I got these sent to me as well, also prefer the 16689. I have to say that they are extremely durable. Landed a couple of 10ft high jumps straight on the nose without any problems 👍🏼 However, a bit hard to control in the air
I use this truck, and a few others more than my Arrma Typhon. They are small enough to take anywhere, and are less lethal then the Arrma if I run it into something.

Enjoyed both of these trucks and ideal for people new to RC or just getting in to the hobby found them both to be great fun if I had to pick I would go 16889 for the slightly larger size. Great video guys. Looks like a nice little basher for good all round fun in the garden or local park., but as you say probably let down by the RC Controller. Then again, realistic expectations for the price point are what's needed. Keep up the good work :)
IMO, it's a little silly to talk crap about the controller when it's actually the same exact manufacturer of both trucks and they have the same controller. It's actually the speed controller in this case that's giving the lag of the accelerator and I wouldn't be surprised if they actually have the Brushless upgraded motor version of the 16889
It would have been worth reviewing with kids in mind. I just bought two of these for my kids and me to play with together. My son is 5 and remarkably good at RC stuff but he's still just 5 so to get him a LIPO powered full functioned near hobby-grade RC truck means considering his size and skills. Sure, for the price it's annoying that I can buy a bigger more powerful truck but I actually want him to just have enough power to drift and throw rooster trails without being so overpowered (like most hobby grade stuff) that pegging the throttle means launching into plaid and exploding through my neighbors shins.
Good honest review! My son has the HBX Rampage as his first RC and looks like the same truck only an earlier model. Did really well at the skate park. Have you got the Losi LMT "Grave Digger / Sunva digger) on the list for a future purchase? Looks like a beast.

It's not really our style, I find watching people live doing repairs and upgrades to be very boring tbh that's just for me anyway! I know some people love it! I will have to try figure out a way to make it more interesting 🤔

I have to old version of these. It had a low and high speed switch on the controller.
Currently I have one of these rc trucks and it’s cool. I had to return it because two wheels broke after a week of use

Hey the race truck was slow because the race truck has two modes slow and normal the race track was probably on slow mode that’s why it was slow

Sounds like a BEAST! Not sure how the diffs would hold up? I’ve seen the exb Kraton had issues on 8s with the stock diffs.
