    It amazes me how fiercely humble Neil was. I think that's something we all can look up to.

    I heard about the death of Neil Armstrong last year, and I knew it was a shame to have lost him, but the magnitude didn't hit me then like it did when I watched this video. It actually made me feel bad that I never appreciated him as much as I felt I did when I saw this, but it also made me smile a bit to know that he stood for something bigger than just himself or bigger than the fact that he walked on the moon. He stood for a magnificent accomplishment humans made with his help. I have to admit that it also made me crack a little smile when Hank said he was a nerd...

    "It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the earth. I put up my thumb and shut my eye, and my thumb blotted out the earth.
    I didn't feel like a giant.
    I felt very, very small."
    - Neil Armstrong

    As a student at Purdue studying aerospace engineering, I'll, of course, be reminded of his great accomplishments every day. The Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering will basically be my home for the next few years, and it's an honor to have classes in a building named after such an amazing man.

  • @youmaycallmeken

    Neil said this as he set foot on the moon. "That's one small step for a man; one giant leap for mankind." For whatever reason, the "a" didn't make it through the radio transmission. So Neil's sentiments match the message of this video. 🌒

    Your video was on the mark. I had the opportunity to spend a day with him when he came to speak on Memorial Day in Gettysburg a number of years ago. Neil was the most amazing man that I had ever met. I count meeting him as one of the greatest things in my life. The Nation weeps today but can rejoice in what this brave American accomplished in his life.

    Goodbye Commander Armstrong. Even when you were making history you could never imagine how you would inspire today's genius thinkers. You were a true pioneer to exceed the achievements of the most celebrated fathers in history. An inspiration, modest, charming, extraordinary. Safe journey... You've been to heaven once - one last mission Commander x

  • @canine224
    @canine224 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hank did an outstanding job making a tribute to Neil Armstrong, better than anyone else so far. Neil Armstrong was not man that affected one nation or one generation, he affected the whole world and it was a better place for it. It taught children to dream, that anything was possible, and in a day and age where our future need icons to remind us that we can reach for the star we have lost a symbol of how much the human race can accomplish.

    There's a lot of comments on this video that make me really sad, but this is an extremely special tribute video about a man that if he meant something to you or not, was an icon of hope and accomplishment for America during the time. He inspired people to learn and grow and to have hope again and is still inspiring others to do exactly what he did. Let's do what we can to be civil on this video please, RIP Neil Armstrong, you are very greatly missed

Just from the fact that he went on to teach and not profit from this event shows how humble a person he was. For that i say again Rest In Peace neil armstrong.

    Neil Armstrong with one step pointed the way to Humanity's colonization of the Universe. No matter the time it will take. He dared to show the impossible could became reality. And that Dreams weren't for just silly daydreamers. But the very substance and fiber of every great achiever.
