Carnatic Classical Instrumental - Thyagaraja Pancharatna Kritis - A Flute Duet - Flute J.A.Jayant

Pancharatna Kritis (Five Ratnas or Five Gems), consisting of five songs were composed by Saint Sri Tyagaraja. The first of the five is Jagadhanandha Karaka in the Raga Nattai in the language Sanskrit, followed by Dhuduku Gala in the Raga Gowlai in the language Telugu. The third popular song Saadhinchane, is composed in Raga Arabhi in the language Telugu. The fourth song Kanakanaruchira, is composed in Raga Varali in the language Telugu. The fifth and last song Endaro Mahanubhavulu, is composed in Raga Sri in the language Telugu. Saint Tyagaraja's compositions were mostly on Lord Rama and these Pancharatna Kritis are performed by various artists together at Tiruvaiyaru, Tamil Nadu, India on the occasion of Saint Tyagaraja's Aradhana Day. He composed most of his songs in the Language Telugu. Saint Sri Tyagaraja lived in the 18th Century and his divine home is believed to have been visited by Lord Rama himself. Saint Sri Tyagaraja is one of the Three Trinities of Carnatic Music; the rest two being Shri Muthuswami Dikshitar and Sri Syama Sastri. Saint Sri Tyagaraja is considered to be one of the strongest pillars of the Carnatic Music. His pure devotion that lead to the composition of thousands and thousands of kritis, is inspiring the arists and younger generation till date. This rendition of Pancharatna Kritis by Vidwan Shri JA Jayant is a treat to our ears as it enhances the divine musical experience and also enriches the Pancharatna Kritis.
About the Artist
Sri J A Jayant is a carnatic flautist from India. He has explored the field of Carnatic Music at a very young age by performing at various prestigious venues such as The Music Academy of Madras, The Shanmukhananda Hall in Mumbai, Darbar Festival in UK etc. He started his initial training under his grandmother and was later trained by his grandfather Vidwan Shri TS Sankaran. JA Jayant is a prodigy and has made his mark in the field at a very young age.

I just listened to this album, shared by my friend Shri Ravikumar of Delhi.
Excellent flautist, probably a prodigy.
Lip-finger coordination is remarkable and the flute is singing.
His sadhana and gnaanam are note-worthy, in that he is able to accurately catch the sahithyam phrases and express well.
I am certain he will go places.
The accompaniment Mridangam is apt and pleasant. Don't know who the artist is but needs appreciation too.
