Every single person in the world has the same reaction about queen Hilling, she is just overprotecting Bojji 😢. This show is full of "bad people" with good intentions.
The idea was that Queen Hilling became overprotective of Boji after she realized he's physically and possibly mentally unfit to be king. She was never shown to have treated Daida any differently than Boji, as in more loving toward Daida than Boji. Focusing on raising a strong tough leader in Daida meant that Boji would be kept safe from the dangers of being a king.
I think we also have to remember that the show is cherrypicking specific scenes showing Hiling being harsh towards Boji. This doesn't necessarily mean she treated him like that all the time, nor does it mean she wasn't kind to him anymore after Daida was born.

No real person would act differently than Hilling did. Who would let a small, deaf, weak and possibly mentally underdeveloped child go on an adventure alone? Not to mention any danger not related to their conditions, like being a prince running around unguarded. But in stories we want the MC to have their freedom to do what they want, at least when they are kindhearted individuals(add whatever unfairness they face in life). Nobody from the audience wants Boji to stay in the castle or not be King,so even reasonable obstacles are basically an "antagonistic forces".
Ranking of Kings is so cute. Prepare to cry even more! The thing that makes this show special is that everyone has their intentions and even the worst people have a good heart deep down. Its extremely wholesome and Bojji is so cute!

Love Healing she's one of my favourites ❤ She comes of as a mean person but she's just very blunt imo she doesn't filter her words probably says whatever she thinks also I definitely don't think she made Daida the king because he's her biological son I say it as she really thinks he's more suited to be king and that boji just doesn't have those qualities (at least yet) also I wouldn't say that she " stopped loving boji or outlasted him after giving birth " because don't forget we only saw a glimpse of her interactions with boji in the first ep and she was completely against sending him away so she definitely loved boji all these years just as a queen he stopped being her priority, she probably focused more on raising daida to be king and doing her duties as queen which is probably what caused a gap in their relationship especially from boji's prospective but she never stopped caring and loving boji as we saw this ep . Also I'm pretty sure bojji is 15 - 16 years old because daida looks 12 - 13 .
Ranking of kings made my head hurt when I binge watch it. Too many twist and non stereotypical characters you will just give up thinking what will happen next lol

I was very impressed with what they did with Queen Hiling character, to me it makes complete sense why she treated Boji the way she did. But in regards mean things she kept telling Boji it was mostly about his position as the next in line to be a king. To be a king means to meet certain standards and in her eyes even with all her love towards Boji she just didn't see Boji as a king. Strong leader figure that would make people feel safe and trust he'll protect them and that would make other countries cautious of messing with their country. It's a bit mean but also makes sense. She also saw Boji as a cute little child that she needed to protect from the dangers of the world. And also from the day Daida was born I guess she didn't see much change in him in regards his strength and ability to lead the country while his own son, Daida, was showing promising results. And since her own son which is more capable despite being younger would be slighted by the rule of succession in favour of a less capable in her eyes Boji to become a king just because he's older I think she couldn't help but feel a bit of animosity towards Boji. Add that to her binding overprotective smothering love towards Boji and you can see why she acted that way with Boji. In her eyes Boji should just be his own cute little boy and live cushy happy life (but again I guess grow up a little and gain some dignity in the eyes of people) while Daida becomes a worthy king. I like that, she's a flawed character.

Bojji is not 5, I will not tell you what his age is but think that Daida looks clearly more than 5 year old and Bojji is his big brother. In the flashback Bojji looks like he is 3 so if you think how old Daida must be in present time you can kinda infere Bojji age.

There was a small nudge to Queen Hiling's character in the first episode. When she learned that Boji was robbed, she commanded the guards to find the robber and have him executed. If she was as bad as the story would have liked us to believe, she wouldn't have even cared imo.
Never saw game of thrones huh? Tywin hates tyrion but still understands whenever tyrion is publicly insulted, the lannister name is damaged as a whole. I know it doesnt at all matter in this show, but when it comes to kingdoms and dynasties, there are esoteric factors beyond the individuals.
I think these girls doesn't have any value yet to be a mother since their protective instinct towards child that want to going on journey alone is "good and go ahead" but scolding him because it's dumb and dangerous is a big no for them, but well yeah they're going to learn to not prejudice people too soon, Good Reaction anyway girls

I mean, it’s good writing, probably one of the best in anime, but on par with books.
