    Like your playing. Was playing along. Was playing with various notes. Sometimes matching notes. Glad to come across your playing. I'll probably try on piano. The best.

    Aside from the beautiful counterpoint of your compositions, I find the sound of the strings without being plucked with a pick giving a warmer sound. A sound that is perfect for these standards.

    Richie, these are wonderful arrangements. A couple I've bought from you in the past and have woven some of your voicings and reharmonizations into my arrangements. Thanks so much for your contributions to chord melody. It is such a rewarding way to play jazz guitar.

    Richie - All 12 solos are really pretty. Satin Doll, Summertime, and Green Dolphin Street were my favorites. Love the walking bass in your arrangements.

      Thanks for your feedback Ron! Those 3 tunes seem to be among the favorites which is helpful to know. I'm a sucker for ballads but I will have to arrange more tunes with walking bass lines...

    Great arrangements! Stompin at the Savoy had the best feel, Green Dolphin had an amazing intro, Summertime had fantastic movement, but my favorite by far was Alone Together, you took it to another level.

    • @RichieZellon
      @RichieZellon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your feedback Bill! Green Dolphin seems to be among the favorites with most but I'm glad that you like Body and Soul which regardless of my arrangement, is seldom played or appreciated by many guitarists. It is a must know among sax players. The art of the ballad!

  • @alainbergmans6999
    @alainbergmans6999 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    All of these tunes are nice. I particularly enjoyed Satin Doll, Summertime and Georgia. In general, I think a bit more syncopation and interspersed solo lines would be interesting … but that’s personal preferences. They’re all great chord melodies.

    • @RichieZellon
      @RichieZellon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Alain! I know what you mean by the syncopation and interspersed lines . I normally don't play these tunes this way. I usually improvise around them with more of those elements. These performances have no improvisation and are played almost exactly as written on the PDF so people can follow them and learn them...

    • @alainbergmans6999
      @alainbergmans6999 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RichieZellon I understand, it’s a fine way of helping jazz guitarists learn to play these standards. Improvisation will come later. Thank you for all the great instructional material you post on You Tube, I appreciate it !

    Hi, I think I like ”Misty” best .Wonder how all theese great arrangements would sound like on a classical guitar?

    • @RichieZellon
      @RichieZellon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Misty is among my personal favorites because of all the counterpoint and inner moving lines, but you're the only one to mention it so far. :(
      I play a lot of these on classical guitar and they sound great because I use a lot of open strings and classical guitar techniques to begin with.

  • @billmiller9763

    The way summer time was played , it sounded like wayfaring stranger . But yes it was summer time.

  • @sclogse1
    @sclogse1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I find I like sections of different renditions best. Sections of Green Dolphin, Satin Doll....the colors in Blue and Green...the pacing in Body and Soul...sometimes I didn't want to hear the finger style mini arpeggio openings of the chords, and wanted a heavier lower E string. Maybe I just wanted a less bright guitar sound....

    • @RichieZellon
      @RichieZellon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your feedback! Note that TH-cam compresses all the audio and especially emphasizes the high frequencies. It also depends on what speakers you listen to them. It sounds very bright on cell phones and some laptops. Other than that, the arrangements are based on my personal taste which naturally is going to appeal to some and not to others. :)

    Hi, I have a question with respect to your Bebop Guitar Improv Series. Is it written in tabulature form? And are there any prerequisite requires for the series. I' msorry is this is inappropriate/unrelated to your great vid but I can't find the answers on the BGIS webpage. Cheers

    • @RichieZellon
      @RichieZellon  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You probably didn't click on "tell me more". Anyhow, it does include TAB and you should be able to find all sorts of detailed info here: bebopguitar.richiezellon.com/about-volume-1 Be sure to watch the videos! If you still have questions, send me an email: bebopguitar@richiezellon.com

    What do you think of Guiliani 120 arpeggios studies? Useful?

    • @RichieZellon
      @RichieZellon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't trust the former NY mayor and attorney to teach me arpeggios...🤣🤣🤣 Seriously though, these studies are for classical guitar and don't utilize the scales and fingerings needed for jazz. Most of it is triadic from what I've been told.

    • @Sevenxsnroses
      @Sevenxsnroses 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes he is right. I’m classical player and they were great for me. But no help for jazz guitar fingerings
