@@MoronBludgeoner Happy to help! Remember if you’re ever jamming over over a dominant 7 chord, you can always play melodic minor starting on the 5th degree of the chord. So if it’s C7, play G melodic minor, if it’s A7 play E melodic minor, and so on. It will totally transform your playing
@@chad969 huh, I didn't know that. Why does that work out? That makes the major 7th of the melodic minor key the flat 5th of the 7th chord you're playing, right? Why does that work? Just kind of like playing a blues note I guess but it sounds very different to me and very cool, kinda lydian-esque
So dope ! Been searching for a dominant chord drone to play some Lydian Dominant, I ended up mixing it with minor pentatonic, mixolydian... etc. Real funky groove on this one, makes me feel bouncy !
Being able to play around G minor penta/blues minor penta, G dorian, G mixo, and as Chad said, D melodic minor for 13 minutes straight without even thinking about it, now that's what I call a GREAT backing track. There's definitely a Dave Weckl vibe around
Can someone explain why the F major scale sounds so good over this? I came here to practice Mixo but my ear keeps wandering over to the F major scale and I don’t know enough about modes to know why I like it lol
Each note of a major scale is home to a specific "mode". F major/F Ionian mode is only one note difference than the key of G mixolydian aka C major. If you just play the scale, you'll eventually hit a Bb note, which isn't part of C major/G mixo. It would be like imposing C mixo over G mixo with the implied Bb note/major chord, giving the G7 a minor bluesy quality overall. You can view it as implying F lydian, but only if you include B natural notes (technically speaking here) because that's the mode that would be adjacent in key to G mixo and still sound good. If you just play F major pentatonic, you're golden. Really wanna spice it up/play outside G mixo, treat the G7 as G7 altered from Ab melodic minor. (Ab-Bb-Cb-Db-Eb-F-G) It only shares two notes with G mixo but works great for that jazzy "outside" stuff! Others mentioned D melodic minor in which case, play G Lydian Dominant or G whole-tone for some whacky fun licks. My go to for mixo is to mix in dorian, or in another sense, as you mentioned, playing in F major/G dorian! Sorry for the rant, but I needed to get these thoughts out as thoroughly as possible cuz I love one chord jams and improvising!

Yo le agregué dos sílabas.y canto al ritmo
That was cool. I seemed to gravitate towards G Dorian, mixing it up with the G Mixolydian and throwing in some pentatonic stuff.
This is great! Love the Mixolydian groove!!! More please... :-)

@@JungleTrack7 this is really good.. more catchy modal jamming like this or semi easy chord progressions to play through would be greatly appreciated
Kerning city vibes ❤️🥷
Lydian dominant y’all, and never forget, “your always a half step away from being in key.” We all like otherwise on occasion 😉
Now that’s a quote!
Good stuff. Well done and thanks.
Excellent jam track. Very versatile: major or minor pentatonic, mixolydian. Dorian also works. Plenty of room for blues notes.

I mixed playing F Major penta with C Major penta, worked really well. Same overall tones with some very subtle but noticeable differences.
Both are native pentatonics in G in addition to the obvious G pentatonic.
1:30 a.m and funkin' groovin'!,me and my Tele thank you.

Fellas, let me introduce you to my good friend, the "chord change"...
It is useful, sometimes, to practice different ideas over a static chord. I reality, there are more than a few tunes with static chords.
Yes sir this is groovy as hell! thanks!
