A lot of you don't know this but Mr. Ford volunteers to fly Lifeflight rescue missions for free. He helps by volunteering his time, skills, and craft to saving the lives of others! Bless you sir!
Barbarawoods62 he's hardly gonna bother to ask to get paid for it, is he?
How much he has in his bank account is irrelevant, he is a volunteer
Ya..New that. Clearer to say he flies helicopter. A useful skill...even without the money. What a messed up world we live in.
That's is a completely false claim. Harrison Ford has volunteered his services flying search and rescue in his Bell helicopter near his 800-acre ranch in Jackson Hole, but he has never been involved with air ambulance services. He's rescued a couple of hikers. That's great, but ease up on the superhero bullshit, wouldja?
At least with helicopters you are allowed to land on a taxiway.
I remember my mom took me here when i was 10 years old at the wings over the rockies museum on my birthday. Wanted to be a pilot ever since.. Now i’m 18 years old as a aircraft mechanic in the Airforce. I’ll fly one day!
Harrison Ford could read the newspaper and make it sound cool
A cereal box.
For real! Lol
Or the Terms of Agreement page.
he can only read. Talking off the cuff - he sounds illiterate.
..Furniture assembly instructions...anything really.
No one needs therapy or meditation, we just need to hear Harrison Ford saying in the most serene tone ever "Denver tower good morning : Beaver 1-5-3-tango ready runway 3-5 right" "alright sir, 1-5-3-tango on the roll, 3-5 right".
Favorite part of the video
Real pilots don't say "on the roll"
@@dragonage200 While not common, I have heard other pilots say that or something like for various reason... When I was a student pilot practicing soft field take offs my instructor and I specifically would ask for a rolling take off, no hold short nor on threshold (line up and wait / the old phrase: position and hold).
But what you're supposed to say is repeat your clearance.
Pilots though can say improper phraseology so long as the controller understands; and if they don't they can ask to clarify.
I don't find anything wrong with his "on the roll"... so long as he repeated his clearance too.
jmitterii2 that’s the american ga pilot style. If you fly outside the US, especially those countries that dont speak english as their first language, no one’s gonna know what “on the roll” “i got him on the fish finder” etc means
@@dragonage200 If you're making a rolling take off you might.
Best cinematography in any aviation video I have seen, hands down!
And beautifully narrated by Harrison Ford.
I love it - well done!
- Martin
It sure is beautiful, but have you seen the film Sky Fighters?
Check out backcountry pilot, some great quality videos there too!
I think you meant colour grading. Cinematography involes manipulation of light. Various bits of lighting equipment.
Agreed! makes me want to drive to the airport and go for a flight everytime i watch it! Your videos have the same effect as well Martin!
It's great cinematography and narration, rivals One Six Right's one for that matter.
After 44 years in the aviation industry, this makes me want to go back to work !
...you are a lucky guy man!!!! my respect to you !!!
@@claudioquintanilla1471 I was one of the lead engineers on the CL215 / 415 Waterbomber. Loved every minute of it.
@@michaelhcoleman8450 make a channel and tell us your stories sir... we will love to watch.
@@metekavruk_Alanya, designing structural repairs is very boring, satisfying to me, but boring to the public.
Keep on flying sir.
As a professional pilot, I have to give great credit to Mr Ford for his love and enthusiasm of flight. He is humble and kind, and fully respects the act of flying and those that allow it to happen. Thank you Mr Ford for all you have contributed.
He inspires me everyday that someday I can fulfill my dream of landing in a taxi-way.
@@joeylantis22 he takes a lot of heat for that…. True, but he owned his mistake humbly. None of the 1000s of pilots I’ve flown with were perfect either. If you are famous I guess there will always be somebody that wants to cut you down. But in this case his contributions to aviation need to be considered.
Isn't Harrison Ford just the most amazingly humble human being? Incredible respect! Great video!
As long as you have a few millions dollars it's easy to fly a Beaver.
My inspiration was my dad flying for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. I went with him on several occasions and loved it. I got my license and followed in his footsteps. The best day ever was the day I got to have him fly with me on a manhunt. I turned the plane over to him and asked him to show me how it’s done. He did. What a great day. Sure do miss him. I think of him every time I go wheels up. Thank you Harrison Ford.
Harrison is a wonderful fella. He is down to earth, kind and best of all, humble. He hasn't let his fame and success go to his head. The definition of what a man should be. God bless him!
I get my pilots license in one month and I’m so excited to be a part of the aviation community, it’s been my dream ever since I can remember!
Watch out for those wires....
I wonder how many controllers recognize his voice and when they give him clearance they say, "...and may the force be with you."
More like " and may you not land on the Taxiway again."
@@KizKim lmfao
Fortune and glory…
"I didn't know you could fly a plane"
"Fly - yes, land - no" 😂
This felt like a public service announcement for aviation. It was awesome!
