I haven’t brought anything from a high street shop for the past 20 years since I have more purchasing rights when buying online, I can buy an item have it delivered the next day which I’m happy to wait one day, I can return the product within 14 days and I don’t need a reason for why I want to return the product, unlike the high street shops where they don’t have to accept any return, the only returns that they legally must accept is when the product is faulty anything else is the discretion of the store, Another thing that is better buying online is that I don’t have to speak to annoying people try to help me buy something, as well as other shoppers getting in my way, Also I can find what I want cheaper online. So personally to me there is no purpose or benefit of the high street.

What is so essential inside a retail store for these people? They can easily go online and buy the same items. Can't they just stay home for a few months until this crisis is fully resolved? By engaging in unnecessary travel, you are going to be part of the problem rather than the solution. Just look at what is happening in the United States. Thousands of new COVID cases have been reported in states like Texas, Florida and California because people started flocking to beaches and partying around as if the virus has completely gone.

They can’t complain about having no money if they shop til they drop! To their credit, stores like Primark & JD Sports are not encouraging the queues by slashing prices or discouraging social distancing. People (particularly young people) are just bored & want something to do as universities and schools are shut. It’s like a retail therapy sugar rush which creates initial excitement but wears off.

You forgot to mention that you can't catch the Covids online too.
Retail creates jobs and boosts the economy your not helping make a economic recovery
hope you realise, that online shopping isn't Cheap anymore as you might think, added postal costs rather than Bulk shipped to a store, additional Business store fees and the time Wasted sitting in waiting for a parcel to arrive(need to be home at 2pm, means you can't spend your day at work Or Go out for a day trip) it takes up time and Booking a Specific time slot costs quite a Bit Minimum £8-10.
plus Many many Retailers are now Matching their Online Prices with Store prices so to the customer it makes no difference. good examples are WHS, Water stones and Gamesworkshop, Branded Retailers don't sell cheaper online. so why bother Waiting in for it to arrive when you can just pop to the store with the hour before your shift cut the cost of Delivery, not relying on the postie to arrive on time making you panic you might be late for work or meeting with Friends.
from a business perspective, the Brick and mortar store is the same price now as the Warehouse fees per year, in some cases the Warehouse fees from amazon, ebay etc are Way higher.
you must be young Hardly working, doing part-time shifts so you are always home for the postie to arrive, many people can only be home for the post at the weekends. otherwise, it means missed post, a trip the depot a wasted morning on a weekday that could be spent doing a Daycation. time management isn't a strong suit these days xxd and before you call me an old timer I'm in my early 30's.
kiju 13 it creates low waged jobs.
@@gbjanuary really, I'd think any job is a job and wages only go up in the current employment market due to higher or more responsibilities even for retailers or warehouse pickers.
You by online supporting amazon, they will replace their staff with robots and do away with the shops, all you'll have left is the packers putting your item in a cardboard box for guess what "minimum wage".
Support the dam retail shops and livelihoods not a dam Corprate monoplay that is adament to cut jobs before we are all ready for it, millions of people work in the retail sector that doesn't just mean shop staff.
That's private couriers, warehouse pickers, packers, giftwrappers in those warehouses, butchers in the supermarkets.
We keep pushing this online crap, even the big supermarkets will shut their stores.
“Wearing a mask indoors is becoming increasingly the socially acceptable thing to do“ well if that ain’t bloody mind control .. wearing a mask is not the law .. I will not be forced to wear one
B0ss of the century
I sat in traffic next to me a lady in her car was wearing a mask 😂 she was on her own I thought what’s the point in that then lol worlds gone mad!!
Butterfly N are you sure it was a lady? Maybe a sheep?
Just shows how shallow we are as a nation!
It’s not too bad in summer wait till winter starts
what do you mean, not that bad?! have you seen the death count? show some respect
I like the way BBC reporters talk like this so that they get the message across to the hard of thinking .
Fighting over a shop?
What has the world come to?
Too stupid to know Nike has a website. 😂 Darwin at it’s best
For school children it’s not just what’s been missed but also how much has regressed. Unless the children have been diligent in maintaining their learning don’t expect success
That’s sad
Schools. What a joke!
Look at all those people without masks on! And the shop owner talking about how safe it was while not wearing a mask 😳
Never seen the Brits get up so early. They'll be reserving their 2m distanced waiting spot with a beach towel soon. 😂
DEFUND THE BBC i did have a like but where did that go.,Oh sorry bbc
If you mean a 'thumb up', they.. and comments, are disappearing like crazy from BBC comment sections!
@Johnny Rad If you want to watch TV and some other things, you *must* buy their licence. This is at least a place to air your views
@Johnny Rad Are you trying to argue with yourself?
@Johnny Rad Haha! You answered my question
Thank god for online shopping and home delivery
The farcical show goes on.
Well what the fuck do you expect people to do? people want to live their lives
@@sayno2lolzisback I think he might mean the social distancing.
Here, children below 12yr old n adults 60yr old over r forbidden to enter any shopping malls or markets.
This is absolutely madness,no necessary on something unreal
Essential is a relative value & changes person to person. Why I could buy perfume in Boots, but couldn't visit the disability shop to buy a walking stick. My biggest complaint is that public benches were removed. I realise why, but it makes it hard for disabled & elderly to get everything done in 1 shop without a place to sit.
Lab Rats!! now think about that
They've even marked out mazes for them to learn!
How not smart is it to come from a lockdown and sit in line right next to each other
Back to normality everyone! Back to....Ohhhhhhh....
The world has gone completely mad.
I’ll NEVER comply or consent... I’m exempt for medical reasons and I don’t have to disclose my medical information either💥
Wow I've found a wild Karen in the youtube comments! I bet you also demand a manager the moment you walk into a store.
Jammy Thing stop being racist and do some research and get your head from up your arse and realise we are all in this together.
OK grandma, stop making a big deal out of nothing.
@@jammything3573 She's probably (rightly) more worried about all those Dicks and Jimmys wandering free all over the place

