As a new collector, I will say that I’ve enjoyed these restocks. I’ve been able to pick up some of the figures I’ve wanted for retail, which has been nice! As someone who came from, say MTG, where reprints were often a contentious topic, I would say that I don’t mind the pops having their restocks. I think the only real pain point is the lack of transparency with vaulting. If they were more clear and upfront about when and what was vaulted (the app isn’t the best), people could feel confident in buying chases knowing it won’t get restocked. It’s mostly the reason why I’m careful myself to buy non-vaulted chases over $40. I’m also just not at the place where I could justify dropping so much on a chase when there’s so many more figures I’d want instead.
I like how you phrase the question as is it killing the hobby instead of is it killing Funko. That's a much more honest and less click baity way to frame it.
Are they reSTOCKS or rePRINTS? I cannot imagine with that many different ones showing up, that they literally restarted the entire manufacturing chains to produce them as new re-releases... If the dates on the bottom are still the old dates, then it's just old warehouse stock that they held onto and finally decided to distribute around. And what it does to value really changes if a store got 1 or 2 of a thing in a big mixed batch of stuff, or if they got like 5 cases of 6 of each design of each thing that got fully reprinted. Really totally different scenarios.
Restocks are fine if it released within 1-2 years from the initial drop (excluding con , numbered pieces and anything 2020-2021 and back). Funko needs to be transparent when it comes to pops/ molds that go into the vault. Stuff like sith eyes anakin shouldn’t have been restocked with Walgreens sticker (overseas sticker is a different story). A pops availability /unvaulted status imo should only last 1-2 years( Max 3 years) . Give enough ppl time to grab it for retail
Transparency with this is all is key. I know they have the Funko app that says if a pop is vaulted or not. But either way, I think if it’s been within a year, restocks are fine
Restocks are fine, more collectors get to enjoy the pops, I don't care about value tho

True! Wish there was a better way to know if a pop is vaulted or not. I know the Funko app says but I’m not sure got reliable it is…

Definitely a way to look at it. Appreciate the feedback

Didn’t think about that! I’m thinking these might be reprints potentially
