There's a reason you guys have over 17 THOUSAND views in 1 hour... It's a joy to be able to share in your adventure.
You guys never fail to impress. I liked at the beginning Arielle was pulling the sled while Eric was walking behind. (Yes I realize that he was setting up the camera.) Last winter in Minnesota I saw the woman who has the cabin next door on the island dragging a very heavy sled from where we park out to the island. This woman is 80 years old and probably doesn't weigh much over 100 pounds but that didn't stop her. I did go over and help her carry her stuff up to her cabin and she was grateful. She was also pleased with the photo I took of her pulling the sled. She is a writer and comes up to the lake in the winter to focus on her writing.
I want to be her when I’m 80! Thank you for the inspiring anecdote!
Awesome
I also would like to be like this woman. I am trying. At 73 in a short two months or so, I for sure am trying 😮😊❤😊
I love that you guys always have a positive outlook on things whether you catch the mother load or one fish. I admire how you always check for and follow the rules set out for whatever you are on the hunt for. 😊😊😊
THANK YOU SO VERY VERY VERY VERY MUCH FOR SHOWING ALL OF US THE SNOW IN ALASKA. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY. YOUR CAT AND DOGS AND ALL YOUR FRIENDS.
That's very nice but why are you screaming?
Boomer that did not work in an office environment

Ummm, yes, it is considered yelling and rude unless you're visually impaired.
Blessings
This 69yr old city gal is thoroughly enchanted with your fishing escapades. Hope your Thanksgiving was full of heartfelt sentiments and yummy, yummy food!!! Im grateful for you and your channel. Blessings to you and yours!❤❤
Thank you 😊 we hope you had a splendid Thanksgiving as well 🍁
you guys are the living embodiment of the old saying "there's no bad weather just inappropriate clothing." your always out there doin what you want regardless of Alaska's weather👍👍
Always fun watching you guys! You make every episode a unique adventure. You are the best...along with The Hollars!
Ha, totally agree, and who couldn’t love Buggy. My husband and I also recently started watching, The Outdoor Boys, a wonderful dad, and his 3 young sons plus a great wife too, super entertaining! Now almost 7M subs.
One of things to love about them is, they will spend days and drive for hours but, when they catch just that one fish, we all share their joy.
You guys are always having fun, no matter the weather!
I was on pins and needles waiting for a fish! I'm declaring that Simple Living Alaska has opened ice fishing season!! I love it when you go out and get something and then go home and process and then...drum roll...get in the kitchen. Buttery garlic Pike...I swear I could taste it. There's a reason why so many of us love your channel. When Arielle laughed with such glee when that Pike came out of the water...priceless. You are the best example of rocking Alaska! As I typed this I saw your views rocket from 47K to to over 51K...and still climbing. I just love how you've so completely adapted to Alaska and not only made it your home, but fully embraced the life. ❤❤❤ Suzi
Thank you Suzi 😊 we hope you have a wonderful Holiday season!
Please please please! When you are contacted by big media companies stay true to you. Don’t let them change who you are. You deserve alllll the amazing things life has to offer. Don’t let them make you clickbait, or pose provocatively. We love you as you are! We see your hard work! ❤️❤️ from a bit south of you in AB!
THANKS SNOW ❄️ BIRDS 🐦 ❤😂🎉...LET THE WINTER ADVENTURES BEGIN....😊
The two of you are just, simply amazing!
You filmed this on my 65th birthday. On my bucket list!👍✌
Happy Birthday 🎉❤😄
What a beautiful interlude in my day - thanks guys!
It was kind of fun how most of the video was just you guys talking to each other, instead of to the camera.
Thanks for taking us fishing! Loved the ambiance! Beautiful footage! 💞
Just did a finger flip through the video thumbnails, man y’all have done an amazing amount of work in I’m guessing 9 months. Absolutely love watching everything the two of you do. Your planning, execution, and results are a credit to your drive.
Thankyou Ariel & Eric you bring so much joy keeping it simple & connecting with what each season brings.
Ok I snorted out a little coffee I was drinking when Arielle made that 8 inch joke. Lol.
Always the bright spot of my week is spending time with you guys. Wish the vid lasted longer. The landscape is just incredible, and the fishing is always fun. Loved those sun shots, so eerily cold, like you had journey'd back to the beginning of time. ❤ To all Lori
Hope you enjoyed your ice fishing experience and are back inside where it’s nice and warm!
This is the closest I’ll ever get to Alaska. Amazing photography. 🇦🇺
I have been waiting for the first ice fishing video!
I have several jars of garlic scape pesto in my freezer that I eat when I want something earthy and hot with pasta or a sandwich spread. I'm going to try it with fish, thanks to your inspiration!
One of my favorite things is to watch Ariel try feeding the hooligans to the birds.
Ah we are envious of that snowfall. We are patiently waiting for winter to slowly creep in. Great to see the pups along for the outing. And the unmistakable hum of the Coleman lantern, such a unique soft light it casts. Many a card game has been had in the shadows of the Coleman. Totally my highlight of this video pun intended.
