Were pretty lucky that Shawn is a graceful enough interviewer, and well respected enough to garner the trust, and respect of larger-than-life heroes like VanSant to share insanely cool stories like this. I mean, you couldnt write a movie script this good, nor does shit this cool even happen in movies, the fact Chris and the rest of Delta(and others) actually did things like this is just crazy. Im sure other countries have their own extremely exceptional men/operators, but I severely doubt any country had/has the level of warfighters like VanSant and his generation of tier 1 guys during the GWoT, they were truly a special group of men who not only were exceptional on their own, but when put together on a team/unit, were just brutally efficient at what they did to level that I dont think has ever been seen before.

I have another buddy who’s Delta, and he and Chris are the type of guys that are actually cool to be around, laid back, but when that switch is flipped, you see their talent go from 0-1000 in a heartbeat. I've watched a few of these, and what stands out the most to me is how they all look like average middle aged guys. Like someone you'd pass at the grocery store, and never give a second thought to. Yet they are these bad ass war operators.

Before I watched and listened to these type of podcasts I had a very distinct image of these SF guys. Interesting that a lot of them don’t really fit into it and seem pretty ‘normal’ (whatever that means).

Only bad leaders get pissed when they are not involved. They typically hesitatein the reaction when they are needed. Great leaders respond to the need and figure the details out after the smoke clears.

Sounds like the Air Force CCT is who they should be taking to.
But, they don't seek out attention.
