I think the most obscene thing I've done is making Osvald an Arcanist while holding the sunshadow staff and having the Stone of Truth. The damage output with both his dark and light magic is disgusting
I love Osvald, but it takes so much setup to make him do big damage. And not only that, but I have trouble making a decent party that fits him well. I usually end up with a support healer and 2 physical attackers, while Osvald just sits in a corner buffing himself and doing magic stuff lol.
I assume we'll be talking about the character specific talents in a different video? Cause it definitely feels like the characters that have an active talent (Hikari, Ochette, Castii) are just a world apart from the characters that have a passive or "summon NPC" talent.
Words can't describe the disappointment I felt when I saw that conjure **whatever** doesn't stack on multiple hits, I was so excited to have 6-fold strike just obliterate shields, and then it just took 1 extra. I mean castti's concoct and inventor agnea exist, shits already just broken. Idk that was the major thing i wanted from the class, the rain is pretty good i guess and I've never seen a situation where the giga revive is good.
@@taihaku oh it would absolutely be broken, but it would make the skills feel far more useful. Just make it to where instead of lasting x turns the buff lasts for x amount of attacks, so at most you're getting like 5 extra procs of the element before it wears off. I think runelord had a similar problem in the first game too, the reason it was beyond broken was because tressa could abuse sidestep with it and transfer it to the whole party (which haha partitio with arcanist exists), so outside of the BP boost and sp rain the class feels like a big waste. I decided to choose my team randomly in terms of the order I got all my characters, and Agnea is my protagonist, so I’ve dealt with dancer a little more than I’d have liked to XD but when I got inventor, I immediately gave it to her and haven’t been disappointed since. Castti was high on my list. As long as you have all the right materials you can keep for party healed and with max BP. Damage output with Max BP can range from 10-12K. Agnea as an Arms Master can wipe out most groups of enemies using her Latent power. Merchant is only a game breaker if you have a enough money. I think you’re severely undervaluing the dancer class, i had my main guy (Temenos) as a Dancer for most of my run (mainly for coersion but sh) and I didn’t use it a ton but i use Agnea’s dances all the time. Her buffs are really useful for hitting HARD and stimulate comes in real handy in a pinch. Additionally, Sealticge’s Seduction is easily my most used Divine Ability. My favorite pairup is slapping it on Temenos and giving the entire party more than their hp cap with Prayer of Plenty then sailing through the rest of the battle functionally unscathed, it was a real lifesaver in many battles (most notably Castti’s final boss) I also think you’re undervaluing Scholar and Conjurer because of your aversion to magical attacks and attackers Scholars’ magical damage is through the roof especially with advanced magic and Alephan’s wisdom applying to Clerics and your Arcanist as well. I run Osvald as my Arcanist with the Stone of Truth equipped and he’s one of my heaviest hitters. The Conjurer i have on Temenos and it essentially turns him into the ultra-supporter. The extra attack comes in real handy with tons of people. I use prayer of rain occasionally, but its real strengths are 1. Access to Wind Magic Wind Magic is super hard to come across since the only character with AoE wind is Agnea, but its a common weakness so putting it on everyone is phenomenal 2. Triple-hits and AoE hits With the cleric’s double staff, thief’s double hit, and dancer and apothecary’s AoE, you can end up hitting 2 shields across the board or 3 on one person. This also extends to double-hitting weapons like the double tomohawk, which also has a sizable magic attack boost. I may be biased since Temenos is my main guy who I’ve never not used (so my best teams tend to skew magical) I would personally put this class into the Good category, because its not ridiculously broken but it’s definitely not as situational as you make it out to be
My class choices are Temenos - Conjurer (Support with a capital S) Osvald - Arcanist (Big Big BIG Magic Hits) Hikari - Armsmaster (Cheating. Its Cheating. He’s so good as Armsmaster) Agnea - Apothecary (Extends the better Revive to the whole team, can get rid of all debuffs, i also have her as an SP Bank with her special dance ability) Ochette - Thief (Speed Demon, hits like a truck, debuffs a lot) Castti - Warrior (Heal-Tank. She can take all the hits all the time and heal to boot) Partitio - Inventor (makes him a good dps, a good wild card, just good) Throné - Merchant (I really didn’t know what to do with her, shes not my fav, and merchant is a good class to use for her)
I'm only at early to mid game, level 30, and I was looking at agnea- merchant to battery. Hikari- hunter for high phys damage. Ochette- warrior. High phys. And osvald- cleric as both healer and elemental break
It's insane my Throne doing 99,999 DMG at level 60, while Hikari and Ochette only doing 20-40k with their special Magic feel so bad this game, was so strong octopath 1 especially with sorcerer, guess they balanced it.