My hand got cold just watching Eric set those tip ups. 🥶
Till the next one, tight lines 🎣
I fish northern pike a lot here in North Dakota, the best place for bait is 6 to 8 inches off of the bottom. Summer I let bait sit right on the bottom with great success. They are a scavenger fish also is why they are near the bottom.
I'm so happy to see you two got warm parkas 😂🙊
Love the way nothing holds you both back fantastic couple
Whenever you don't get skunked it is a good day fishing
Yay! Great job, Eric! Thanks for taking us on the dinner date with y'all. 🤣
A realistic day of fishing. That’s how it goes sometimes and you still shared a delicious meal!
So glad to see you guys getting out on the ice to fish... even if it was just the one. Consider it the first of many for the winter. ❤
So good to see you today. I was hoping you’d be on today. I love it when you take us fishing. Good luck🎣. So peaceful out there. Enjoy✌️🥰🇺🇸
I was rooting for you both to catch fish. Glad you did.
Not getting skunked is GREAT! I must say, I do miss a little ice fishing. Good job you two.
1 fish is better than nothing at least you two had fun right? Hope you two had a Happy and safe Thanksgiving! See you both in the next video. 🥰
Arielle & Eric, where is the ice house for fishing you had. Diesel heater and all.
Romantic dinner for two was funny. Two fish mcnuggets and no side. 😂
You guys rock!❤
I’ve enjoyed you guys for several years now and I just love seeing videos of y’all just killing it out there!!! Maybe one day I can also migrate up your way.
U may have only been there for 5 years but u 2 are truly Alaskans!!! 😊
Hey guys. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that your blessed in all you do. Blessings
"call me when you go in 8 inches" 🤣😂🤣 has me rolling
1966 (I was 8)we were fishing in Canada for northern pike and I remember my grandpa was using a lure that look like a peanut! Plus the red and white spinner you referred to & the peanut worked really well!
Did it look like a peanut in the shell or unshelled?
@@speakfreely.1776 in the shell in what I can remember they were hitting it really good
Really great to see you out and about with those beautiful down parkas!
this is great video my friend. keep update and see you in BALI
My guy is fishing in the middle of nowhere Alaska, with bait that is all the way from the Great Lakes. Human civilization for the win!
MY FAVORITE ALASKAN TH-cam COUPLE !
😁👍🏼
Miss seeing Bo, Bandit and Pepper. 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
No doubts about a white Christmas up your way!
Play safe. Good fishing!
I known you guys are really busy. I really miss you and your adventures, everything you do is really interesting,

Good evening guys. I was waiting for a new video all day today 😊 thank you for sharing your very interesting life with us. Have a wonderful winter. ❤
You are having a great winter. The video was very funny. Be happy and keep smiling.❤❤❤
The indoor cooking feels soo homey! I love it
Love some pike, very tasty. walleye gets all the attention around here but I think Pike is every bit as good.
I really admire your creativity. I watched your video and couldn't take my eyes off it. It's really great
So it begins!!🐟🦐🎣❄ Where there are "rats" there are minks! Get trappin' you 2!❤❤
So happy that you at least got a fish! Take a break from working and go fishing for awhile! Love 💕 y’all!
Just beautiful 😍 the views are amazing.thanks for sharing guys ..always a pleasure 😊

We always love seeing your videos drop. How are the bones in that pike? It's been years since I had pike. Deb and I always watch your videos together. The one thing that we so appreciate is how respectful you two are to each other. We just love you two.
We had to pick them out 🙂 but it's a favorite fish of ours. When they are bigger Eric can cut them so there are less bones.
Bones are why we always pickled pike. The bones dissolve and it's delicious!
I can't believe the ice already that solid! Know you both love the challenge and you definitely deserved some time off.❤
love your video's I've watched them all!!! Tip. Try fishing about a foot off bottom. The pike will run threw the weeds on the bottom and shoot out to ambush there pray. Also if using plastics set the hook when you feel them. plastics dont taste good unless scented and they will spit them out. But with real meat (fish or hotdogs) give them a few to eat. hope this helps. Happy fishing and good luck.
Sure love your videos. Thank you for keeping it clean without cursing, drinking etc. I love to watch your videos with our grandchildren. The views of Alaska are priceless. Stay safe.
Hellos from Finland🇫🇮 to Alaska🇺🇲 😎💪.
We hawe same weather and sunlight as you too! And.. fishing is allso the same 😅..
You can't just go and get some fish ore game in forest.
Some time you get, some you don't..
But we can all ways whis to eweryone good luck to food hunting 😊👍👍👍.
Wery good winter to eweryone☃️❄️
It's funny to sit here in CT drinking Bustello coffee as your pouring it on-screen on TH-cam.
Greetings from Australia.
That was a nice fish! Well done!
It’s always a pleasure to tag along on your expeditions Looking forward to your next adventure.
I binged your construction videos over the past few weeks and found your lifestyle to be what many of us only dream of. I always wanted to go to Alaska when I was younger, but could never afford it. I ended up in the Mountains of Colorado, very similar weather to yours.
