dreamcatcher has been referred to as the 'dark' gfriend but now gfriend is turning much darker :o
but really the comparison is due to both having some of the most complex choreo among girl groups and their use of orchestral instruments.

g-friend are actually more known for their cute, sweet concepts so I would say that this is one of the few times they went more on the "dark' side of their music

You know It's a bit funny how you immediately referred to Gfriend as one of the groups on the mature side, because yes, their concept is very dark and sensual this time around, but for many years they were known generally as a cute group, their main concept being "powerful innocence". If you watch Me Gustas Tu or Love Whisper or Sunny Summer you will definitely get what I mean hehe
I personally LOVE cute girly concepts, sometimes they're mistaken as "weak" or boring but I think people are too used to bad girls saying "fvck you" and forget that being vulnerable, feminine and delicate is okay and it doesn't mean you can't be strong! Gfriend keep reminding me of that, that's one of the reasons why I love their songs so much.
I hope you'll give them another chance and reach to more of their songs!!
Exactly. I was happy to see GFRIEND explore their darker side because I like it when artists try new things. But as long as the end result is unique and high quality, I love and respect cute concepts just as much. So I like most of GFRIEND's old music as well.
Something that many people also seem to forget is that cute concepts can also be mature and sophisticated, as groups like TWICE have shown.

Gfriend's earlier stuff is lighter and very much in the anime opening lane - if you like that check out Navillera, for a tropical summer bop - Fever, feeling like you're the protagonist of a sad movie - maybe Rough or Sunrise

hello, thanks for reacting to gfriend. actually this comeback is like their dark person, bc they are known for their "powerful innocent concept", that means innocent look but powerful choreography (they are known for that). but since 2018 they changed their concept to "passionate melancholy", like their lyrics always abt sadness but still with sharp choreography. if you want to react or know abt them more, i highly suggest you to watch their MV chronologically so u can get the point of their storylines that already started from their debut MV.

1. Glass Bead (2015. debut song. powerful innocent. part of School Trilogy)
2. Me Gustas Tu (2015. still powerful innocent but they gave summery vibes on it. part of School Trilogy)
3. Rough (2016. powerful innocent but has a bit melancholy vibes on it. the final of School Triology, like their graduation from high school)
4. Navillera (2016. powerful innocent that has summery vibes, but it's more mature than me gustas tu)
5. Fingertip (2017. they went funky in this era, like funky disco song you would listen to when you go to a 90s club. buddies, or gfriend fandom, referred this song concept as Power Chic. part of Parallel Trilogy)
6. Love Whisper (2017. they back to powerful innocent with summery vibes. part of Parallel Trilogy)

anyway, i also recommend u to watch their dance video or their live performance. bc they are known for their powerful vocal with hard choreography. they rarely have rap lines on their title track, bc it doesnt really suit to their concept. but they do rap on some b-sides track. and if u want to get their storyline more, i recommend u to watch A Tale of the Glass Bead. it's like a short movie of them. currently they have 2 A Tale of Glass Bead video.
and about the thing they are similar to Dreamcatcher, i agree with you. Dreamcatcher is like the dark version of Gfriend, and Gfriend is like the bright version of Dreamcatcher. but i do realise that it's quite disrespectful to call them like that bc it's somehow discredit their hardwork. but both of them are really talented!

If you're looking to explore more groups I highly recommend A pretty underrated group called VIXX
For VIXX I recommend Error, G.R.8.U, Voodoo Doll, Scentist and Fantasy. All of them have amazing editing and the choreo is so great! Make sure you react to the 19+ version of Voodoo Doll though for the best experience.
Also wanted to add that they were labeled as "The Kings of Concepts" by a media outlet and I find it to be extremely true as they incorporate their concept for the song into every aspect of it including the choreography, outfits, lyrics, set designs for live stages, and any props they may use!
