Sorry, I only know Cubase 5. From what I understand Garageband doesn't have mas much functionality as some premier DAWs, I would look into it though if you're trying to do cool color stuff with your Novation
Greetings, could you please help me, I use the Daw Cubase for unknown reasons I can not use the device to play virtual instruments, consult novation launchkey49 is enabled to play virtual instruments or is not functional to play virtual instruments in cubase, I have done what the video but I only control the mixer, record, pause, etc, but the most important thing for me to play virtual instruments has not worked for me, in ableton live it works perfect for me but because of fate of destiny I feel more comfortable in cubase but I am uncomfortable that I can't play virtual instruments, could you help me with a solution
Hmm.. I've never had a problem with that... Go to the Studio menu and click Studio Setup, then check to make sure it's connected in the Midi Port Setup. If that doesn't make a difference make sure that the midi controller you're trying to use is selected on the "midi input" selection box thing on the left panel when you have the instrument track selected. Other than that I'm not sure exactly what your problem is, sorry :/
hmmm... I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. The color isn't linked to different channels, it's linked to the velocity... is that what you were asking? Sorry
Sorry for my english)) Ok. How you linked color to the velocity? I have Novation Launchkey 61 (not MK2) and Cubase LE Ai Elements 9. Thanks. I took it step by step like you showed. Everything works except for the colors. Why the 3rd MIDI channel?
I'm not sure why it wouldn't work for you. Maybe its because you have elements? I'm not sure. The 3rd midi channel is just to have another light on. You can have as many channels as you want different lights at once.
But in 1st channel is dont work for you to. Than you differ in this project, the 1st and 3rd channels? why in 1 st channel it's not linked to the velocity?
If you can, I'm not sure how to do it. I've never owned any mac products. I'm guessing there's a way through ableton and an iPad? No idea though, good luck.
Hi, if you could ever replicate this tutorial on Ableton, Logic, or Reason it would be greatly appreciated. I don't have Cubase and don't feel like paying for an eLicenser.. I've tried a lot of different tutorials and just can't get it done with rainbow colors. I can only get yellow, green, orange and red when i have a midi track running in Ableton.
I"m not exactly sure what you mean by scale, but In Cubase transpose is one of the automation options on the midi track; click the little down-arrow at the bottom-left of the track (it only appears when you hover over it), and then click on the word "volume" and that will open a selection box, select "MIDI Modifiers-Transpose" and then you can drag the "0" up and down to change how many half-steps you want to transpose. As for transposing on the novation keyboard itself , press the Octave + and - buttons at the same time, this will make the screen flash. Press + or - to transpose the keyboard by half-steps, then press +and - at the same time again to confirm. I hope that helps.
if you're trying to do the colors thing and you followed my tutorial there should be no sound because the midi track isn't outputting to a vst instrument. have you tried making a new midi track, pressing f11 to open your vst instrument panel (in cubase) and sending the midi channel to one of those?
what do you mean? I do have a legal version. Are you referencing when the dongle thing pops up when I load Cubase? Because I installed a dongle emulator so I wouldn't have to have that thing plugged in all the time taking up a USB spot on my little laptop.
Matrock Records don’t mind me. I’m not the Steinberger police. I just had a laugh when I saw that, because it’s generally a giveaway that someone’s using a pirated copy.
Yea, it is. unfortunately Steinberg hasn't come up with a better version of anti-piracy than "keep this usb stick plugged in forever" for cubase 5 so I had to "crack" the copy I paid for just to use it how I want. Maybe someday.
Hey Thanks...you just made my keyboard worth the reason I bought it. 😊

My guess is that it will. I'm not sure how to routing in FL Studio works, but my bet is that it's the same.

sorry, I'm a cubase guy :/ if you ever figure it out in reaper make a tutorial and I'll link to it
Hmm, maybe it doesn't work with the mini? Or maybe you have to choose a different output channel to get to the colors.
The Mini is only capable of 3 colours, Orange, Green, Red.

I have like 5 free codes for Ableton Lite, you want one? I've tried that already, messed a lot with the routing actually.
thx but watched this already. I tried doing that same thing but only get the colors yellow, green, orange, and red when i mess with the velocity.
