But the actual role for DPS in Marvel Rivals is Duelist. ♥But another awesome video beyond that, and I love the perspective of what the future of the game could hold based on what we have seen pertaining to Venom.
We all want him, hopefully he's a DPS with some sort of healing passive or skill. He should use his pistols and then his melee and maybe a skill or two are his swords.
My buddy and I would dive as Spider-man and Star Lord so it’ll be nice to have a tank like venom to dive with us. It’s really disruptive because people don’t know how to counter it and it just becomes overwhelming for the enemy team. Also hope they fix hulks kit so he can dive properly 🙏
People have been comparing him to the plant character from plants vs zombies. But I also see lots of similarities between him and Doomfist mixed with Ball imo. For me it's the fact that he's a dive tank that flanks and he gives himself over health from using his abilities and he has a slam ability like Doom. His ultimate is even the same idea as Doom where you're just supposed to get a singular kill or two.
I hope they add more Xmen soon, my main wishes are Jubilee and Nightcrawler, i think Jubilee can be a fun demolition character, and nightcrawler can be a support/strategist that disrupt enemy positioning by teleporting them away
on some games, there something called initiator which mostly classified on tank characters because of there survivability and sustained damage or heal for themselves. Rather than a tank who takes all the damage, initiator also can distract the enemies to forcely avert their attention and make a good play for the team.

While I agree it's super dope they made venom this way, I'd argue that Loki kinda set this standard already as I'd def consider him to be a flank/support hybrid. That said I am SUPER welcome to them expanding on hybrid characters and that gives me more hope for a tanky DPS Wolverine :)
venom is clearly more of an off tank as opposed to a main shielding tank, This is essential especially in 6v6 because i've always loved playing tanks but none of them seemed that fun to me but venom looks alot more my playstyle and i know there will be many others who agree and getting 2 people to pick tank without role lock means there has to be multiple fun options in every role and the tanks already have penny and hulk that are both basically useless

I think its really good for the Rivals team to DO THAT. a lot of games try to avoid using hard limit terms like tank or healer to disencentivize thinking of them in purely one role, when they cover much more than that (such as league using enchanter instead of healer or back in the old days of overwatch, they'd have defense and support separate from actual tank) because nobody wants to play just the hardlocked Healer or the Shieldy Boy McTankerson. Hybridizing the roles is super important, and its clear that's their intention. Vanguard doesn't mean Tank, it means offensive wall - none of the "tanks" are PURELY tank, despite some of them being more on the defensive side. Strange PUMPS and has utility in his kit penni is sort of a zone controller, even hulk (who as many point out, sucked buns) was not as much a tank as he was a disruption and Groot had a tinge of Support built in, magneto is probably the only TRUE tank in the whole roster. similar the duelists are not exactly DPS but more generally damage oriented and often spill into other roles, like namor being a control mage or storm being a mobility enhancer. Rocket does damage like crazy, but he's a support because his primary focus isn't the damage, its the utility he brings. everyone is like that. Some a bit more focused like starlord and hela being basically purely dps or magneto being about as close to Tank as we'll get for the time being or Luna being almost entirely a healer with a bit extra utility. So long as they make characters that have a core role that dips into others instead of something like doomfist or brigitte that is more "this other role that benefits from being classified as something else" i think they're absolutely golden. Hopefully I'll see you in the beta! I was a strange main (logged like 50 hours of strange with like 10 of magneto and a handful of others in the sub hour playtime) and i'm looking forward to what they do to act on feedback for the beta. The alpha had a LOT to be desired, so i hope they did good things and listened to people. Definitely looking forward to more of your content on this channel too!

agreed, but giving them weakness is more important. Don't make things unkillable and have alot of healing like Kiriko or Baptiste or Brigitte, or Orisa and Hog and then you can't nerf them right on the pretext of interesting characters.
I feel like they should have given him an ability to plant eggs or smh that can be destroyed by enemies but if left unchecked spawn a simbiote for every teammate, giving them extra health and the team Up he has with Spiderman and peni. Just an idea tho to make him more tankish.

However, if you got into the previous closed alpha and managed to get to level 10 then you are automatically qualified into the beta Edit: I think you might be able to sign up directly though it's steam page that they will add sometime at the end of June
Actually no, according to some news. It's an open beta. For players on the PC you just wishlist the game and then in July you request to access. For consola you have to fill out a forum.
@@Warblaaster I played during Alpha and for what it’s worth they specifically said that the next test would be a closed beta. I do not know if that’s changed or not, but I still have the game in my library so I at least know Alpha players are retaining access.

He is similar to a Paladins "off tank" if you search on yt. I love off tanks since they have the power to carry the team with little help from the team

Venom isnt exactly purely offensive, he has the ability to gain bonus health for dealing damage and the effect is doubled when hes below half health, so like roadhog a little bit, if hes being playn like a tank, hes a body blocker that constantly heals himself based on how much damage hes able to dish out.

If you notice, every time he uses a spider web he has cooldown, so he won't have the same mobility as spiderman.

If I've learned anything from role-based games, it's that you don't fuse tanks with healers or dps.
