    I have been married to a Filipina for almost 30 years and I am still amazed at her work ethic. It is very clear that when she retires from her job next year, they will find it very difficult to replace her. One of my pet names for her is "super wife".

    The same facts and situations apply here in Australia. We simply love Filipinos and welcome them above many other cultures who simply do not assimilate as easily. Filipinos adapt, whilst still proudly showing their own proud culture. They are honest, religious and yes, hard working. The women are simply gorgeous and remain feminine, which makes for a perfect wife and mother. Unfortunately, its not easy for them to come here. Aussies love Filipinas!

      @@ocahkipihikew I'm sorry you had to witness this behavior from someone from my culture. Sadly growing up, I've witnessed this behavior even from elders who should know better. A lot of us don't know our full history or have been fed portions of it to distort the truth of our colonialism and are bred to be model minorities. While learning to be an ally for the Indigenous groups in Canada (which means learning about history especially the ones intentionally overlooked- ie. residential schools, lack of justice missing women) I discovered similar experiences within Filipino history. We also fought and we also lost and we did what we can to adapt. I'm proud to be Filipino and see our potential beyond being polite immigrants and servants and that growth goes hand in hand by becoming strong allies with Indigenous, Black, and other groups experiencing discrimination.

    • @xxdalionxx

      @@ocahkipihikew that's very unfortunate.and I am so sorry this happened to you. I'm Filipino and I personally feel that indigenous Canadians and Americans to be my ancestral brothers and sisters. And treat them the same way I treat other Filipinos. I see many similarities in regards to culture as well as appearance. And I really care about the community and it's well being. Most Filipinos will treat others well. But unfortunately not all Filipinos are as open minded or as accepting as others. I know very well that one bad experience with one particular racial group can ruin a person's perspective on the entire racial group. Many are susceptible to it. Born and bred Canadians in urban areas like Toronto and Vancouver less so but for immigrants who have very little exposure to other people groups are the most susceptible. I love in rural Ontario a place where immigrants are less than 3% of the population and as a Filipino I behave extra well as to not ruin the Filipino image even though I speak ,talk, and walk like any other Caucasian Canadian having lived in Canada since I was 7. I even curse and say full send as much as the average hockey boy but cause of my skin colour I have to represent an entire country to the people around me in my everyday life.

    Filipinos are a great fit for Canada because Canada historically is reputed for being a peace keeping nation...polite and caring in general and God fearing. By model, family is key and respect for their neighbours is a trait shared by both nations. Filipinos will never insult a host nation by trying to impose their ways, but rather assimilate themselves because entitlement is not in their vocabulary... They earn their keep and they work hard to earn respect. I'm not saying all, but by comparison to some other immigrants...a much higher percentage.

    There are few good reasons why most Filipinos have the ability to assimilate into different society, especially in western countries.
    1. Western influence, we've been colonized by Spain and the US for many, many years. We've been exposed to different cultures.
    2. Filipinos are very tolerant and generally friendly, we embrace different cultures and traditions and enjoy other cuisines other than ours.
    3. "Utang na loob" (debt of gratitude), welt felt indebted or obliged to do good things in return for the good opportunity given to us. I am not sure if this tradition exists in other culture but this common in Filipino culture. We believed in the saying "Don't bite the hand that feeds you" I think those are the characteristics makes Filipinos likable to other cultures.

      Watch out! Most filipinos are backstabbers, gossipers and suffer severe "crab mentality" (Especially the filipino women who just migrated here) Also they have poor assimilation when coming in to this country. Most filipinos should go back, they are not meant for the west. Also make sure you keep an eye on your bags or wallets, because when a filipino is around, your belongings might dissapear in a blink of an eye.

    I’m a first generation Filipino in the USA. My mother’s side is entirely from the Philippines, as well as some portions Chinese.
    The reason why we aren’t ever vilified is that, as you say, Filipinos adapt into the local cultures well and are more closely tied to western ideals than, say, the Chinese. The Chinese specifically get a bad image because the Chinese tend to be extremely eastern and hold very disagreeable behaviors at times for westerners.

    If Filipinos will change Canadians, that would be, for all Canadians to own a Karaoke machine and sing sometimes until the wee hours. You better sing, whether you’re off key or not, in a gathering...no exception. We take turn in singing before we go home when attending a party. Then you have to eat using spoon, not fork, or simply eat with your hands...Thanks for this, Sir!

      Haha, you're right! I'll save money for a Karaoke machine!