Also how the hell is calling someone Karen racist!?! That is such a Karen thing to say.
Businessman calls for shortening of distancing yet other news reports that distancing indoors is much higher risk than outside. Greed vs sensibility & life.
I have never been into a Primark and not about to start in lockdown.
You're not missing anything! Cheap nasty clothes which change shape after a couple of washes 👎

"What is so essential inside a retail store for these people?". Yes, but people in general are animals of habit.
And I see your staff are happy to forgo the facemask too. Nice to know that you take your responsibilities frivolously as well.
We love online for handyness but we need to physically shop has to be said
Not for everything though I believe
James Mcauley agree!
I think that I last bought clothes about 10 years ago. I won't be queueing for Primark.
If you ask people what is essential they will say MacDonald and Primark and if they don't say then they stay in queue
Are you saying some people are superficial & will just shop until they drop, maybe of Covid-19.
They just entertaining their heart by doing this in a lonely world
What worries me is the old, disabled & vulnerable will never be able to manage these queues.
The people who think they wont get sick dont mind of they infect someone else.
We need a change in the school system anyway this is a great way as we get back to normal to change it
I’ll be shopping online if I NEED anything until this is over thank you (:
Yeah I'm not putting up with this bullshit
until this is over LOl this will never be over. You think all this was made up to just disappear in few months? we will never go back to normal, that is not the plan. There are thousands of doctors saying it, by the way.
Vanessa Ruiz will keep shopping online then if I need anything (:
They can’t complain about having no money if they shop til they drop! To their credit, stores like Primark & JD Sports are not encouraging the queues by slashing prices or discouraging social distancing. People (particularly young people) are just bored & want something to do as universities and schools are shut. It’s like a retail therapy sugar rush which creates initial excitement but wears off.
How can children possibly fail there exams with all that technology. Smart board, Ipad on there table, WiFi etc. All we had was a black board and some wallpaper on the back of my books. Sorry, chalkboard. I don't want to offend anyone.
There's way too many distractions. That's how they can fail. Duh. Back in your day all you had was rocks and sticks to entertain yourself. Obviously you'd be better off actually learning.
@@theplug4981 u r carect. I shud ov lernt mor in skool in sted of beeting roks and stiks togeter.
If this truly is 'the new normal' its the death of the highstreet. Personally I think its about time. Our shared spaces could be better used in other ways.
Yes, roll on the death of the high street, it can't come soon enough. We do need a government that will look after the unemployed shop workers though. I'm not sure we have that at the moment.
💯% agree! 🙏
Pathetic this was today. Why queue up so early. Can think of far better things todo than this. Give it time, wait a few days for it to calm down then g later avoiding queues hooefully. Not had to Q anywhere during the lockdown as i approach the situation using a strategy of avoiding peak periods.
Loved the comments. They've hit human nature right on the nail. So much of all that barging and anger is cringe worthy.
Online shopping will be the new norm. The high street shopping experience is being further eroded.
Someone should tell Tim that his facemask won't do anything if he's not wearing it properly, twisting the straps like he has done is what's causing the sides to gape and he may as well not be wearing one at that point...
Face covering on public transport became compulsory today, such amazing timing on that one Ay!
It's not about shopping per se but the need to do something normal go out etc
Still not partaking in this madness.
