    Hi Ginno Pocholo here great lessons to be aware of when coming to the Philippines I grew up there too in Paranaque and I had my own experience of a hard life specially when it comes to water too and frequent power interruptions those were the days

    You’re definitely right about motorcycles getting in accidents. My cousin slip on a mango from his motorcycle just yesterday. It’s extremely common accident when there’s of mango trees nearby, it’s a slip and slide.

    • @dazeltv1351

      I just see so many motorcycle accidents in our area on Facebook; fatalities included. Some unnecessary in my opinion if only people cared about their safety. I didn't even think about the fallen mangoes on the road. I see those all over here.

      True. They are the most inconsiderate pricks on them bikes. They drive super fast on motor bike and walk super slow. Strangest group of people that I ever met. Incredibly inconsiderate on a motorbike, but super friendly face to face.

    Thank you for the informative video. Yes, grab is safer than taking a regular taxi. My friend's 70-year-old aunt was murdered last year when she used a taxi. Remember to be careful always, just like anywhere, scammers and evil people are active there.

    Planning to get a motorbike when I get back to Philippines but I think I’m gonna change my mind . I thought riding a motorbike in the province is safer than Manila but I guess I’m wrong they’re all over around ph 😂😅

    • @dazeltv1351

      I thought the same thing when we bought our motor scooter. Motorcycles here come at you from everywhere. They even ride against traffic; called counter flow. Good decision not to get a motorcycle unless you get a sidecar for it. Take care our friend.

    • @Rhandlezz

      Actually when it's really crowded here in Angeles city, I feel safer riding motorcycle than walking because you will get hit more quickly by walking on side of road versus riding with the flow of traffic on a bike. Can't speak about in the province, though.

  • @Rhandlezz
    @Rhandlezz 4

    And 9 times out of 10 they dont look before pulling out onto the road. If you on your motorcycle, you have to be completely focused, or bad thinge can happen to you. And with you being a foreigner, you will be automatically blamed.

    • @dazeltv1351

      @@dazeltv1351 yes, same here. Once you learn what to look out for here when riding a motorcycle, it becomes incredibly fun to ride a motor bike.

    Most drivers here in the Philippines are rude. They tailgate, cut you off, don't follow road rules, almost all don't yield to pedestrians on the crosswalk, etc etc.

    • @dazeltv1351

      I think it's the lack of drivers safety training and education. Most get their license without any formal classroom driver safety training.

    Always enjoy going out for a walk with you and learning about the Phils. 👍. Aklan seems to have such a nice peaceful vibe. if you wanted to go to Iloilo city for the weekend to go shopping, what would that look like? I’m guessing a few hours on a bus and maybe $10-$20 US.fare? Same for boracay, but closer?

    • @dazeltv1351

      Glad you enjoy my walk and talk. Aklan is awesome! It is my forever home. Kalibo to Iloilo City is 4 hours on any air-conditioned van for around 400 pesos ($7): you will get dropped at SM City Iloilo. Hardly any stops. If you take the Ceres bus (also air-conditioned) from Kalibo to Iloilo City (slightly cheaper); it will be at least 5 hours because the bus makes multiple stops. From Kalibo to Caticlan (where you need to catch the ferry to Boracay) it is about 1 1/2 hours on the air-conditioned van; cost is 150 peso ($2.50). Also, Ceres bus available from Kalibo to Caticlan; cheaper but takes longer. Take care my friend.

    Good morning Gino 😎I enjoy your videos. I am from Oregon My friends wife is from Kalibo… the plan is to visit in December. The question is do you have to have a Philippines bank account to use Grab or GCash? Thank you.

    • @dazeltv1351

      Good morning my friend. Glad you enjoy our videos. No need for a Philippine bank account for both. Once you have the Grab app on your phone, you can go to any 7 Eleven store, Cebuana, or SM Business Centers and load money in your Grab account. For GCash, you will need a Philippines SIM card (you can purchase at Manila airport). You can load money into your GCash account at the same places you load money for Grab. To get fully verified for GCash requires more; but you can get by not being fully verified.

    love the video Gino. My girlfriend makes fresh lumpia everyday for sale. I have yet to taste but will on my next visit. Im not familiar with the the ingredient you stated, something from the coconut tree?

    • @dazeltv1351

      Thank you my friend. I love fresh lumpia. It’s made from “ubod” (heart of a young palm tree). It’s used in many Aklan dishes; it’s like a vegetable. Usually diced into small pieces; perfect for lumpia. It is packed with beneficial minerals and antioxidants. I even add “ubod” to my fresh salad; give the salad added texture.

    Agree that motorcycles are unsafe here. I started riding after taking a motorcycle safety course in the USA. I had 24 years of accident free driving. The course is not offered here. I felt unsafe riding a scooter here, so I got a car.

    • @dazeltv1351

      Motorcycle accidents are just a normal occurrence here. Having no motorcycle safety course offered doesn’t help.

    I suggest if you open a GCash account to only put a minimal amount that you need and just add more if necessary. There's been nightmare stories of people losing alot of money on their account with no recourse whatsoever.

    • @dazeltv1351

      Great suggestion my friend. I only keep enough money on our GCash account to pay for our internet, electricity, and Netflix.