@@TheTaicho123 I just put all speed on her, since she is my main character and I always fight at night. she takes 2 turns with her limit, I armor shred first then I just use her ultimate, the 20-40k dmg from oche and hikari is also armor shredded (I only cast the shred when the boss is broken)
Is it just me, or is BP Boost just awful? I haven't used it, but because you apply it after the team regains BP for the turn, it really only applies for 2 turns. Meaning a trade of 3 BP for 4, which Donate BP can also do (both for much cheaper and all at once, meaning you can't waste any by boosting the turn after you receive the buff). If you still get the 2 BP per turn even if you boosted the previous turn, then I can see some small use for it.
I just play the original octopath traveler game to test out hidden jobs to compare them to octopath traveler 2 hidden jobs. My results are they pretty bad in OT2 in general with exception to one, maybe 2 class in this game because there isn't similar job in OT1: Rune Lord being better than Conjurer; they provide the same thing with Rune lord but he get elemental attack for every physical strike Arm Master being better than Blade master; personally I thought it was downgrade at 1st because he need use specific weapons for his abilities but thanks to weapons passive he feels more powerful that Blade Master Arc magus being better than Arcanist: access to 4 hit with any elements available, makes the scholar dog sh!t class in OT1 Starseer having a tie with Inventor: they can't be compared because one is offensive healer that can make decent damage (Starseer), the other is offensive support (inventor)
I find scholar to be lackluster. I feel like it's been downgraded from Octopath 1, since you have to setup multihit instead of just getting to use two hit spells. I thought elemental barrage would save it, but it falls off a cliff in both damage and break potential once enemies start getting the other elements as weaknesses. Other casters have trouble with damage and shields as well, but cleric and arcanist have great utility for other members of the party, so they mesh better as supports.
@@purplatypus7405 Yeah hikari is good too. I think rogue has higher potential still. I only had mediocre gear on her when I beat the game and not all my pieces had speed. I stacked all my physical damage crit adn health on hikari but the rogue out dpsed him. You also kinda have to use "blessing in disguise" accessory to get the most out of her.
@@mrlacksoriginality4877 if you mean Divine skill then it only ads speed from the equiped dagger only from all the weapons. If you wanna pump 99999 look in to Assassin Partitio with BTBlade and Lost Tribe Dagger I think or was it Forbidden Dagger? And equip him with all the gear that gives speed plus accessory that increase damage of boosted attack.
I don’t think Seal of Diffusion and Vengeful Blade works (Yes, everyone gets the counter status, but then they don’t counter when hit by Physical. Might be Swordlocked and nobody in my party had swords equipped except for Hikari but so far it didn’t work for me)
Sadly I'm on everyone's 4th story with everyone on or above lv 33 so I've just let most of my party die so there's actually a semblance of challenge a pc mod for hard mode would be killer but I'm on ps4 sadly I wanted to play this so bad for 2 or 3 years since I couldnt play the 1st one now it's just so easy I'm almost sad
I feel like your just barely getting to endgame and there are weapons that become keystone to a class build like Stone Of truth for casters Thunders roar and Battle Tested Blade.
There is no way that a warrior is better than a scholar. The scholar can break 4 different types. Plus elemental barrage is better than any of the warriors skills. But I like your list.
Casters are good in the early game feel terrible in the midgame but are beast in the late game. Thiefs Apothicarys Hunters and Merchants are all realy good mixed attackers. Like thderbird will hit hard as a mouther fucker with battle tested axe that axe gives 400 physical 250 magical and gives increased potency to ice and lightning attacks.
