Excellent video and superbly interesting research. It helps one recognize the constraints of knowledge the pioneers of flight were up against. A refreshing reminder that should rekindle one's respect and humility for the early aviators. Thank you for sharing this!
Amazing man! Hats off to Lilienthal, and to all those who jumped off hillocks and high buildings, sometimes to their deaths, in order to make flight possible
Very interesting....I have just read that Lilienthal found the lateral control of the biplane to be on the limit of pilot weight shift capability. I once had the chance to try, but not fly, Stefan Nitsch's standard Lilienthal at the Wasserkuppe and, despite not actually getting airborne, the sensation of the wind in the wires and steadying the craft nose down into wind was an amazing experience.

So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him]. ( 2:22 ) 🔵 And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be truthful. ( 2:23 ) 🔴 But if you do not - and you will never be able to - then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.( 2:24 ) 🔵 And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with a provision of fruit therefrom, they will say, "This is what we were provided with before." And it is given to them in likeness. And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally. ( 2:25 ) ⚠️ Quran
I think the most important thing to do with a glider is to learn how to fly and how to extend one’s flight. The Wrights were able to modify their glider to support the weight of a small engine that would give them powered flight. I have to wonder whether or not the Lilienthal glider could have been so modified.
All these gliders just look like rags on a stick. But when you find out just what level of thought went into these designs, you can see these men were absolute brilliant. Obviously Otto's design was taken from a bird and the Writes was not. Leonardo I believe did something similar to Otto's design......and we all know what happened to Icarus!
First succesful flight with a glider device with goverment officials as witnesses: 1883 by Pedro Coll Font, El Calvario Park, Caracas. Official Gazette N° 3078 granted the first aeronautical patent, dated 17 Oct., 1883. After Lilienthal's flight Font Coll wrote to a french newspaper claiming it was not the first flight but his message fell into deaf ears of course, european false protagonism came first.
Thank you for your work and make it available to the general public.

So fascinating.
Thank you again!

Had the same experience with the SG38 schulgleiter on a stand. (Wasserkuppe).

Most interesting recording. Thanks
Am thinking of a manual Flying Jacket

INSPIRING and BEAUTIFUL ♥♥♥♥♥♥
that name is deltaplane since 1970
This design however light it is has a poorer glide ratio than any paper planes made by kids and the spce shuttle itself.
I got roccemended this
Am of the view that God made birds to help human beings believe in the possibility of their dreams
I’d like to see it fly above ground effect.
