Everytime I hear this I start to cry. For those of us fortunate enough to never have experienced a difficult loss like Beth, this soundscape translates it beautifully right to the heart.
This piece never hit me until the show ended season 1, just finished it last night. Now its stuck in my head. This man is brilliant. It perfectly depicts how a family would feel after a loss like that. Purely Brilliant.
Not a numbers guy but noticed this was 150,000 hits for Beth's theme. Music for the weary, tired, broken, fragile, melancholy. A melody for the soul. But more than that, a prayer of a song. Hope, even when life is hard and every breath is an effort. Can you feel it? The piano playing in unison with the pulse of the universe. Oh, the heartbeat of the cosmos. How beautiful. How true. We are the stars.
broadchurch was really amazing, long time since i have seen such a great serie....acting was awsome . loved the female detective, so natural and so believable
The broadchurch season 1 soundtrack can gave me a mental breakdown. The emotion is just so... Powerful? And heavy? Idk. But it hurts. And it hurts a lot.
The moment Dr Who confirms it in her front room and she looks to the female detective for confimration that it was her Danny , so believable, wonderful and moving.
When you lose someone important, the grief can get so painful.. Emptying you of everything you are deep down until you become just a hollow shell of what once you used to be. Grief is unrelenting, unstoppable, powerful ..I wish I could say time will put an end to it, but I can't and it won't.. Although, time eventually does ease the burden, but the scar will always be there ..As depressing as that sounds we've got nothing left to do but to keep going, to keep on living and remembering and honouring them as we go through this weird thing called life
Having just finished watching Season 1 of Broadchurch, this theme is literally etched into my mind. The final few minutes of the show -- wow, the imagery and this music all tied together -- just makes for a memorable series and orchestration of perfection.
Stunning video. It's like a cosmic ballet... like flashes of existence coming into being only to disappear into eternity to be reborn in different forms until... darkness. The universe "ends". Beautiful. :3
+Fandoms And Stuff Wow, thanks! :) Well, this music is fantastic so I owe my inspiration to that. I've been known to *try* to write bits of my own stories on occasion. Haven't finished anything yet. Hopefully soon though! ;)
How come one of my favourite neo-classicist scored a TV series and I only get to know it after his concert in my city? And here I thought he wouldn't surprise me with anything at his gig. Gotta buy this album, gotta watch that show
Thanks for your sincere comment MsSardonicus. I got video somewhere from internet. It is closeup of liquid flow. I see how Broadchurch and Olafur's hit touch our spirit, both of them are magnificent.
Hauntingly beautiful, sad and nostalgic... Makes me yearn, feeling a loss, but of what, I don't know. Some of it reminds me of Sinaed o Connor's version of "Its no sacrafice"... I can't stop listening.
What if this gets played in the new season of Doctor Who, since 13th will be Jodie. Just picture the tardis flying in space and hearing her say a little speech with this music playing in the background, like at the end of one episode. Who else can see that???
I can't get over this video ...this song really got to me during Broadchurch and the video is amazing with it, you can just let your mind wander. Did you make the images yourself as well? It's amazing. ♥
Do you know if this is available as a live wallpaper for phones? I'm tempted to try it with this video live wallpaper app if not. It's so beautiful. :D (I guess I would edit it to the slower bits first)
I wonder if they're going to use OA music in the US soundtrack... what a useless remake, either way! If not people will have no idea what they are missing. And this was the saddest part of the whole thing.
Sorry Olafur, your music only works with a video. The video gives content, the music leaves a lot of room ... made great, but at a concert WITHOUT video I would fall asleep.
Arnalds and Max Richter are the preeminent modern classical composers of today.
I'd add Zimmer to them!
Neither compose classical music.

One of the most beautiful and calming pieces of music I've ever listened to.
Unbelievably delicate and intricate, Arnalds is truly one of the great composers of today.
The broadchurch season 1 soundtrack can gave me a mental breakdown. The emotion is just so... Powerful? And heavy? Idk. But it hurts. And it hurts a lot.
THAT MOMENT WHEN BETH REALISES THAT IT'S DANNY WHO IS DEAD ON THE BEACH AND JUST DROPS EVERYTHING AND RUNSS LIKE OMG NO BETH NO DANNY ARGH
+OleoBlog dude you need help