    • @lionhearted1969
      @lionhearted1969 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Karaoke is not a Filipino thing. It's a Japanese thing. Filipinos only adopted it when Japanese exported it to the Philippines. Most Filipino homes, rich or poor, may have some form of a karaoke equipment like a stand-alone karaoke machine or a simple karaoke microphone and a TV or stereo system.

    • @lionhearted1969
      @lionhearted1969 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @Pacho_Hubu...I can't confirm that, sorry. If you can provide a link to prove your claim, then I would appreciate it. However, based on the articles that I read, it is Daisuke Inoue, a Japanese musician who invented karaoke in 1971. As what I've understand, Inoue didn't patent his invention so four years later, in 1975, Roberto del Rosario, a Filipino, has 'developed' a similar machine based on the existing 'karaoke machine' that Inoue had invented.

    • @bringbacon5153
      @bringbacon5153 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      lionhearted1969 the inventor is roberto del rosario you can google it though

    • @lionhearted1969
      @lionhearted1969 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Bring Bacon...Not true at ll. You should understand very well when you read articles. Roberto del Rosario developed his 'Sing-along System' a karaoke machine in 1975. Karaoke was invented by Inouke in 1971, four years before Roberto created his ''Sing-along System'. The technology was invented by Inoue and Roberto's sing-along machine is an innovation based on that technology. So Roberto is just an innovator of the karaoke, not inventor. Otherwise, the patent name 'karaoke' would have taken a Filipino name. Karaoke is a Japanese word which means 'Empty Orchestra'.

    I think it made a huge difference that the Philippines were colonized by Spain then the United States. It made the people more accepting to other cultures or races. It's somewhat easier for Filipino immigrants to assimilate to the Canadian western society as they are somewhat exposed already to this type of society back home. From the everyday exposure of American pop cultures, music & movies even American politics & news. A lot of Filipino have this sense that Canadians & Americans are not really that different..lol. Plus the majority of Filipinos if not all are Catholics or Christians. They pretty much celebrate almost the same holidays like the Canadians like Christmas, Easters, or Halloween. So yeah I guess that's the advantage of trying to adjust & live in a new country like Canada 🇨🇦👍

This is not our filipino agenda, its your own elite rich 1% who are whites like the rothchilds, rockefeller etc... White genocide is coming because your own people from the elite do not want to pay you higher wages for the same amount of work that migrants can do. Do not take your anger out on us filipinos, we are peaceful and we take care of your race whole heartedly because filipinos are caring people.

    Filipinos are adaptable person. They will blend. And i would say a good example of immigrants should be. Sad thing is , filipino citizens perhaps have the most difficult process to obtain visa to canada compared to indian and chinese. Perhaps that is one thing why filipino work hard when they get there. For all the hardship and long process just to be there, they appreciate and thankful to canada for the opportunity they have given. And also most filipino work there to earn money not only for themselves but also for their loved ones and families back home.

And before we even leave our country, Philippines, we won’t be given clearance to fly abroad without taking PDOS (Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar) which basically teaches us what to do and not to do in the country we’re going. Filipinos are adventurous, hardworking, and religious. Many Filipinos wanted to work in Canada and definitely to gain Canadian citizenship for good. I guarantee Filipinos can build a great nation because of that 3 major characteristics they possess. They are cultured willing to keep old folks instead of sending out in nursing homes . They have close family ties. Canadian children will have a deeper understanding why parents or grandparents really really need to be loved and respected. God Bless Canada 🇨🇦

    Mark, thank you for your video and I'm also thankful of your positive experiences with Filipinos. I need to say Canadians are also some of the friendliest I've met in Canada and other countries. Here's one of the many memorable encounters I had with Canadians- one time and as promised, I treated a friend (not Canadian) to bungy cord jumping in Canada. While we were in a ferry, I gave him all my coins to play the video game machine while I watched him play by himself. Meantime, a stranger (most likely Canadian) behind us asked me if I want to play with him. When I said I was out of coins, he replied that he has enough for us. Then when I said I don't know how to play, he replied that he will show me how. While he and I were playing, I couldn't figure out why a stranger, and not my friend, asked me to play. Since then and even after many years, I'm still struggling to remember if my 'friend' ever asked me to play with him. Maybe Canadians and Filipinos are basically both naturally very friendly and mutually respectful of each other. Maybe why they get along so well. Glad to come across your videos. Will start sharing them with non-English speaking friends who want to learn/ improve their English. I admire what you're doing.

