animes done him dirty. The manga is up there with lord of the rings when it comes to characters and world building. The anime cut so much and the art work won't live up to the manga. As for 2016 anime my got burn it in the puts of hell for that ugly peace of story destroying crap lol. Dont get me wrong there are some animes that out do there mangas like attack on titan.
@@TheShonenRonin22 Just keep in mind - The Berserk anime only covers the FIRST arc and still leaves out 97% of the story. Also did you watch the new anime? With cgi? If yes...... Im sorry you had to watch that, its probably one of the worst anime of all time (not even overexaggerating)
I’m always going to say this. Try Jojo’s bizarre adventure. I know what people say about it and the fandom but the manga is really good especially the later parts

And not to forget Gantz which i really enjoyed reading through. If you can get the Akira hardcover anniversary edition then that's also a great pickup.
Great looking collection so far! hope you enjoy all your reading :D
Thank you!
And im very interested in chainsaw man because I’ve seen nothing but great things about it
@@TheShonenRonin22 yeah csm is awesome. The story goes from 0 to 100 instantly and moves incredibly fast
I was partially thinking about stopping Jo, Jo’s after reading the first arc, but will give it a go later on as loving other series at the moment.
Very nice collection!
I'll throw in some recommendations-
ONE PIECE! My personal favorite Manga of all time, I highly recommend it to anyone. I know it's a very long series, but don't let that stop you from experiencing peak manga(in my opinion lmao)
Attack on Titan
A Silent Voice
Bakuman(Made by the creators of Death Note! It goes into how Manga gets made)
Chainsaw Man
Jujutsu Kaisen
Kaguya-sama: Love is War
Noragami: Stray God
Spy x Family
And Spider-Man: Fake Red, if you're into Marvel!
@@TheShonenRonin22 good to hear!
Kids with superpowers being chased by the government. Of course it’s also worth checking out the Anime as well.
the best piece of advice i could give is wait and slow down, at the beginning you want to buy everything but don't do that.
Nice collection! I recommend yona of the dawn, it's soo good.
I will make sure to add it to my list!
Love the video! Deff gonna drop a sub ❤
I started collecting a 2 years ago and i currently have a little over 250 volumes so its nice to see someone new to the hobby 👍
Thank you! Yeah so far it’s the most fun hobby I’ve ever had. Looking to learn so much more about the space as well as get more manga
Just saw your channel, i don't think it's just going to be a "hobby" anymore
I would look into box sets, a couple series you are starting have absolute dirt cheap box sets, were are talking 3-5 bucks a volume, like demon slayer and bleach
hell yeah i got all 3 naruto box set for $300 it was stupid cheap
I’ll look into that. I still need to read what I have of bleach to see if I like it. I actually like demon slayer now. I’ve come around so I’ll definitely being buying the box set for that
@@fbgchichitm nice
i know im a bit late but this is so wholesome man, keep it up
Thank you!
You can talk to me about manga anime
素晴らしいコレクションですね😊日本🇯🇵から
Nice collection 👍
Thank you! Hopefully planning to add more soon
I highly recommend jojos bizarre adventure, and Akira they are absolute bangers. Also the hardcovers look really nice on the bookshelf.
You should continue girls last tour if you enjoy it. It’s pretty good :)
Im getting it and the anime was good sooo
I recommend not collecting many different mangas if your trying to make a big collection just buy vol 1s and if you like it buy all of it and don’t buy anything else until you have collected all of it keep going bro your gonna make it 😊
Thank you for the advice!
good advice. I recommend collecting like around 5 series at a time and not adding a new one unles you complete 1 of the 5. (Thats how I do it at least)
Just getting the first volume may not be enough to make a decision. Some collectors suggest a three volume rule. Probably but to the 3 for 2 offers.
Welcome (:
Thank you!
i love mobs brother and reigan so that’s crazy you say that u even love dimple😂
Im on volume 7 now and im all the way in! I still don’t like Reigan though lol
Instead of starting lots of new manga, i recommend finishing what you’ve collected (not what you tried and didn’t like)
I started with Gundam mangas😮
That is on my list to check out one day! I was a big fan of the anime as a kid
I have been watching anime for years but I am new manga world. Personally, I find manga more enjoyable than anime because you can read it at your own pace and there are so many manga that have not been turned into anime yet.
Same, I like watching anime but I haven’t had time to actually watch a full episode of anime.. I’ve just been so busy, so I just read manga instead of watching anime, manga is better in my opinion but anime is good too
Should also read fire force wayyy to good
I am watching Attack on Titan Omnibus manga
Hey so im starting to get into MY collection any recommendations
Long list of recommendations incoming but I'd say do your research and see if they are for you.
20th Century Boys
Pluto
Choujin X
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Call of the Night
DanDaDan
Kaiju Number 8
Mashle
Oshi No Ko
Sakamoto Days
Blood on the Tracks
Fire Punch
Boy's Abyss
Witch Hat Atelier
Zom 100
Goodnight Punpun
I’d like to add Sakamoto Days and Spy x Family, both action comedies that are new and should be easy to collect for. Oops, just saw Sakamoto Days was already there.
Start with one peace and end with one peace ;)
And Berserk, no need to say that
From.what iv seen of your collection jojos bizarre adventure.
I recommend that you get the rest of demon slayer
Yeah I think I just need to go ahead and get the box set lol
Moster is also a good anime if u like death note but the manga is better
I’m always going to say this. Try Jojo’s bizarre adventure. I know what people say about it and the fandom but the manga is really good especially the later parts
Collect jujutsu kaisen
Say less! I’ve only seen the anime
Please respond it would help for feedback and recommendations
Akira, Beserk, Blue Giant, Claymore are a couple I really enjoy
Vagabond
It has become my goal to not read a single panel of Vagabond until I can collect the entire series