Ok guys, you know the hunter and apothecary quest line, as soon as I Beat the mammoth thing in part 1, it's MEANT to prompt part 2 but it doesn't, I've tried everything getting the part 2 to prompt. When I visit the bar/tavern and look at stories it tells me that part 1 is complete. But there's nothing regarding part 2? I've tried going back to the area. Tried restarting, tried everything
I like your list and reasoning, lined up pretty well with my experience. Ive played the game to around level 50 I have one story complete. So my early game tier list without the advanced classes goes. S: Merchant A: Warrior, Cleric B: Scholar, Hunter, Apothecary C: Dancer, Thief Merchant is just insane in the early and mid game with hired help. You can kill level 40 enemies at level 15 when you have to. Even without that hired help at 150 is at worst a team wide defense buff. Warrior I've found to be the best class at breaking things efficiently because of the multihit sword moves and the counter attack ability to break anything slowly. Cleric is the best support, and I used Agnea for my Scholar and was able to multitarget elemental barrage which made it very damage and break efficient Vs groups so I definitely have a different experience than someone using a different character would, but even then early game was the hardest part of the game for me because I like to go to hard areas before I'm supposed to and that's one of the abilities that allowed me to get away with that
I don't think you can send private messages. Discord is the best spot for that or twitter. Link to both should be in the description if it's me you want to message
Thorne as pure Theif was worst. Partitio as Theif was way better since with the right set up you can hit the special aoe skill based on speed to wipe the enimies in 1st turn. But yes other than that their casting of atk/def down and generall shield breaking is what i used them for. Cleric i hated too. Rarely will you use light magic and when you do it feels weak as shit compared to other element magic. The heal all fucking sucks!!!! Idk why, they made the heal ability for the Apothecary way better. For all heal purposes i find myself just using items more, and or of course casttit unique special if im using her. Number one class is probably Scholar. Literally you will always want elemental magic while playing, and Scholar does it the best so therefore Osvald or an job- equipped scholoar stays in rotation. Next is Armsmaster is the next useful due to shield breaking. Inventer next - but mostly used with agnea only. Merchant is a cheat class with that pay to win crap. It feels so cheap. It doesnt count. And then every other class inbetween are just like filler episodes.
Yeah, I am not this far, but seeing Conjurer being like the runelord, I don't see it being weak late game. Those elemental follow-up attacks were AMAZING in the first one with proper setup. And the fact that in this one you cast them as AOE is just icing on the cake.
So I chose Hikari first and I did look up Conjuror in my free time because to me looking up jobs isn’t really spoilers. I’m relieved to know I’m not missing out on an important job besides the SP Saver skill because I’m going to end with Hikari’s final chapter because I think finishing where it all began would be a neat way to end the game
@Brief Keef You need to finish Hikari’s Chapter 5 in order to even get Conjurer, and for Arcanist you need a boat for it, and there’s a whirlpool which has a tough boss in it
I think Dancer only works well in Agnea (duh) thanks to her Allure path action. I use her as a cheap SP battery mostly all the game. Yes, I know it isn't amazing but way better than base Dancer in another character.
@Purplatypus totally get that but then don't weigh the latent ability if temenos being eh and then saying other characters latents can't be judged. Not to mention just claiming some characters are kinda not good just proves he isn't fully utilizing them for instance merchant being the most op class with a full hp and sp heal while having a high attack stat....nah it's eh though right?
The chart makes no sense since Throne by herself is one of the strongest character. Her latent power alone can be abused so much with Apothecary ult. And I won't even mention the Thief ulti casually AoEing everything for 90k+ when properly built.

Agnea - Apothecary (Extends the better Revive to the whole team, can get rid of all debuffs, i also have her as an SP Bank with her special dance ability)
Ochette - Thief (Speed Demon, hits like a truck, debuffs a lot)
Castti - Warrior (Heal-Tank. She can take all the hits all the time and heal to boot)
Partitio - Inventor (makes him a good dps, a good wild card, just good)
Throné - Merchant (I really didn’t know what to do with her, shes not my fav, and merchant is a good class to use for her)
After i finished my playthrough I'll try doing solo run with Hikari, this is a good list mid-late game thanks
I'm only at early to mid game, level 30, and I was looking at agnea- merchant to battery. Hikari- hunter for high phys damage. Ochette- warrior. High phys. And osvald- cleric as both healer and elemental break
It's insane my Throne doing 99,999 DMG at level 60, while Hikari and Ochette only doing 20-40k with their special
Magic feel so bad this game, was so strong octopath 1 especially with sorcerer, guess they balanced it.
What is your build with her that you are getting that damage ?
Hey bro, where u get Castti itens make potions??
