What the owners Says about "is more safe" being smoking is completelly WRONG, the reality is the OPPOSITE, too much smoke denotes an excess of fuel, this extend the time in wich the full combustion has to be done, this has the consequence of rising the exhaust temperatures, this has the consequences of burning (broke) pistons and exhaust valves. If what the owner says would be right, the VW tdi Bora competing in motosport in the 2000 years has to be smoking like coal, right? WRONG, this racing car from VW don't smoked nothing (and these engines was the original engines mounted in the golf tdi 110 hp, electronic pump VP37...). Please, try to "lean" a little bit the ECU mapping on a dyno and you will see an increase of performance without the need to be a Train fueled by coal. Congratulations for the results and performances...

More fuel = higher temps. There has to be alot more fuel to gain some cooling. Other than that its the long durations they jse to gain the black some that melts the pistons.
your the one who understands nothing about diesels, safe map with excess fuel is an absolutely ridiculous statement with regards to a "diesel" if your talking about Petrol engine combustion and what he said is true the fuel as well as power is used for cooling, on a diesel excess fuel creates heat increasing exhaust gas temperatures, no need for loads of black smoke unless your running nitrous.

Love the PD130's. They drive really nice as stock, great on fuel and do good power on stock internals.
I prefer a set up for about 200 to 210bhp / 320lb with the hybrid GT1752. It's no where near as fast or as fun as this, but it's got minimum smoke, minimum lag and is a good compromise between reliability and power for a daily driver
Do you have an idea on how much hp/torque the stock internals are capable ?

Stock rods can hold that torque since they are forget from standar , the weakest point is passing 600ft lb on nitrous !

He’s running it maffless, maf has been mapped out... any decent tuner would map it with the maf and it’ll run less smoke. 🤷🏼♂️

pimpinritch A tune without a maf does have a better throttle response, but will use more fuel. But,if your tuner knows what he is doing you will have excellent throttle response, and the benefeit of better fuel economy. the MAF continually measure the amount of air entering the engine which means less smoke. Also more smoke means higher egt’s which is bad

Often the stock air box filter gives better performance than a cone filter less heat soak

Inter cooler is what cools it
Bigger air filter would help get more air in over the stock box that’s restrictive
