love the walkie-talkie app when it actually works. 75% of the time someone doesnt get the conversation invite or is just unavailable even tho they are. or friend invites decide not to actually send or accept the other 25% of the time.

@@applesupportthis happens to every single person I know. So much so that no one uses it even though one year it was our most looked forward to feature. Typical 2023 Apple. Cool features, that work reliably on occasion. So disappointing.

Walkie-Talkie is an underrated feature. When you're someplace with friends or family, using this can be faster than sending an iMessage, however it has some issues too. It often takes me awhile to make a connection to the other person and fails to do so. Sometimes a reboot of the watch will fix things, other times another person must start the conversation with me for it to work. Hopefully Apple keeps working with it and make it even better.
why can't we just have this feature on our iPhones????

The point of having a Walkie-Talkie is because there is no cellphone signal .

This would be so much more useful if it took less than 50 seconds to "check availability" and didn't incorrectly say that people aren't available.
This used to be a cool feature. Then they made it so the other person would first need to acknowledge that you're trying to send a message (the "checking availability... @ 1:04), which defeats the purpose of walkie-talkie & so might as well send a text.
I wish this worked across all Apple devices. And yeah we had issues when it first came out and stopped using it…
Funny I just started using this app again , it’s very convenient when it works but frustrating with the disconnections issues and the fact that notifications are not loud / distinct enough. I hope Apple will continue developing and improving this app , besides this recent video it seems like they have forgotten they ever made it.

Wish I knew someone else with an Apple Watch so I could use this
I was just thinking the same thing, because I am still learning how to use it. It is a birthday present, and I love it so far, but the circle of friends that I have, don’t own a iPhone.
Mine doesn’t work at all. When I ask my contacts it doesn’t go through and vise versa. Do you have any suggestions?

So you can only use an Apple Watch to contact another Apple Watch, not like vhf or uhf frequencies, that like a ham radio would use?
Great idea, sadly it basically doesn’t function. I need to use apple hardware for work, and we wanted to implement this feature in our workflow. It would be SO convenient to basically have a push to talk phone at your wrist that also can take normal calls and show the next task/client. But it never worked, we had so much problems for weeks/months that we dropped it. For personal use i wouldn’t buy something from apple anymore, those times are long gone 😁 ( except the ipad pro. That thing just works. But I’ll see if i get another one when it’s time to replace this one here)
What apple should do is only show those contacts who use Apple Watch than all contacts when selecting which ones to invite…it’s not a smooth experience from onset! Poorly designed app…
It takes the same amount of work to just call someone on your phone.
Tried to add friend but nothing has appear on my friend’s watch about me requesting to add friend for Walkie Talkie. Called the Apple specialist but nothing much they can do. Tried restarting, on/off from the FaceTime setting, and more…

This feature has existed since the early 90s… if anyone’s seen Might Morphen Power Rangers they know what I’m talking about
It has been available since Dick Tracy in the 1930’s. Except in his case, it actually worked.

I always send at 6AM - yet 6AM never shows up as a send time as a new standard set time - 8AM and 9AM always show up as a standard choice - how to I add 6AM as an available time when I use send later? If 6AM is used repeatedly for any length of time - I'd expect to show up or replace the two already displayed standard send times.

I can see a future feature desire... IF this can be done over wifi (third product) without cell or has to have cell ... to have to free up a second hand means you can't talk like FaceTime or other hands free set up. Also, not having my first watch yet, is why I see what the unit does. If I have a cell iPhone or home Internet, can I call and talk through that without having to buy a second line of service from the carrier? ... I know you are busy and I won't hear back, .. no worries.. just sayin so the answers might come up sometime. pat
I called Apple and the wifi does connect to other wifi and not just to your phone’s wifi
It won’t work like a regular radio though. Hit and miss. Disappointed on the reliability.

walkie talkie never works on my Apple Watch no matter what I do

As long as your friend is wearing their Apple Watch and has Walkie-Talkie turned on, they should receive alerts when you want to talk. I just don’t get why gps version of apple watches don’t support this? Why can’t we use this while they are not on wifi or cellular version of apple watch? This is a really great and useful app.

It NEVER worked since the day1 on my Watch 7 cellular, I stopped trying.. 😑😑
The walkie talking app isn’t available in all countries or regions 😂 that’s probably why my watch simply doesn’t have this app
Or you can use regular phone calls.
This is great if you’re in a exam and u have a smart friend 😭. But it doesn’t always work sometimes I cant hear her

That app makes no sense...if you both have cellular why use walkie/ talkie, and if on wifi your both close enough to talk. And the app must be open first , right?
It makes a lot of sense if the person you're trying to contact has their phone on silent mode and doesn't hear the ring. It's more difficult to ignore the haptic sensation on your watch. That being said, I can't get the thing to work.
When you tap a friend, do they have to have an Apple Watch for it?

This makes no sense in today’s market. Most if not all have ultimate calling plans and the same with texting.

Bonjour, quand on me contact cela fonctionne immédiatement. Mais lorsque moi je contact je dois m’y prendre à 5 6 fois avant que ça fonctionne sinon ça m’indique que la personne n’est pas disponible. Cela m’arrive depuis 4 5 mois alors que au début il n’y avait aucun probleme. J’ai tout essayé supprimer le contact l’app rédemarrer apple watch et iphone vérifier facetime et même réinitialiser l’apple watch à neuf et rien n’y change. Que faire svp?

My friend does not have to touch and hold to talk on his watch. Why is that?
He made a phone call, or used FaceTime audio call.
I have an iWatch, and can make and receive phone calls on it, IF it is in range of my WiFi or my iPhone.
Also Walkie-Talkie mode. Which my sister loves when I’m helping her shop, because with the watch on her wrist, her iPhone can stay in her purse/pocket. Simple. No juggling. (She has limited hand/finger mobility)
@@ernestgalvan9037 No, I’m 100% sure he is using Walkie-Talkie on his watch. I have watched him activate a conversation with Walk-Talkie with another friend and he doesn’t need to touch and hold to talk even the yellow button says “Touch & hold to talk”. Seems like a bug on the 1 gen. watch.
