    With the steering wheel control module are you allowed to still cycle through your factory computer to get to your other settings and vehicle information? How does this do that when you have to use the steering wheel volume up and down to navigate the car's computer?

    2012 Honda Civic doesn't need the HDCC-01, it just needs standard harness.what I said above is true for sure at least for the lx coupe, most likely for all 2012 Civic. The sellers description is misleading, lots of them say that this adapter to retain the factory clock is for 2012 Honda Civic, that is not true because Honda did some changes after 2012, this adapter might be required for 2013 and after.I learned the above the hard way because I installed HDCC-01 on 2012 Civic lx coupe, noticed some minor change on the factory clock display but did not bother since the factory clock was retained. few months later I was in a short vacation and the car was not driven for 6 days, to find the battery was totally or almost totally drained. to make the story short, ended up finding that HDCC-01 was the cause after removing it the current draw dropped from 0.190 ampere to only between 0.009 and 0.010 Ampere. and guess what? the factory clock was retained after removing this HDCC-01.I contacted the manufacturer blaming them for misleading and here is a copy of their reply, not sure I can post the screen shot was attached. of course after what I heard from them I cannot blame them. you can also go to Crutchfield website, select any after market head unit, select the car and see if it fits, of course any after market head unit will fit, then click on installation gear required for the car, you will not find that adapter mentioned. now go back and select the 2013 and you will find that adapter mentioned and required to retain the factory clock, but for 2013 not 2012. Reply from the manufacturer of HDCC-01 Thank you for contacting Metra Tech Support. I’m sorry to hear you’ve had so many issues with your install. When purchasing online, especially from Ebay, this is one of the things you have to be weary of. We don’t have any authorized retailers on Ebay. So basically this can happen with sellers who don’t really know what fits your vehicle. This vehicle only takes a standard harness, not a data harness. If you search on our website Metraonline.com, you’ll see that. I have attached a screenshot below. Your quarrel is with the seller on Ebay unfortunately.

    Were u able to get the display on that new Headunit to auto dim when you turn on your headlights ? Im having a nightmare of a situation with my 2012 Civic LX. Installed a CarPlay Headunit and everything works except the auto dim. Apparently its a known issue for many ppl. Simply connecting the two orange illumination wires from the Metra harness to the new aftermarket radio harness doesn't work. At least it's not for me. What a cluster fuck!! Any advice or guidance on how to get this to work would be appreciated

    Did you hook up your original factory aux to this radio? I’m installing a pioneer unit with carplay to my 2013 lx soon and one of the reasons I bought that one was (other than huge upgrade and carplay) was because it also has aux on the back. I hate making factory features stop working that I physically cannot remove from my car, it makes it ghetto so I am going to retain the factory aux port too. I’m wondering if I can just cut the aux wire behind the dash and splice a male end 3.5 cord to it and plug it in the back of the pioneer. I already know the iMid usb has no way of hooking up to it so I already will be running the usb from the new pioneer to either the glove box or up under the center console and drill a hole in the bottom/side inside of the center console armrest compartment.

    What is the HDCC-01 used for and is it necessary to keep IMID display working?

    • @ThatHondaChannel
      @ThatHondaChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The HDCC-01 is the radio harness that integrates the factory radio plug to the new unit. It also retains the amp and clock on the imid display.

    I installed it. And radio never turned on. And the imid screen is off and rpm gauge as well. And also the eco button i have to press it on every time i drive the car. Help!!!!!

      You have to take your harness out and verify all the wiring connections are correct. Also a dying battery will cause the imid to not display.

      Axxess ASWC-1: steering wheel controls
      Metra 40-HD11: antenna adapter

    So I'm in my car as I type this. I have a 2013 civic and I am installing the Hdcc-01 as well as the aswc-1 and it seems to be doing nothing. I read that you have to run the hdcc-1 test first then follow the procedure of installing the Aswc. It seems that when I do the 30sec wait then shut off and back on a swear it's hit or miss because I've done it several times that I hear the unit go on(pioneer) but my guess is it shuts off because I get no display. Because of this I haven't even begun the aswc. I'm going nuts. Your help would be greatly appreciated

      You are exactly right my friend! Sometimes it shutoff, other times it will stay on. I went thru this for about 4 hours. So like my video said, at the 16 pin connector from the HDCC, cut the red wire, don't even connect that one. Cut your 12v switched at the radio and give it it's own 12v switched power at the fuse box, #23 i believe. Double check with a multi meter to make sure you have a switched power source. After that, check your radio and see if it cycles with they key. If it does, turn everything off and connect the ASWC. Then turn the ignition to the on position. Press the center button on the ASWC, it should flash red and green really fast. While it is flashing, PRESS and HOLD the volume up on the steering wheel. When it stops flashing, let go. If the red light goes solid, you should be set.

    What about dash kit to fit in the radio, how to arrange it?

    • @ThatHondaChannel
      @ThatHondaChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty straightforward with the supplied hardware. Just don't tighten everything that secures the radio to the dash kit as you may need to adjust it depending on what radio you have.

    • @ThatHondaChannel

      Dakota Welsh not exactly sure, as my car did not come equipped. I probably lean in the no side as some connection are present in navigation equipped models that aren't in non Navi models
