Portland Weather, EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING STARTS JULY 4TH

Local weather for Portland Oregon and Pacific Northwest region from local meteorologist Rod Hill. An intense Heat Dome will anchor over the west July 4th through the weekend and into next week. My heat track shows at least 3 days of triple digits and 6-8 days of 90s or better. The Heat Wave will be long and intense. Portland's 7day forecast is updated.

I used to live in Redding, CA during the 60's and 70's. Our summers sat at 110+ for days on end, I swear this heat feels different, the uv more damaging. BTW, I moved in the 90's to a more moderate climate.

We had the hottest June ever here in Vegas. But its always hot here in summer, but Portland is supposed to be cool...kind of getting a bit scary now. 122 projected next week here.

NWS: 🌡🔥Forecast models are trending HOTTER later this week into this weekend. Many are now calling for dangerous heat, especially for the Willamette and other inland valleys. This includes the Portland/Vancouver, Salem, and Eugene metro areas.
This image shows the probability temperatures will reach 110°F Saturday afternoon. While this is still not the most likely outcome, chances of temps above 100°F have been steadily increasing. There is a non-zero chance that temperatures may approach those experienced in the June 2021 heat wave.
🕜 NOW is the time to think about how you will stay cool during this potentially dangerous heat wave. Inland temperatures will turn very hot by Friday. We all learned in June 2021 how deadly excessive heat can be.
