It still amazes me when I see all of the heavies they were able to get up there. Men were from a different
breed back then 23:17 . You did some awesome research. Those old pix really bring out some of the
history. Its to bad someone stole some of the artifacts. At least there are a lot left. That is an amazing
site. Thanks for your hard work. Regards from Ody Slim

Thanks for the comment, every single time I come out here and to many of these sites I'm in awe at all the iron they hauled out here mainly by mule. I'm glad the artifacts that I seen from the last trip and trips before are still there. Even more to be found as well. Thanks for watching as always Ody Slim!

This video needed to come with a warning of "if you have a fear of heights" skip to 11.30 on the video! LOL! Amazing journey and explore! You see and find new things with each trip. Loved your photography and video! Each one gets better and better. Great to see the back then photos vs the present day, great add to your videos! When we travel, I too, take photos of the same buildings or mines just to see what has and has not changed throughout the years. Great documentation of our history. As always, thanks for taking us along with you! Really, really do enjoy your explores.

Hi Jerith, watching you traverse that scary small trail almost gave me a heart attack lol, you are one
brave guy to do that, sheesh. Such a cool video, I'm happy to see that the cabin looks almost as it did
the last time you visited, it must have been amazing to wake up there and see the stunning views of
the mountains and to hear nothing but the sounds of nature all around you.
I'm relieved to see the rest of the Pelton drive shaft is still there although damaged.
I loved seeing the beautiful views of the area, very rugged terrain though to be transporting all of the
heavy equipment up there, it must have taken more than just one man, a tough breed for sure.
Thank you for sharing, much love. xx ❤

      @WesternMineDetective  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Haha thanks alot Sue, that trail even for me was a bit much. I'm glad I got to the point that I did. That carved out portion was so cool. The cabin had all the same artifacts as the last trio and I was sure glad to see that no one has taken them. From what I've gathered there were two men that initially started the mine, but going into the 1920s and 1930s I'd guess maybe half a dozen at most worked the mine. Thanks for watching as always!

Amzing, crazy trail. You need a hat, hardhat, etc mount to hold your go pro on an edge like that, so you have both hands available to grab the edge if necessary. You shadow shows you holding the go pro, while on the ledge.

I'd sure love to try that trail one day. Maybe from Iron. That's what I've heard too, hard to imagine but decades of erosion and that water going over must've really degraded it. Thanks for watching!

Most of it is completely gone, but I found a wooden sign with all the old mileage markers under a bush. It's labeled PL & P trail. I did the section right below the bridge above the Horseshoe Annex Mine. Really scary and it disappears at Devil's Gulch. You can see a short clip of it in this video at the 12:29 marker.

    • @WesternMineDetective

Personal take on missing ore cart wheels:
If a crew of four works a mine, each just needs to take one wheel and the mine is shut without spares.
Also stops any casual visitors from working their mine.
Yes, I know they’re in Saloons etc but I‘m not sure how many of them were stolen after a mine shut down and how many were „the keys“ to working the underworld.
