I just wish one of these companies would LISTEN. I can deal with a weak preamp more than a bad headphone out. One day Mike.... One day one of these bang for buck companies will nail it
@@ObscureMics I just got the $60 maono mixer sent to me. Not looking forward to it, but people keep asking, so let the hair pulling, teeth chewing frustration continue. Lol.
I'm really surprised that Maono has 24 bits/192 Khz USB microphones or 48 Khz at least, but their interfaces are stuck on 16 bits. Also no one has a mute button, that I consider a valuable feature. Anyway, I would like to see your PD200x review some day.
I asked them for a pd200x and they wanted to send a plastic usb gaming mic.... Meh And yeah there's just too many inconsistencies to believe these are rebadged products at this point
A critique of the headphone out is particularly helpful, since (as far as I know), unlike most of the other features on a device like this, there’s no way that it can be demoed to TH-cam viewers (at least not as easily as other features). This is the only review I’ve seen of this device that covers this key detail - so thanks. I was somewhat interested in this device until I came across this review that covered that weakness.
Even with the zero latency monitor button at the back, it sounds delayed and reverby? I hope Maono fixes that because all we'll end up perceiving from the headphones will be misleading. I hope they come up with a V2 with improved headphones amps.
If you wanted a way to record some "different" type of B-roll clips it could be fun. I absolutely agree with the headphones needing to be latency free for other uses. I think I could have a little fun with it aside from podcasts or anything else that needs real time monitoring.
is there any good audio interface that you recommend in the 100 - 200 range? I was eyeing this but since you had some issues and also the shure sm7b sounded way off, I would like to know if there are any better alternatives that doesn't break the bank? great video, thanks for the review.
The M-Audio Air 192|4 is a great one for $120 - Audient Evo4 for the same - The tascam 2x2HR for $129 - Yamaha AG03 mkii is my current favorite at $189 if you like mixers
I see, the thing is most of those looks like for professional audio recording purposes, I don't intend to do those I'm just using it so I can connect a XLR microphone and gives me adjustments like pitch, reverb and other mixer settings, also sound pad is necessary for me. So basically I'm looking for similar products like the rodecaster 2 pro but that's too expensive for personal uses as I don't intend using it for professional audio recordings. So something like the maono but a bit better in quality I guess?
@@ObscureMics it sounds almost the same as when I was snorkling and my friend on the boat playing music. Better just use the karaoke versions out there
@@ObscureMics will upgrade to a normal interface soon I guess. Still waiting for the mic, it's also maono, the pd400x, has dual, USB and xlr., and the BA90 boom arm, mic will come today, arm still china.. for now I just like to use the caster for creating some audio for my drone vids.
IF your iPhone will recognize this as a digital interface with a usb C to lightning cable, that is rhetorical way. If it doesn’t recognize it, the. The 3.5mm out to a lightning headphone adapter. Both should work…again…the usb c to lightning being the best…and that should work and the device will use its battery for power

As long as you have a trrs input on a device....you should be able to record calls no problem, and yep on the music in background too. this device has multiple ins
It makes me think that most of these podcast devices are using the same chip, and that zero latency monitoring would require a modification to its design. Just a guess.
There is everything to give 9.5 of 10 but one thing get this sound card to low rating of maybe 2/10.. Maybe.. And this is "no mic mute button".. Now other will say: you have mic slider and you can put it to 0.. That's true but slider after 100-200x of moving will get noise, no matter of quality.. So for me.. Because of no mic mute button, rating is 2/10
Funny how these devices all run into the exact same problem. Can't imagine that it's something inherent to the style, so why doesn't one company step up and make a device that can take over the whole market segment, if only for a while?
All of these maonocaster sound the same do the same thing and there is no improvement hell the sm7b sounds so off and while I'm not using my headphones I can tell when the sm7b sounds harsh or clipping
Great vid as always. Man what a device this could be without that darn reverb. Took me two weeks to get used to it enough just to do the review. 🤯

Yeah as much as people say you don't "need" 24 bit.
It really helps people make better recordings if they are trying to optimize their noise floor.
I agree. And in 2023....24bit should simply be the standard

Same. They have to get sick of hearing about the latency
How does this compare to the Go XLR Mini?
I have not used that device, but I could not imagine it being a favorable comparison for the Maono
If you are going to buy 1 of this maono what you will choose between neo c2 and this manono e 2 ? What of the 2 you will choose ?
Neo
