  • "As seen on History Channel comes a new ""living history"" series that follows 4 men and 1 woman who retrace the historic route taken during the 1897 Klondike Gold Rush. Their amazing 10-week journey takes them along the infamous Chilkoot Trail, and to the gold fields near Dawson City. Our modern-day prospectors complete this journey with only the clothes, tools and resources of the era and carrying 3000 lbs. of provisions, giving them a true sense of the challenges faced in 1897.

    Cool.
My great grandfather was one of those in 1897.
His letters of his experience are very interesting.

Just found this series and love it already, but why oh why was the cook lady not out hunting and gathering during the time she was left alone at the camp ? It doesn't make sense not to when you only have basic ingredients that you need to ration with you.

Thank you for this video. I had a great time and learned. I appreciate it.
I also wanted to see what the time period was like when my grandfather was born in 1898.

Doing this would be glorious. Oh to walk away from it all with dreams of gold to forge a future made of nothing but luck and skill. A true test of one's metal.

Late 19th century gold fever technology: Hitch a boat ride the put everything in a big sack and start walking.

Did they carry guns? I would tell the men to go hunt deer, rabbit and squirrel lol
The trackers may know which plants & fruits are safe to eat and good places to hunt, etc. Actually, they all can do this. Look out for animals to hunt. Lol

Once again, Producer Jaimie Brown tries to cash in on the success of Pioneer Quest by taking a bunch of clueless, spoiled, twentieth-century people and throwing them back in time. Again, he makes sure they are ill prepared, have bad clothing, footwear, tools, and food (and little of it) so he can laugh all the way to the bank at the fools who did it and those of us who watch it. I keep hoping our ancestors will be portrayed with respect and dignity. It AIN'T happening here. AND this channel has KILLED it with commercials. Wow. Selling Canadian history for a quick buck and making it look boring at the same time. Move on people. Spare yourself the frustration and anger. You'll enjoy yourself more by getting a sharp stick and poking at your eyes. Repeatedly! LL🇨🇦👎🏻💣

Well, I think you are missing the point here. The people who made the original trek in 1897 were also ill-prepared, inexperienced, had the "wrong" garments, footwear, lack of knowledge how to survive...one thing they did have was Gold Fever. This documentary is trying to authentically replicate what these earlier gold seekers went through. Sure they could have made the trip with a guide, and up to date gear, but what would be the point? I quite enjoyed this look at what was a phenomenal piece of Canada's history.

@@ladbeethoven9 the first 10 mins were spent telling the audience about how miserable everybody was about participating in the series. The only reason to do that is to appeal to people that it’s a reality series & it promises that the people weren’t happy, I think that was what the previous comment was about.
