Such a tease Roger! (new developer). Beautiful results! I actually kinda like some of the compositions with the leaves cut off. It kinda tells a bit of a story there? Maybe I say that because I also don't like cutting things off. At first I thought you did that on purpose. I also know the feeling with crap on the negs. I use a plastic garment bag intended for one's Sunday best that I can hang from the light fixture in my darkroom. It works quite well for that. Doesn't help when I get something in the shot when I take it though which does happen to me from time to time (happened to me on Saturday in fact, doh!).
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss Ok....now I want fish and chips too! No good place here in this tiny village for that however. And no vehicle to get to the nearest city where there is a wonderful restaurant that serves up freshly caught walleye and homemade fries, oh, chips lol.
Mr. Multiple Spectacles! Love it, Rog. Regarding drying: I've always been told bathrooms are the best you can do for drying as they tend to have less dust/particulates than other rooms. Not sure if that's wholly accurate. I catch the odd dust bits in our spare, which is where I dry my negs.
Ha ha yeah it's a pain double specs! The bathroom has been the best place for me to hang negs and get all the towels out (usually!). I shut the door and open the window slightly. Not often I get trapped hair or dust.
@@matthewsmith5883 My bathroom is my darkroom and so far has been decent for drying film. I just turn on the exhaust fan to draw any moisture out of the air. Having a cat i am always battling stray fur...ROFL
First of all, thank you for all the information you shared. I still have a lot to learn and it's great that I can watch with you! I have the same problem with drying. I'm thinking of using the IKEA VUKU clothing tent. The IKEA SLIBB fits in here. The clothespins cannot be used as they are too slippery for film with a weight on it. By placing a moisture absorber for cars in it, the air dries very quickly. And I can keep the misses happy because everything can be put away quickly. I don't have a shed where it all fits.
Loved the video format on this one...iexcellent choice of camera and film stock and subject spot on ...noticed the choice of format instead not going full frame ..but it still worked really nice..( .used to use a hairdryer and check filter and let it run a few secs..but here in FL there are ceiling Thermador)..
plumbing tube with some desiccant holders with a fan above it to gently blow dry air into the tube. You can refresh most silica desiccants so there's that advantage.
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss there are some specific things you can get to do this with standard fittings. That said if you go that route you'll want to use a blower fan due to the pressure needed
LOVELY shots!!! I have one window, north facing for nice light but unfortunately my cat has conquered that territory and assigned herself Queen. But that is why I have lights and modifiers I suppose, lol. But hey just found motivation for the weekend!!! Thanks Roger! You really have a handle on minimalism!!
@@CarrieJamrogowicz If only she would let me get at least ONE good shot. 6 years living here and I have yet to get that one nice shot....she can be a poop and i think she is being aloof for the camera on purpose.....LOL🐱🐈🐈⬛
As always inspirational shots that would be perfect for wall hanging. That hair, what if you re washed the negative ?. I have had that problem of marks & additions & worth a try rather than writing off a photo where it all seems to come together
If you could rig up something with a HEPA filter that would be a good option. My Dyson has a removable top with a built in HEPA and it would fit nicely in a PVC tube, A small computer fan attached to the bottom of the tube would then draw clean air though. Hmm, you've got me thinking now Roger. The 'new developer' seemed to perform very well. I have an idea what it is (got some 'new developer' at the Analogue Spotlight event to test ) so what are your first thoughts of it?
Maybe a few feet of thin wall 6 or 8 inch PVC pipe with a screw-on cap. Mount an old computer fan in the cap as an extractor and some cloth (cheesecloth?) over the bottom. Some hooks inside the cap for the negative clips. Hang it from the ceiling in the darkroom. Probably free if you scrounge stuff from your friends.
I have found even on Zeiss lenses f22 and f32 makes 'Diffraction' so spoils the sharpness PS -- on my Hasselblad A16 backs I have a Plastic Mask with 'Guide Lines ' for 16-0n format so never 'Cut Off Edges' Ha Ha !
Always a good day when you post a new video!
Cheers Matt
Yes I need to get back with my RZ67
These are great, you’re my new favourite photography channel. Nice to see some practical advice instead of people swinging their gear about 👍
Thanks 👍
Thanks
Thanks you very much. Thats very kind of you!
Another great inspiring video! Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it Henry

I did actually think that doesn't look too bad in an "I did it on purpose" sort of way Tim. But I installed the word "Damn" in my head. lol
Nicely done, as always. And now I'm hungry for fish and chips, too!
I was too!!

I think the bathroom is good for drying film because you can run a hot shower for a minute beforehand, the steam should pull the dust to the floor.

Today was eclipse day in the US, but shit weather is a given for any astronomical events. This is good inspiration to get some shots indoors!

Have a look on the comments, Tim Soderstrom from BitbybitPhoto also said he uses similar and works well.
As Michael Caine once said "You're not supposed to crop the bloody leaves off" "Sorry Charlie" 👏👏👏
HA HA HA!!! I can hear it being said in his voice

can you wash again to get the hair off the negative - will that work?
Someone else mentioned that Richard. I have never tried but I have a feeling the negative will still be marked