I got them from just opening chests mostly or path actions but all towns have some items for sale for her concoct
Hikari can give everyone Sidestep. Find the NPC. He can also do Fire light dark. Add stone for advanced all time
I just play the original octopath traveler game to test out hidden jobs to compare them to octopath traveler 2 hidden jobs. My results are they pretty bad in OT2 in general with exception to one, maybe 2 class in this game because there isn't similar job in OT1:
Rune Lord being better than Conjurer; they provide the same thing with Rune lord but he get elemental attack for every physical strike
Arm Master being better than Blade master; personally I thought it was downgrade at 1st because he need use specific weapons for his abilities but thanks to weapons passive he feels more powerful that Blade Master
Arc magus being better than Arcanist: access to 4 hit with any elements available, makes the scholar dog sh!t class in OT1
Starseer having a tie with Inventor: they can't be compared because one is offensive healer that can make decent damage (Starseer), the other is offensive support (inventor)
Apothecary on Throne is THE SHIT though. And Dancers divine skill makes cleric the best support class in the game
Dancer is the best class because bewildering grace is the funniest move
i one time used it out of sheer desperation because everyone was low on HP, it killed everyone instead lol
Rogue has the highest potential damage if you stack speed. I easily got 50k damage and was the strongest skill i had when i finished the game.
50k damage is not very much for my characters anymore. I can get that with less BP on Hikari
Stacking on speed on weapon actually doesnt do anything. It only uses the speed of the dagger sadly (armor and other do stack tho)
@@Chippy1222 Yes that is correct. I am taking about speed nuts on her.
Might be Swordlocked and nobody in my party had swords equipped except for Hikari but so far it didn’t work for me)
You do need swords on the character so it's a more specific build but still super strong if you set it up right
What job combos do you use early game?
Early gane iI used
warrior/hunter
Thief/cleric
Dancer/Inventor
Merchant/thief
@@purplatypus7405 thanks! Anything for the other 4? I’m following your videos
Armsmaster is my absolute favorite class.
Merchant has let me win fights I had no right winning
Does anyone know if Weak to Poison stacks with Arms Master Lion Heart Axe ability?
Can you please help me with a bug in game
What's the bug?
Can you explain more about the bug?
Ok guys, you know the hunter and apothecary quest line, as soon as I Beat the mammoth thing in part 1, it's MEANT to prompt part 2 but it doesn't, I've tried everything getting the part 2 to prompt. When I visit the bar/tavern and look at stories it tells me that part 1 is complete. But there's nothing regarding part 2? I've tried going back to the area. Tried restarting, tried everything
@zentinal how do you know its meant to prompt part 2? Have you beaten Ochette's and Cassti's stories?
@@Raverage11 I'm pretty sure you just need to continue the chapters, the crossed paths unlock a little at a time, not the entire story all at once.
So there's no Starseer in this one? Damn I guess it was just too OP lol
So the conjurer is basically the runelord from Octopath 1? I don't have him at this time
Never got the runelord in #1
@Brief Keef the octopath goat never finished octopath 1
I liked it but two just feels so improved in all relevant ways
I like your list and reasoning, lined up pretty well with my experience. Ive played the game to around level 50 I have one story complete. So my early game tier list without the advanced classes goes.
S: Merchant
A: Warrior, Cleric
B: Scholar, Hunter, Apothecary
C: Dancer, Thief
Merchant is just insane in the early and mid game with hired help. You can kill level 40 enemies at level 15 when you have to. Even without that hired help at 150 is at worst a team wide defense buff.
Warrior I've found to be the best class at breaking things efficiently because of the multihit sword moves and the counter attack ability to break anything slowly.
Cleric is the best support, and I used Agnea for my Scholar and was able to multitarget elemental barrage which made it very damage and break efficient Vs groups so I definitely have a different experience than someone using a different character would, but even then early game was the hardest part of the game for me because I like to go to hard areas before I'm supposed to and that's one of the abilities that allowed me to get away with that
The Dancer is broken. Easily S tier. Its divine skill is the best in the game. Combine that with Divine Protection from Hikari for instance.
can you make a character tier lists
Once I have more experience with all characters I 100% plan to
@@purplatypus7405 thank you!
Anyone know how to send a private message on the TH-cam situation, old guy here…
I don't think you can send private messages.
Conjure is needed for end game bosses
He's not at the endgame yet
Also Agnea latent power + apothecary rehabilitation/health regen is just amazing.
Finish the game and judge characters better
This is not w character tier list but a job tier list.
He is looking at Thief by itself. Not Thronė or Thief with Thronė. You even say her latent power is abusable with Apothecary not Thief.
Plat hit me up I have some buisness related question for you. I’d leave my email but that’s probably not right. Idk contact me me some how. I’m old. Bam