I don't think I've ever cried so much during one TV show. But it couldn't have been half as touching if not for Arnalds.
Cet air me donne des frissons!---cette série Broadchurch était superbe. Merci les Anglais !!!
I could listen to the Broadchurch OST all day long. Beth's theme is my favorite.
I've just booked tickets to go to one of Olafur's concerts in London. I feel blessed. It will be a night of undiluted bliss.
The sound of sorrow wrought beautifully.
Still here 2024
6 disliker's--obviously haven't seen the series--even though this is a 'Stand-alone' composition--and excellent too.
Wow.....
The OST for this show is partly the reason why I love this show so much. Sheer beauty.
God this is so breath taking and calming. It's like... melancholic bliss
so sad & so peace at the same time~~~
The music fits the drama so well. It hurts so much.
and by the way Beth is so beautiful~~~~~
absolutely amazing, you can feel the music just wash over you... great show too
This is the saddest thing I have ever heard
chanson très mélancolique, formidable !
Although there are only six songs on this album, each and every one takes you away to that special place.
Stunning video. It's like a cosmic ballet... like flashes of existence coming into being only to disappear into eternity to be reborn in different forms until... darkness. The universe "ends". Beautiful. :3
+Lisa Galarza Do you write? Because that comment is FANTASTIC. With excellent imagery, too.
+Fandoms And Stuff Wow, thanks! :) Well, this music is fantastic so I owe my inspiration to that. I've been known to *try* to write bits of my own stories on occasion. Haven't finished anything yet. Hopefully soon though! ;)
whoever broke your heart, Arnalds, I love you.
the person that made this video is a genius ...
ongelofelijk mooie muziek!!!
Never seen (or heard of) Broadchurch - but this music is so great. I paint while listening to this.
Merci pour cette musique. Merci olafur arnalds.
Wow. I love this music, but this video makes it even more amazing! Big up to whoever made this.
I keep replaying this
still to this day
'olafur Arnalds,un génie méconnu,félicitation!
this song is so dramatically beautifully sad.
Incredibly soulful piece....

I can't stop listening.
Did my education or my culture make me feel sad when I hear this sound? Or is there any essence in it that translate so truely this bitterness?
Soy de México y siento lo mismo
Awesome. Thanks for sharing!
PD: The TV serial [Broadchurch] is at the same level.
Greetings from Spain.
From 2:30, it's the most wonderful part
Yes, it's true
Bellissima.....
The video reminds me of how i picture the universe, expanding and moving in ways we have yet to understand.
it is incredible.
What if this gets played in the new season of Doctor Who, since 13th will be Jodie. Just picture the tardis flying in space and hearing her say a little speech with this music playing in the background, like at the end of one episode. Who else can see that???

Wonderful video.

Bir gün gerçekten seni severek dinleyen bir adama aşık olucam.
Rubato. Sweet, smooth, humane rubato.
It would be great if someone could make a piano tutorial for this beautiful song!
start with F# and D#, then go to A# and F#
to say good bye when you are not ready.
I can't get over this video ...this song really got to me during Broadchurch and the video is amazing with it, you can just let your mind wander. Did you make the images yourself as well? It's amazing. ♥
Does anyone know where I can find sheet music for this? An easy way to learn to play it? I'd really like to learn it on piano.
10 Hours pls
So beautiful. Does anyone have the sheet music??
He posts a lot of his sheet music for free on his website!
Tão lindo

Bitti ama son bu kadar uzun sürmemeliydi.
I spread the word
Maybe the word was good.....
Do you know if this is available as a live wallpaper for phones? I'm tempted to try it with this video live wallpaper app if not. It's so beautiful. :D (I guess I would edit it to the slower bits first)
Is the counter under the video the numbers of time I've listened to this by myself or everyone views combined? 🤔
So this is just Glassworks, Opening?
It’s the exact same progression.
Alguém em português? Alguém do Brasil?
"von" and "bless" are more of arnor dan's masterpieces. please check them out.
Completely haunting.... Is there sheet music?
anyone came here b/c of Slyfer2812 - Interstellar | Leaving
This is an interpretation of the original TREE by olafur. I guess.
Bhavya Mehra more an evolution. it's still Olafur
Self indulgement. I agree with the idea, you need to be more.....flexible if you what to reach everybody.
Consummatum est !

Amazing. I smoked 2 bowls of meth while enjoying the serenity of this wondrous anthem.
Oops I did it again
ruined by the chaotic imagery! why?!
Sorry Olafur, your music only works with a video. The video gives content, the music leaves a lot of room ... made great, but at a concert WITHOUT video I would fall asleep.
My sister's name is Beth, and that's all I think of when I hear this
5 people prefer the remake as the original serie...
