The singer treadle machine ,was just so beautiful,l have one ,but not with all the flower decals on it ,this one you have is stunningly beautiful.l had a very small singer machine when l was 8 years of age ,that started my love for stitching and sewing .😘enjoy your machine .
Very interesting. Love antique sewing machines. My hubby does antique refinishing and has used the same product several times. Can’t wait to see it all done. You have been missed dear friend.
Very cool and interesting!!! My grandma used an old treadle, which I loved. It is with her daughter, my aunt. Just loved the photos of the kitties at the end. They are adorable!! Thanks for sharing!! Hugs from NE Ohio.
This is very interesting. I have a treadle singer that I bought several years ago, but have never tried restoring as it is in pretty good shape. My decals are a little worn where you would expect them to be, but still beautiful. Your’s are absolutely gorgeous. I have never seen the coffin type stand before so I am enjoying your commentary as you restore your wonderful piece. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Blessings and take care.
Nice work, Laurie! I'm so happy you're bringing her back to life! She is very similar to the machine my grandmother (who was a men's tailor at the Pike Place Market from 1910-1930's) sewed on and taught me when I was a child! (Boy, was I ever happy when we got an electric machine!) Can't wait to see the final finish! Hugs, Candace
Wow, I bet your Grandmother had great stories. I tried to find tailoring classes when I lived in Olympia, but never found anything. It feels like it’s a dying art.
@@texstylust I wish she had stories, Laurie, but she never spoke enough English, sadly. She did, however, pass on tailoring to me which seems to still be embedded in my aging brain!😉
Enjoyed your video. You are so lucky to find a treadle in such good condition. I have been restoring machines for many years and have watched Sew Purty videos for information. Wish I could take a class with him. Looking forward to your next video on this machine.
Have been watching your past episodes and so excited to see you have this machine! I also have a VS2 1889. It has a single drawer with a simple facing and no extension table, otherwise the same (UK model). It had the wrong shuttle and it kept skipping stitches so I tried a different shuttle and it now sews beautifully. The product you used on the wood has worked like magic and I must give it a try. Hope you can get her sewing. I just love the sound it makes and the quality stitches.
Loved this! I just inherited 2 antique Singers! One is a Sphinx and the other is older in a drop in Singer table. I believe 1902; could be older. I JUST picked them up from my aunt this past weekend and have not had a chance to look up the model numbers. I do hope you’ll post more videos on oiling the machines and cleaning up the iron below the table. I’m sooo excited about all this and thankful you made this video!!! My machines are in pretty great shape, especially the Sphinx. It’s covered in gold! ❤
Thanks Julie! Congratulations on your new to you treasures. Lucky girl on the Sphinx. I haven’t encountered one in good condition yet. If you can, check with your family and document any stories associated with your machines. They all have stories. It might be a bit before I get to the next one, but I will!
I have a 1891 in amazing condition , the machine only , table wasnt with her when i rescued her , i have a youtube channel as well showing all my collection ,lol and addiction ....what a beautiful machine , i found one with a flower paint job but was soooofar gone she has almost nothing left , she unfortunately is for parts now but maybe one day i will repaint her and give her life again but only time will tell , thanks for sharing ....
Awesome! I headed right over to subscribe. I don’t remember what I mentioned in the video, but I have a good collection of treadle and a huge collection overall of machines. It’s a happy addiction! I do need to thin the herd soon so I have room in my studio. It’s so hard to let go though. 🤣. I look forward to seeing your collection!
Very informative! I have some wood furniture with water spots and I’m going to try this! My daughter splattered a perfume sample on my wood dining room table back in 1990 and it left a few spots on my wood finish. Maybe this will help. Thank you so much!
Hi Lori! This was really interesting. How do you maintain your machines after restoration? My Grandmother’s treadle machine has a few mars so not really needing the restor product but I’m not really sure how to keep it as beautiful as possible. Thank you, Lori B.
Hi Lori! Great question! The best and easiest thing to do is keep the machine well oiled. Not just the inner workings, but clean sewing machine oil (not lubricant), lightly rubbed over the machine head itself will keep it nice. Even if you aren’t using it, run the treadle mechanism a good 5-10 minutes to distribute the oil. Good exercise! You can usually find a manual for all vintage/antique machine online and it will give you an abundance of information. There are lot’s of videos as well. What kind of machine do you have and what is the serial number?
Also, Howards Orange Oil Feed N Wax is a great way to keep the wood nourished and looking great. Here is a link so you know what it looks like. It can be found at furniture stores and online. www.amazon.com/Howard-Products-FW0016-Feed-N-Wax-Conditioner/dp/B001BKQYGW/ref=asc_df_B001BKQYGW/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167151917164&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=59018050002915712&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1024400&hvtargid=pla-359966166447&psc=1

Wow! I have long wanted a treadle, but have no room at this time. Hopefully, if I ever get the “dream” home I will have the perfect spot.
She is GORGEOUS. ❤
Love this! Thank you.

Am I the only one that sees the faint image of a mans face just to the side of where the rings she was trying to remove ?...
😂😂😂 Now that you’ve pointed it out! You must be watching intently!