Wanted to comment on your preparation of the Northern. Fileting is correct for this fish, but you will have a much better eating experience if you use a seasoned fish flour and cook in hot oil. putting a crispy texture on it and cooking out all of the bones. To prepare the fish for cooking this way, you should "score" your fish to allow the oil to get into the meat and cook the bones out. Similar to walleye, but you don't have to score walleye. Scoring is done on a fish board with ribs, putting the skin side down on the board and slicing the meat 3/4's the way through every 1/4 inch or so. This allows the hot oil to get into the meat and cook the bones out.
I use a medium seasoned fish flour, also seasoning the fish prior to cooking, and peppering the fish while cooking. Cook until the bubbles stop or reduce to nil. This is when all the water is out of the fish and it is done.
Hope your new place is closer to good fishing. Glad to see you having fun instead of working all the time. Be safe. Till next time...
Love fishing for Jack fish. They put up such a great fight. Fished for those in Charlie Lake up in Northern BC. They love the red devil lures. I caught a Perch once, it was about 15 feet from shore when out of nowhere this Jackfish jumped to the surface and swallowed my Perch lol I ended up getting skunked.
Maybe one fish ... but a blessing in a myriad of ways!!
Thank you for your videos.
I hope you guys make it through the winter with your one fish. 😮😮😂😂
I hope so too!
As I start the video and look out at the blanket of white all around you, I see the daylight time vs nighttime and the low temps vs the high. We’re about to get our first snow of the year in Oklahoma. It will be a very light dusting, but our ground temps are still too high for anything to stick. I’ve also been vocal about the falling temps, too. But, your videos are a great reminder of things I can be grateful for, here in the now. Like, mostly no snow and above freezing temps. I still love Alaska. Like Dolly (then Whitney) said: I will always love you…guys. 😂❤
Your videos clarity is amazing great job guys love your videos 🍻🍻🍻👍👍👍👍👍❤️
What a beautiful sky as the sun was setting the colours were outstanding.
Yippeee! New video time!!
So glad you took some time for a fishing break. So beautiful and looks so cold. The fish were probably hanging out in their "beds" 😂 (sorry don't know what came over me!) Take care, I look forward to spending time with you every week. Your projects are awe inspiring. Your sawmill shed is killer!!
Great catch# I love watching your fishing trips or adventures❤
I believe that mound is called a push up. You could set traps in it for Muskrats🦞🫎🦌. Nice video. .
If you have not tried it, you need to try pickling those northern pike.
I noticed the Y bones when you were eating it.
We pickle the small ones like you caught because the Y bones are dissolved in the process.
They keep for a year when done this way.
Don’t get too fancy.
Not a pile of herbs and such.
Just vinegar, salt, and tiny amount of sugar.
Just simplly fillet and cut out the rib and back.
Leave the Y bones in and pack em in the jar.
Pour over the boiling brine and seal it up.
Leave them for a few weeks and enjoy.
Better than herring any day.
I'm still curious how you two and the animals like the new place? I love that you have upgrades. You deserve it.
We love it 😍
Ohhh boy, it’s ice fishing season, I love when you two go ice fishing, nice catch Eric 🎉❤. The cooking of the fish looks delicious 😂. Much love to all.
Hoping you guys make it to your remote winter cabin again this winter, those are some of my favourite videos... Have a good winter...
Pouting, only a 20 minute video. I love the longer ones! Keep em coming!
I am so glad that you guys got to take a break from all of the hard work and go fishing. With so many new places to explore around you, i am sure you will be enjoying the winter months checking out the new surroundings.
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well. I am looking forward to your next video. Maybe you guys could do another Q and A one soon. 😊
Hey, persistance pays off - one is a good taste and better than none, besides it was fun!! 😊 Stay safe, be happy!!❤
Yummy! You are so entertaining! You must have lots of patience to fish! Enjoy! 💕🇺🇸💕 21:56
What you need is a fish locator. It's probably less than what you pay for some of your power tools and will make your ice fishing adventure more enjoyable. I've used one for forty years and wouldn't go on the ice without one. It tells you the depth, the type of bottom your fishing and will run several hours on a charge.
Love your channel ! From the Great Lakes 🇨🇦
Always cook the back boneless pieces, they are great eating! Looks great and tasty.
Try to locate weedbeds in the summer and make note of them for the winter ice fishing. Pike will strike at anything flashy, usually put tip-up bait about 5 feet under the ice, same for spearing decoys. dead smelt make great bait for pike & muskie. I would avoid getting too close to muskrat holes, you might fall through the ice.
I am not a winter person and been watching your videos for over a year. I cannot believe how some people, you Arielle and Eric like to live almost 6 months of the year in snow and ice. Well your projects never miss a beat. Enjoy your fishing certainly you are enjoying nature at its best. Cheers🥰🙏✝️🦃🇺🇸🇨🇦🎯
It definitely goes both ways. I'd rather sit by a fire, than immediately start sweating from the hot sun once I step outside.😂 To each, their own!
Make a video inside the cabin in front of the fireplace eating and relaxing 😊😊
Excellent !! Thank you.
I’m loving watching the ticker fly by showing us how fast your views are flying past!!!!!
Good times!! Thank you for sharing !!
at least you caught something and the views were outstanding. thanks for letting all of us enjoy