    It's both a blessing and a curse(?) that Filipino easily assimilates to the country they work at. Like for culture, food, we like to remain low profile and even come to a point where we're apologetic that people will hardly know about them. It took years for Filipino food and Philippines in general to be known beside the domestic helper stereotype. But I think that also help us stick and be loved by the people of the country we work at. Most of them come to wherever to earn money, money that are sent back to the families waiting back home. In order to survive, they have to adapt. And it's not just English that Filipinos are "good" at. English is a given. We learn it from school. But it's not uncommon for Filipino working abroad to learn their language in a year or two. It's needed in order to gain more access to jobs. My sister for example went to Japan and had to learn Japanese so she can have more options where to work at. Even inside the Philippines alone, we're used to learning more than just one language. In our small island province, there are already 3-5 dialects that people speak.

    The problem is Filipinos hardly ever stand up for themselves and let themselves be pushed around. The live in care giver who was looking after my grandma had a chemistry degree from the Philippines I asked her "Why are you doing a 4 month community college certificate in food handling?. You should have applied to do a Master in Chemistry in Canada" instead they'd count your 4yrs chemistry degree Philippines as an equivalent undergrad failing that they'll grant you a qualifying year and then let you into a full masters program. She gave me the I wish I knew that and just accepted her fate rather then trying. Filipinos sometimes don't know any better and just accept things or make things up based on there assumption without any fact and try to post it as fact. My sister and I were born here but her husband and his family are fobs, constantly they make wrong assumptions of Canada and were always trying to "guide" them in the right direction.

    Coz we Filipino are use to respect any foreigners in our country. Even those who became colonizers. and we dont have to force any country to have our law's if ever we're taking over, and we dont have to change anything, bcoz everything changes when times goes by.. I just hope for canada to take care of its christian values for it is always a way for peace and greatness of every country.

    We wouldnt change anything in canada, we love the canadian laws and its rights , in the 70s canada was still a little biased towards immigrants in general, but by the 90s it was great . canadians became a lot more tolerant and understanding of what life is like for immigrants living in danger and poverty in their own countries. Im assuming that the education and media had a lot to do with those changes. And a big, big majority of canadians are really, really nice and fair people. Thanks CANADA for treating us fairly and opening your doors to help us make better lives for ourselves, us filipinos and canadian citizens will help canada in any way to make this land the best, most peaceful, friendliest, educated, tolerant, and canadian law abiding country in the world.

      I came here in the late 60s. I remember applying as a clark and my interviewer said, I have no Canadian experience, so I said, "How the hell you got Canadian experience you are or were and immigrant too by the sound of your accent?" , and walk out without saying another word.

      Tony Noroña Jr. That was in the 60,s canada like the US was a less tolerant country then. even in the 70,s it was still a little racist, but in the 80,s because of the media becoming faster, a lot more biased people began to understand that their ignorance , fear and racist views is wrong. Im not saying that canada will be 100% racist free , there will always be racist weather your a filipino or a canadian. Even canada beeing a young country is still learning from its mistake i.e. the natives of canada became second class citizen of its own land, everything was taken from them their hopes, dreams, and families were split apart. The japanese were interned too during ww2 theres more, much more but canada is one of only a few countries that has apologised for their ignorance of the way it treated its own people. Not too many countries will even aknowledge that they have done anything wrong to their own people.

    I think in every country where there's a community of Filipinos, change comes in both parties. For example, we Filipinos in the Middle east experienced big changes in our lives. We are earning more and as a result, we are now able to provide the needs of our family. At the same time, we change the people in the middle East by teaching them the value of hard work, education and resilience.

    Historically Philippines is an archipelago of thousand of islands ruled by different groups thousand of years ago. It is in the culture to adapt ways and blend with each other. If you study Philippine Language it has more than 100 however we can still understand each other. In short Filipinos adapt fast to a culture than anyone in the world. We will survive even in an other planet. The culture itself from its values and morals and the very warm and welcoming nature of the people makes it one of a kind.

    Their hospitality is par excellence.
    I've been several times to Phillippines.
    They are an excellent people to interact.
    One word of caution when dealing with them: never rub on the wrong side as they are quite sensitive to personal insults.
    😡😡😡

    I am a Filipino living and working here in Canada for almost 7 years now. I love being in here, not because i can help my family financially back in the Philippines, but because the of “Canadian people” who always been so nice to me ever since i came here. I have adopted the culture and traditions of Canadian, it helps me alot to give respect to others and to be a better citizen of this country. 🇨🇦❤️🇵🇭
