Awesome. I thought a multi-tool would be most practical after watching several other videos. You made it simple.

I've watched several videos on flush mount wood vent, and this is by far the most practical for me, which I will use. I have an oscillating tool which I will put to good use, if I have anywhere close to your steady hands. I will try to use a guide (like a template) to hold the tool steady. Thanks for posting this video.

Wıll there be an issue with by-passing the tongue and groove edge on the register? Will the wood dry out and form gaps after the finish is applied? Considering this solution...

Thanks for your video. You certainly have a steady hand to cut that straight line into hardwood with an oscillating tool. It can be easy for those things to get away from you. And I appreciate all the info about the tools that you used, but what about the vent itself? Is there a certain brand that you use/recommend?

It wasnt a hardwood, it was more of a plywood with a veneer on top. Look at .33 and you can see the layers in the flooring. Much easier to cut than something solid.

You're right, This is not solid hardwood, but this is engineering hardwood. I showed the process and how it is work and there is no difference if it solid wood or engineered wood.

Hello, does it need to be solid wood or can this be done on engineered hardwood that's 1/2" thick ?

I need to connect two duct boots, one in the floor for current vent and wanting to change placement as making a window bench. What if the best way to seal the gap between the two rectangular shapes prior to attaching metal collar etc.

It looks good, but it's not as efficient as the metal ones with the damper.

who cares? Looks great. Damper gets banged by vacuum cleaner and does nothing

Normally, a register has baffle control, when you switch to a flush mount, you lose the baffle control, to adjust the air flow.

vents with an air flow regulator are not always installed. in more than 15 years of working with floors, I can probably remember several times that there were vents with a regulator.
