- A group of U.S. lawmakers met with Taiwan's new president after China conducted two days of military drills around the island. NBC News Correspondent Ryan Nobles sat down with House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-Texas) for an exclusive interview in Taipei, Taiwan to discuss U.S. support for the self-governing island.

If the U.S. hesitates to get involved in Taiwan and East Asia, China's policy of foreign expansion will get out of hand, eventually leading to the occupation of Guam and Hawaii and a direct threat to the West Coast of the U.S. If the U.S. does not get involved in Taiwan and East Asia, China will be able to expand its influence in the region.

If a war does happen and China wins regarding the American military in the vicinity of Taiwan they will gain enough confidence to expand occupation. Guam, Hawaii may be on the menu if China gains the confidence only after going head to head with American military.
