    I ironically did this to my hair out of boredom earlier today! I actually crushed some of the chalk pastel into a powder, and put small drops of water into it to make a paste. It was very effective and easier. The color has lasted throughout the whole day pretty well too without heat. I used a darkish blue

      +Aamnah Khan I didn't end up getting any on my clothes. It's pretty easy to control. Chalk pastel does wipe off clothing though easily. The paste could possibly stain if you tried to wipe it off, but would wash out

    one of the reasons it may have taken a while to get on is they were brand new, even when I'm drawing chalk pastels are hard to use at first so maybe try rubbing it on paper first... may help may not

      +OMGegee I also think it varies from brand, cheep chalk doesn't work as well as the more high end brands.

    • @OMGegee
      @OMGegee 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Madelaine Thomsen Yes I agree it would, because the more expensive brands would most likely have a higher pigment concentration however regardless of that I always find it a little easier to use after rubbing chalk pastels on paper before drawing with them

    • @WolfieSilveira
      @WolfieSilveira 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OMGegee Yeah I agree :) and once you got them soften up, you got chalk all over the place xD in your face, on your hands, and maybe on the paper too xD LOL

    if you use gloves and crush up the chalk mix it with a 1:2 ratio of the chalk and water and apply the watery mixture it work a lot better i set it with a spray gel and that worked for and i have dark curly hair and right not my hair is cotton candy hot pink

    I do this quite a bit, and I've found that its easiest to use a hard surface like a small notebook the way you were using your hand (less messy too). Also, the wetter your hair and the chalk are, the faster the color will transfer to your hair. Loved the video ❤

    I have the Splat hair chalk and they are formulated to work on dark hair so they work on both dark and light hair (I have tested on both)! You put hairspray after applying (on dry hair) to make them last and need no heat tools. Also they're about $10 each which i actually don't think is expensive considering they work and they are made for hair so they're not damaging. (also they definitely do not take as long as these pastels lmao)

  • @iluvjensen1
    @iluvjensen1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've used the Splat hair pastels in blue and Rose pink. It is messy too, but washes off easy. Last time I used latex gloves to protect my hands. With mine you are supposed to apply the color and then use hair spray to set the color and then style. My hair is a medium golden brown and needs a decent amount of product to even see the color.
    I've seen other videos using these kind of soft pastels and the color application seemed easy, but at least one of those the girl had blonde hair.
    I did a test strip using my oil based watercolor pastels just to see if that would work. You could see the color, but it was super clumpy and dried kind of brittle. That was definitely a fail.

    Don't put any type of chalk other than hair chalk in your hair.
    It dries out your hair and causes breakage.

  • @stephanienortmann4943
    @stephanienortmann4943 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I seen a couple others kind of mention maybe trying this but to seal chalk pastels when you use them to draw you use hair spray and if you do that they don't bleed or rub off would think that it would work the same way for this. That way it stays til your ready to wash out and it protects clothing or skin from rub off. I know if you do a picture with them and you don't set them with the hair spray it gets on anything that it touches. Also I second someone who said crush a little then wet that down to apply, it will still dry to chalk but would be very easy to put onto the hair. Also wash hands/ any utensils you use to apply before applying a different color, chalk pastels are meant to be blended to make new colors. So if you do blue then don't wash what your using to apply and just go to applying pink it looks slightly purple instead of pink.

  • @haileyarnette3420
    @haileyarnette3420 9 ปีที่แล้ว +55

    the pink might have turned purple because you did it after the blue 😂 so idk if that's the reason but that's what I think

    • @erinivins3316
      @erinivins3316 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did it on my toddlers dirty blonde hair and even after two washes it stayed in really well. but just try and make sure not to get it to close to the roots because it bleeds twords the end of its journey and gets on the scalp but that can be washed off. and if you don't want it to stay in as long you can skip the heating process and it lasts for one washing. but yes with blonde it is extremely pigmented

    • @toribro9199
      @toribro9199 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did this to one my nurses once and her hair stayed red/pink for over 2 weeks and she couldn't get it out, she had to get her hair redone so she could be blonde again. That may be because her hair is dyed though not sure

    • @AshleeRose
      @AshleeRose 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've heard that with regular hair chalk you're supposed to put some hairspray on when you're done because then the chalk sticks better and won't rub off. So maybe that applyes for this chalk as well! :)

    If you twist your hair when you do it it works a little better than how you were originally doing it, and it's less messy. But the chalk does dry out your hair. I used to do this with my hair when I was younger for school 😂👅

    Tip- dissolve some of the chalk to soften it in hot water... remove the hot coloured water and replace it with conditioner, mix the conditioner and the melted chalk together then just a apply with your fingers (wearing gloves) as you would with regular dye and it won't make your hair as dry ☺️

    Hey!! I love your videos, especially the fail or holy grail ones!!
    Just a suggestion for a fail or holy grail is using honey as a deep conditioner.
    Just add PURE un proccessed honey on dry or wet hair (its gonna be super sticky so just part your hair to make it easier). Once you covered all your hair clip th ends near your scalp to hold it, put a plastic bag on your hair, a hot towel, then another plastic bag. Wait for 30 mins or more and then wash it out!!!
    I had rlly dry hair and did this and my hair has felt so soft and shiny!!

    I used to do this in middle school back when my mom wouldn't let me dye my hair. I always found that oil pastels worked better but those might be less hair safe or something, never seen them mentioned in the lil pinterest/tumblr tutorials.
    OH also if you're blonde enough you can use washable crayola markers to do something like this. No idea how safe it is but it works.

    soak just the end of the pastel in some water for a minute or two first, and I'd suggest dipping the strand in a glass of water. The more you're having to rub against your hair follicle, the more damage you're doing to it, so the wetter, the better. And yes, the darker your hair the brighter the color you'll have to use and use a wide tooth comb when drying it because it will ruin a hair brush. Chalk is also naturally drying, so this isn't a method I'd suggest to constantly use and may really be best for highlighted sections only. (Also, it can ruin clothes as even with hair spray after your hair is dry, some will transfer to your clothing.)

    I knew about this before but I wanted to see some other ways of doing it and once I ombre pulped my friend honeys hair and her hair is a blondish ginger it looks gorgeous I totally recommend it

    Use a leave in conditioner instead of the water will make it brighter and go on easier and also hairspray after will keep it from rubbing off

    you can do the same thing with eye shadow the trick is instead of water you use hairspray it doesnt rub off as much and it still comes off in the shower

    Maybe if you use hair spray the color won't rub off but it looks really good!

    I use oil pastels to cur my hair, and I find that with dark hair like mine, it's best to use white and then put the colour over it

    I have done this before and here is a tip to speed it up!! Put your finger on the back of the piece of hair and hold the piece of chalk to your hair with your other finger on the opposite side then pinch the fingers towards each other and drag down. (Still get it pretty wet though both the hair and chalk)

    Does the chalk get everywhere after you flat ironed/ Curled it?? And how long does it stay in your hair?

    I wonder if you crushed the chalk and mixed it with water to form a paste, apply, let dry and brush out the excess if that would work?

    HOLA Ellko!!!! one quick question (not related to the hair chalk).... Do you have any hacks for eyebrows a.k.a. waxing, plucking, shaving... of course not all of them but shaping them up????