The Blood Diamond music just gets ya right in the feels…we belong in the sky 😍🫡
Harrison Ford is happier and more enthusiastic here than he has ever been in any of his acting career
The guy took off from a taxiway.
Thats a magnificent Beaver
That's probably not only time, those words have been spoken!!
I expected to hear Harrison say "get off my plane"
That would have been counter productive...though it would also have been cool.

I shook Mr Fords hand upon his return home 1988 landing in a Learjet! Cheyenne Wyoming for me working at CYS and then in1988 moved to Jackson Hole Aviation for a season!! Yellowstone fires broke out! Kept me busy busy

Pappy Boyington passed away here where I live today in the lovely Lower San Joaquin Valley! Miss those Rockies! Perfect video! Jackson Hole wanted to boot Harrison Ford out of his Hanger recently!
GOD Bless Mr. Ford!
Dad was a Apollo Project engineer when I was growing up on the east coast of Florida. It was impossible to be surrounded by those guys and not dream of flying.

Makes me proud to be a pilot, aircraft owner and be in aviation as a family.
See there's the trick, an aircraft owner. Cos it's something else to work for one
In that case change your name to baris ford maybe? Your uncle made a great vid. Glad you and he are one.
the only thing that annoys me is how some act like anyone can become a pilot/aircraft owner.
No. unless you have a huge capita of wealth to throw aviation schooling, you're a hardstuck landrat
This was so beautiful. I use to watch aircraft land on approach by us in my apartment building to Logan, made a private pilot today :). Thanks Dad!!
3:03 - I absolutely love the highlight reel of all those beautiful flying machines!!! Incredible
This is the most inspirational flight video I have ever watched !!
Harrison Ford is and was my childhood hero.
Solo, in Star Wars was the first movie character that introduced me to the idea of flight "even if it was space sci-fi".
From that day forward I knew I wanted to be a pilot..
Thanks Harrison,
WOW, absolutely incredible, and with Harrison Ford both flying and narrating, it couldn't have been anything less! Yes, I too, grew up having dreams of flying. In the beginning, I would start flapping my arms as hard as I could and just be able to lift my feet off the ground just a few inches. Little by little, dream by dream, my frantic arm flapping took me higher and higher, but only a few feet. But then one dream, I got up high enough to meet the dreaded telephone lines, but I couldn't get beyond them. As my dreams progressed, I needed only to flap my arms a few times and I would start gracefully soaring up into the sky,and soon past those dreaded telephone lines. I would go higher and higher into the sky; higher than the tallest skyscrapers and through the clouds, up into the highest parts of the Atmosphere. When I got as high as I wanted in a dream, I would point my body back towards Earth, and just like Superman, which is most likely why I flew just like him ( LOL ), I would rocket back down to earth. But my dreams didn't end there. I would launch myself into the air, just like Superman, I would leave our atmosphere , head into space and keep going, willing myself to go higher and higher, farther & farther. I would leave our own galaxy behind and keep willing myself to go on & on, to the point to where there were no more galaxies. I would find myself at the very edge of the Universe; a dark and quiet place indeed. I always had a strange feeling whenever I had those particular dreams. Then, I would turn myself around and head back. Thankfully, I never got lost..LOL..!! I am 67 now and haven't had those dreams in many years, but I still have fond memories of them. Sadly, I never became a pilot, but I did spend 4 years in the Navy in an aviation squadron and got to work with some awesome planes and those few, short years are the highlight of my young adult Life. I have wished so many times over the years that I would have stayed in the Navy, or possibly even gotten into the Air Force ( as enlisted ), but I was young and all of my best friends were getting out, and I never tried to discuss my future with any of the officers or anyone else in the squadron, and so I got out.
I have those dreams, at least once every five years. At 4 yrs old I decided I wanted to be a pilot, and I was one, until I became a mother, then my kids took priority over my lifetime dream. I hope I can go back to flying in my old years, after my youngest one gets into college. I feel nostalgic in the early mornings when I am walking my dogs under a beautiful clear sky. I take my soul up there, and imagine the world from 1,000 ft, from 5,000 ft, from 20,000 ft. Thank you so much for this beautiful video 💕, it makes me feel ALIVE!
Solo was my childhood hero. He's right, I had these dreams of flight too. I don't have the money to buy a plane so I bought a DJI Mavic Air drone. Now I can see what the eagles see. I'm hooked and maybe one day I will fly my own plane. Thanks Mr. Ford, You are and always will be an inspiration.
Ladies and Gentlemen this is how you make a promotional video...
Can't agree with you more!

CHRISTIAN Bourne you can’t help but smile. I’m simply awestruck.
