The alarm has a key pad that needs to be used by a key pin when leaving and coming home or sometimes set when going to bed.

The thing that drives me crazy is WHY DOESN'T RORY CLOSE THE DOOR BEHIND HER?! If an alarm's going off, it usually can disarm quicker if the DOOR is CLOSED (at least in my experience).:P:P:P

Classic Gilmore Girls before it got all crappy! But if we're talking about things about this part that don't make sense...how could Lorelai track the motion sensors without setting it off?
She probably walked a really weird way slowly through the house. (Stairs are in a curvy trail) She also probably could tell that the sensor "dipped low" at the stairs because of past experience.
How else would you track down a motion detector. Follow it it's not that serious. Relax enjoy the show. If you don't like Gilmore Girls qjit watching the show simple as that.

Ok, i know this is a show but what kind of an alarm stops without punching in the security code?
Lourenço Nogueira Every one?! I had two alarm systems working like that plus the company called the house phone and requested a password..
Well must depend on the alarm system, in my country when the alarm goes off you have to punch in the code and you will get a call from the company asking you for the password.
There is no alarm that does it
