High tea was traditionally for the lower class - served on high tables where people would stand while they ate. Also, high tea is usually around evening meal.

Just FYI , High Tea is a dinner in the evening with a meat, potatoes and a vegetable. What you in the US call dinner. So, do not invite ladies to a High Tea , they will expect a full meal.