I appreciate Harrison Ford being part of this video to inspire future aviators. Actually got to work and fly with Harrison Ford's helicopter instructors, He is good people.
I love Mr. Ford. He is a person who truly cares about General Aviation. He is a down to earth person living a aviation dream just like me! Thank you Mr. Ford.
Harrison, you don’t just act, you live it, and that’s what makes you more believable than most other actors. You set your goals, follow your dreams and make them come true; and in that alone motivates others to do the same. Then when you talk about what you’ve done and where you want to go, you light a fire under the rest of us to follow our dreams. Keep on flying, Harrison! We’ll fly with you!
Man this guy can land anywhere! In the bush, on the farm, on the taxiway......
Connor Brown hah
Every pilot eventually lands. Being in a Beaver means you've got a better chance of walking away from it. lol
I was wondering how much I had to scroll to see a taxiway comment. It wasn't too long!!
@@LeantoPeak top comment for me
LOL on the taxiway, and called the tower asking why the commercial aircraft was below him.
Idolo Mr Harrison Ford!!! Thank you for inspiring young people to chase their dreams...i hope one day visit that magic museum. Greetings from Argentina
What is being said is striking to a bone ... the marvels one feels and sees up in the air ... This is so beautifully done! BRAVO!
Wished I could have more flying dreams. It's been so long. Sadly I was never able to advance my dreams / hopes to fly. I have flown in the past. But only as a passenger. So I settle for watching wonderful videos like these.
Watched the video over 100 times, its poetry!
beautiful !!!!! I've been a pilot for 50 years, because of health problem ive given it up. What a bummer. I enjoyed many sites from the air as Mr. Ford has. What a blessing.
To some, the sky is the limit. To those of us that love aviation, the sky is HOME.
Jollyroger Hobbies yes indeed!
Look up there is the dream
Yaaaasssss
Thank you Mr. Ford, I never get tired of your distinctive voice of wisdom. Cheers, Billy in Canada
"You can find a place in aviation if you look." So true. A job in aviation is just not flying. I love aviation and I loved being a firefighter, so I became an Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF). That was my "place in aviation" for many years.
I had flying dreams as a child, hovering a couple feet off the street where i lived, in a reclined position, as i traveled down the street. Once a dream took me above the Earth, it was so beautiful. It might have been an out of body experience. Great video, Sir.
2:50 When the plane looks to be descending to fly under the bridge my brain was like "No way he is goin......wait, It's Harrison Ford! Hell ya he is!" Awwwww.
Heh.. Glad I'm not the only one...
What a video as a pilot who hasn’t flown for two years now this gave me goose bumps again I hope to return to it one day and videos like this keep my dream alive and Harrison ford what a great guy
I give Mr. Ford the highest regards for his help in bringing the young into aviation. Thank you, fellow pilot.
The most beautiful vídeo that i saw in my life.
Pretty awesome! I had no clue Harrison Ford is a Pilot! He should be awarded for his Humanitarian actions.
@Angie Lawson Of course!
It's really happy to see a DA42 in this video, because I am the one currently working on DA42 production line.
Inspirational... Beyond words. Thank you Mr Ford!
I'm glad I earned my pilots license many years back. So very glad!
I had flying dreams from a very young age...fast forward 36 years later and today I'm blessed to be able to fly. Very good touching video. Thank you Mr. Ford.
What a well done inspirational video. Absolutely awesome.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that he took off from the Denver airport. I worked on the Continental concourse the entire winter of 1993 and like to froze to death!! It was -10° in the morning and got to 9° for a high for the longest time. Beautiful video Harrison!! Many more years of happy flying!!
Rather cool video, beautiful planes and oh! that bush landing, safer than any taxiway. LOL.
I'm so thankful that I can fly! Some of my friends and family dont understand why I would risk my life doing it. But in reality I fly safe and aviation has saved my life. A life of boredom and just existing.
Flying is safer than driving your car.
“You can find a place in aviation too, my place is on Taxiway Charlie.”
I was just on rwy charlie this evening or I mean twy charlie departed John Wayne SB to San Diego beautiful full moon tonight.
If only Bob Ross could do a cooperative commentary with Harrison... Talk about mellowing out.
Why is he flying out of DIA? Theres plenty of smaller GA airports around where he can touch down on taxiways
For those you didn’t get it: Harrison Ford landed on a taxiway and didn’t even notice. But for anyone who has seen the last Indiana Jones n°4, we know he’s senile and they couldn’t even keep him online long enough to film him, so I dread to imagine how much he understands when piloting a plane.
Taxiing across an active runway, Harrison Ford does it again.
Very well done Mr Ford, Yes I had flying dreams as a child, resulted in me becoming a Pilot, Flight Instructor and airplane owner with lots of very good memories.
Nice video! Thanks for putting this together WOtR & Harrison!
