It would've been nice if you had commented on the 'snow mode' setting seeing that you were ankle-deep in snow. I'm not sure if the tester had winter tires but hopefully the mode proves itself practical.
If you're looking at camping ability - Hyundai offers a tent for the Venue that attaches around the rear hatch. Could be a great addition if you like to travel and stop at campgrounds on your way from place to place. I'd love to see a review on the Essential manual transmission version! (Some of us still prefer to drive a stick ... even if they're increasingly hard to find.)
I had one of these this week as a rental car. It was great for getting around in a city I wasn't that familiar with. Good maneuverability. Great visibility!
Great review of the Venue Max. Sadly another car not available in the UK. It would be perfect for our narrower roads and for towns & cities. Merry Christmas to you Max and all at TheDriveGuide :-)
I did not really like the style of the car at first glance. I never really liked the Hyundai Styles. But then the style of the Venue started to grow on me, and now I think it looks cool! So I got the Galactic Grey Venue ( Slightly darker grey than this one in video, but same rims )Plus I got it with window tint. Pretty cool car so far and I can't wait to test it in the snow.
@@JustChillingNahhhhMean My Hyundai Venue moves great in the snow. I only drove it with around 5 inches of snow. Made it up my driveway with about 3 inches of compacted snow because I share with my neighbors, and my driveway has a 35-Degree slope. I only have the stock tires it came with. It may slide a little depending on how slick it is on the roads, but the car tries to correct itself. Also going down driveway is nice since the car has anti lock brakes. My car is also pretty decent in mud.
@@MetalMan2k Thank you very much for the info, our main car is the Subaru Outback, it's great in snow, mud and I wasn't expecting Venue to be the same. If it is decent, I assume slightly better with the best winter tires, it will do just fine for the daily usage as you described. Will buy as second car for wife. Thanks again for your reply and have a nice day!
@@JustChillingNahhhhMean That's the only thing I don't like about the Venue. Feels like I am driving a woman's car. I prefer a heavy-duty 4x4 truck but oh well it's all I could afford right now. The truck I used to own was a Dodge Dakota Rwd V6. With good tires the Dodge was still horrible in the snow and mud, and I was always sliding all over in the snow, and getting stuck in the mud, even with weight in the back. Loved my Dodge in the summer . But this little Venue is really what I need for winter, for the price. Your welcome glad I could help. Honestly, I used to be afraid to drive in the snow in my old Dodge. Now I welcome the snow. As long as it's not 1+ feet deep.
I love the fact that you got in there and laid down I’m only 53 so I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be perfect for me thank you for the review I’m getting the 2022 in scarlet red I’ve ordered it I’m excited
I just got myself a Venue Ultimate last week in the Acid Yellow with colour contrasts on the interior. Loving it so far. Has plenty of greenish cues from different angles & lighting Judging by the licence plate, I noticed that you're an Alberta guy, cool!!! Cheers from Red Deer. Keep up the good reviews
@@megumigrace5891 it doing good so far. With just the stock all season tires and Snow Mode, haven't had much difficulty. Doesn't drive like your typical FWD with the Snow Mode on. It partially makes up for the lack of AWD
Great review but what about the performance in snow? Didn’t it have a snow setting on the car you could set? I was wondering if you checked that out and if it helped at all? Thanks 😊!
It's not bad looking from certain angles. And it looks particularly good when it's on it's own, not near other cars. Once it's seen in traffic it appears puny.
I own a 2020 Venue SEL and at first I wasn't going to get a venue due to low power, Torque and its ugly. But man for the price you cant beat what you get. I test drove a Ford ecosport, Nissan kick, and a Kona. All were just over $20,000 but I managed to get my Venue (it drives better than the Nissan and Ford) for $17,000
@@mkmcdowell4648 yeah here in Idaho we had some good snow this winter and with street tires never had an issue thanks to "snow mode" it does its job well. I'd rather have a Kona tho
@@austinyoungflesh8791 Thank you for your reply although I had already bought a Subaru Crosstrek. I paid a heck of a lot more for it, but I'm confident it will get me through the snow. I happen to think the Venue is cuter though. Lol!
There is a snow mode but the car was fitted with all-seasons. It drove very well but I’d like to try one with winter tires plus snow mode to give my definitive opinion
Good review. I'm a Subaru fan and owned 2 already. How did the snow mode perform? Are you planning on reviewing the 2021 model? I'm looking at buying something like this for gas savings.
Glad to see hyuandi did not tint the rear/side windows. That has got to stop industry wide. All it does is restrict vision in grey weather, esp in the north in winter.
116 lb-ft ? Sorry, but that’s an instant dismissal for me. I do like the size and overall design. Wonder if there is a market for this with a 2 litre turbo?
I don’t believe they’ve ever offered the current-gen Accent (or Kia Rio) with the 2L. Unless the Venue is outrageously successful, I don’t see another engine choice coming along in the future
Hello! are the remote starter is already available forVENUE? i bought last month a hyundai venue, it was essential, its not keyless entry, until NOW they said they are waiting for the parts for the remote starter, im living in extreme cold city, winnipeg!
The car had all season tyres during my testing, managed just fine. I expect all owners to use proper winter tyres during these conditions. During my time, despite the conditions, there were no low speed control issues.
I live in Northern Ontario and our Winters can be Harsh. Can anyone comment on the Heat on such a small engine? They never seem to touch on either Heat or Air Conditioning
Reviews of a new car are of very limited usefulness. I can't imagine how many actual flaws you can find over just a couple drives. Try driving a Venue for 20k miles and see if the transmission fails like mine did. Features != quality
Shame that Toyota won't bring their diminutive Yaris Cross to the USA & Canada. I'm tempted to buy this instead just to help support the dying/dead subcompact market here. Not a fan of the unimaginative, generic lower rear bumper light design/integration or goofy-looking surround-reflectors on them.
Let us cut to the chase. First I bought it for price, second recalls only one I know of , cheap on gas easy to manover. Now I do not find the car parts make a lot of noise. I do hear wind noise. Second not the most comfortable car, my back gets tired. Difficult to get in and out of if you are tall the door post makes it really hard for tall person. There needs to go be handle on door post that you can grab to help you out. The seat belts the buckle by middle console is to short should be maybe 4" longer hard to. Buckle up with winter clothes .. Back up camera should be higher it is dirty all the time. Back up lights should be higher snow and mud covers them all the time. A tall person would have head hight in back seat but no leg room if tall person in front. I would like to see this guy deep in back for a few nights. HA HA HA
I just bought one this week ! I’m loving it

Agree...Snow mode is like 1/2 an AWD system and in snow country it would be a big selling point. Should be covered in any Canadian review
Coming from a 2001 Subaru forester this car handles the snow pretty good. I run winter tires though.
So refreshing that you didn't crap all over this thing for being small. Love small cars!
Small cars with manual transmissions are the most fun you can have at legal speeds. LOL
Very very true
I bought one already! Will get it by Wednesday. Can't wait
