Tom, nice job as usual. Been playing this bass part since the early/mid 60’s when I was part of a garage band in elementary school. PM was so creative and melodic.
I use this as a warmup exercise and it's excellent. Great for the fingers, shifting positions and keeping time. And if you really want to nail it, try singing the lyrics at the same time! That's tough
well played... thanks Tom!.. this is a great workout for my lazy little finger... 🙂 I found it useful to use a metronome on this one starting around 100bpm and working up to 137bpm... thanks again... 👍
We can see the live performance in Japan 1966, Paul played it differently than this video demo. Paul played it 7 then 5-6 on d string-shifts up on d string to play the b on 9 he stays in that position, across to g string 9-7 dstring 9- slides up to grab F# on g string, brings back his hand hand and plays the last three notes in that main position- 9 d string 7-9 on g string and repeats. This is more logical to me as well, as here in your video, you play the d on the d string and the e on the g string, however, disconnecting the d and e in this way does not match the flow of the line. In the flow of the line, the d and e are connected in more of a hammer on approach, the way we play the hammer-on from g to g sharp. Those are my two cents.

Yeah I noticed that also. I guess play it the way you’re comfortable with. I play the A part of the verses with open strings.
Not that easy though!
