It’s sickening they intentionally destroy things that could be repurposed or donated to less fortunate people. This much unnecessary waste is inexcusable. Also, if a person is willing to dig through the trash, they deserve any valuable thing they find. Seeing this makes me not want to shop at these stores anymore.

It is shocking! I don't think they can do this in the UK. I used to volunteer at a charity shop and now stock they can't sell is donated to charity. Food that is not sold is also donated from supermarkets. It really is awful to see such things thrown away. A huge waste of resources.

But I’ve seen ppl reselling items for crazy price which isn’t really fair.

I just found your channel today! I'm totally binge watching all the episodes. A lot of this stuff seems like it'd be welcome at a homeless shelter, even with paint on it. Wash it up and someone has a blanket to keep them warm. The food stuff and toiletries would probably also be welcome there. Also, since the keys had a tag with a barcode on it, you should be able to return it to that store (the tag is from) or drop it in a mailbox, I believe they can get back to the owner that way. There's no panic like losing your keys, except for when you lose your kids in a store.
I would feel so shameful to work at a place with damages perfectly good items and throws them away. I just don't think I could. So many people could use the stuff... it's horrible.

They can get a larger tax break if something is damaged and trashed then if donated. It is all about greed. If all tags are removed and an item donated, no one can return it! So, that is an out right excuse! Its all about greed.
They don't want people reselling the merchandise. Which is usually what happens. It would make sense for them to just do it themselves on a website. They could do what Amazon does just buy a surprise box. At least they could make 💰

The stores aren’t likely to make the extra effort. Better to let any nearby shelters know what these stores are throwing away and let them contact the stores directly.
I had an idea since you liked the material of the jammies or the robe from Victoria's secret, if you're handy with the needle and thread you could take it home and make a cover for the dog bed.
Lucky that I found dumpsters in my area that recycle torn/stained clothes and shoes. They recycle the items to make new fabrics. Better than throwing in the trash.

In the UK you'll find like ex Zara stock in the British heart Foundation (a thrift store) it's disgusting how they destroy items that are probably made in sweat shops as well !

I’m from the U.K. and live above 2 charity/thrift shops. The amount of good stuff they throw away makes me sick. My son’s autistic and it upset him so much that we take usable things and donate on free sites. One of them has a locked dumpster and it makes me laugh that something that has already been given away, that then gets thrown away again is treated like the Crown Jewels. They’d rather lock up their trash than let people take stuff they can use and keep it from landfill. It’s twice trashed trash and they keep it like it’s treasure. They should be ashamed
Please remember to wear gloves and ensure your wrists are covered, certain things should not come in direct contact with the skin and you'd be surprised what could be in these bags. Most times you'll be fine but it takes one bad instance, one person leaving something where you wouldn't expect

The stores intentionally ruin things because our court system lets people sue for damages that may or may not been caused by said item. Also, some unscrupulous people would try to return for refund things they never purchased. It’s a sad situation.
What angers me about these stores is they'd rather add to our carbon footprint and fill landfills, than to give this stuff to thrift stores. I don't respect that, and I don't go out of my way to buy at these stores.
Its so weird to me that some of these stores throw away and find time to destroy clothes. I've worked in 2 diff retail clothing stores(at the mall) for 2 years and I can't recall when we were told to trash clothes. Whenever seasonal items get pulled from the floors, we store them in bins and they go on racks in the backroom unless told otherwise by Corp. Regardless we store them in bins and a truck picks them up and takes them away. 🤷♀️

I would take the cut up material and put it on facebook for free. There will always be someone looking for material scraps or there will be people wanting to make their own clothes.

The keys had A barcode tag on them You could call the number on it and tell them you found these keys and perhaps they could contact the owner for you???
I volunteer at a food bank, run by a local church, and they get items from World Vision once a month. Lots of the items are from Costco; but, when they give them away there's a stipulation the people getting the items agree not to try and return them (some people have actually tried and failed) or resell them. If they get caught reselling anything; then, they don't get any other items in the future. It's the rules! So, at least Costco donates their stuff to World Vision.
Honestly, just grab the slashed items for the fabric, if the pieces are clean, you might be able to sell them as bulk scrap fabric. Someone out there who sews might be interested.

In the beginning, I used to find some stuff, but never higher end like you do. & in my State, most "bigger" stores and Malls have the big huge enclosed dumpsters that u cannot access. & Yes, so many more places now are slashing that didnt before; probably from other divers that were not respectful

It’s because people return the things for store credit or money, and the store suffers a loss. It sucks, but the ones who have done that are to blame.

Great idea for environment friendly stores
The keys have a bonus card on them. Take them to the store on the bonus card and the store can hopefully contact the owner.

I stopped shopping at Victoria Secret in protest of the intentional tossing of good product and cutting or otherwise intentionally damaging products!
That is so evil to cut up good merchandise for victoria secret. I quit shopping there when they treated me and others like shit during covid.

I would’ve took the keys to whatever business was for those hang tags and maybe they could’ve given them to their owner from searching their database.
Victoria Secret should just get an industrial type shredder to destroy their products and send them directly to a recycle company.