Yes! Yes! Yes! I had that dream! I thought I was the only one. I would float out of my bed and thru the window and fly over my parents house and the power lines
and the road that ran in front of the house and I could see the familiar farm fields around my house. Thank you Mr Harrison for bringing that dream back!
Great Video! Harrison is a true Aviator and is sharing the passion with others. In reference to the Taxiway Charlie Incident , that is a Mistake easy to make in that Airport and Human factors come into the equation as well as frequency changes etc. Go easy on the man guys! Are you perfect?
Not the first to make an approach on a taxiway, but might be the first to approach a taxiway at the wrong damn airport.
I just wish he'd take that damn earring out. Looks stupid.

Still stuck in the Disney Wars-Shitshow. I'm glad at least one of the two made it out early.
This was a great video! I love Harrison's DHC2 Beaver. It is one of my favorite airplanes along with the Corsair F4U, and the Westland Lysander. Although I can't afford to fly, my passion is RC flying. Every time I hear the roar of an airplane or a helicopter I always look up to the skies to see where its it's at.
I call the Rockies my home. Born and raised in western Colorado, and I currently live in Vernal Utah. I have traveled from coast to coast, border to border, but the mountains will always be my home.
My first job i got in aviation was in jackson wy where he actually keeps his beaver its to see because ive worked on that plane and have been in his sovern and also locked his keys in his subarban my first month on the job lol
This was a great inspirational video. Harrison, thank you. I had the honor to have an article I wrote about flying a plane in England appear in DownWind flying magazine a number of years ago. It just so happens that you (Harrison Ford) were on the cover of the magazine for that issue with a feature article about Flight. Dec/Jan 2010. This video for Wings over the Rockies so conveyed my feelings about flying I almost broke into tears watching it. I think Harrison Ford's greatest legacy (in addition to being a great actor) will be his ability to communicate his feelings; Our feelings - about how very deep in mankind's soul comes the love of flight. Thank you. David Rosenthal
Damn that shot of Denver international with HF in the foreground was stunning
Well stated, inspirational and uplifting to the skies and beyond.
Growing up at the Air Force Academy, raising my family in Colorado Springs, please help support Wings Over The Rockies, continue the uplifting inspiration for generations to come to galaxies far beyond.
My old flight instructor asked us one day, "What makes an airplane fly?"
Many answered lift, or the airfoil, or airspeed, or a combination of the three.
"No," my old flight instructor, said rather bemused. "Money is what makes an airplane fly!"
Well he isn't wrong.
Yeah lol
Like Richard Burton and Morgan Freeman, Harrison Fords voice is a world unto itself. What an (inter) stellar video.
This is one inspirational video ! Can we please subtitle it ?
Great video and love it. I work as a mechanic for major US airline. Have always enjoyed airplanes.
If I could chose between Jeff Bezos Gulfstream and Mr. Ford's Beaver I would chose the Beaver. In the Army we had 5 Otters (kind of a stretched Beaver if you will) I got to know them intimately during their restoration and test flights.
Agreed. When i saw that he was going to fly a Beaver for the video i was like, "OH! Of course. Of course he going to be flying a Beaver. Only the coolest, safest, best looking bush plane ever."
I've got to get back to that museum. A while back I moved a wing jig for a corsair for wings over the rockies. It was fairly new then. My brother was in the airforce when Lowery was still running. He was there for a short time. The museum is in one of the hangers left from the base. It's all housing and stuff now.

Whoever dislikes this video does not know what life is.
This presentation is what the Academy awards was for. Stunning, Great job!
Around the 2 minute mark he asks a question, the answer is lots of money sir. Lots.
It's all relative, but to get your PPL is only about $5-8k. I'm about a quarter of the way through mine, but it took some significant lifestyle changes and a lot of planning. Sure, it would be a lot easier if you're richer, but it's not impossible if you're not.
People spend more money on buying fancy iphones, netflix subscriptions, buying new cars every 5 years, fancy restaurants, resort vacations etc.. which will add up to a lot more than what it takes to fly. Harrison Ford can do all that and still fly, but for most of us it is a matter of prioritizing.
Far from it, In Australia it is possible to be up and flying solo for less than $2000, In the US, for even less than that you can build and fly your own microlite without need of anything more than a drivers lisence.
Where the will is strong the way falls beneath you.
I started flying a year ago, at the age of 63. I may not have started young (money & time were contraints), but I started. Like the other replies, if you want it bad enough, you will find a way.
Andrew Sarangan yes, if you substitute all of that for just flying a small, old aircraft, you can fly. Flying is HORRENDOUSLY expensive and always has been. No regular working man can afford new aircraft and their maintenance - not even close. Super expensive.
Aviation is in our blood, it's part of us and part of our lives. It is the best job in the world.
