    If you are young, don’t worry about the 1/10 ounce prices. I picked up 1/10 gold in the 90’s for 50 each, now I’m a few years from retirement and they’re around 230-240? Guess the “long-haul plan” worked!

    I wont lie, I’m terrible at saving cash. 1/10 gold, premium and all, are better spent on that coin than the fleeting goods I’d buy otherwise

    • @Peg-ee5ei
      @Peg-ee5ei 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Same here, Artemis. If I want to spend any of my gold or silver, it takes planning, and a process containing a couple of steps. Actual cash is not immediately available to me, so this hinders me from wasting money.

    It clicked for me when I realized, in theory, that it would be easier to sell 10 1/10oz gold coins for $240 each, than to sell 1 1oz coin for $2,400

    Great video! I acquired my first 1 oz silver coin back in December and my first 1/4 oz gold coin in January. Been hooked ever since. Managed to fill a 5 oz tube of the 1/4 oz’ers and thought I’d make the switch to 1 oz coins, but miscellaneous expenses kept sidelining me from that. Recommitted to another tube of 1/4 oz’ers and am already up to 9. Totally agree that you gotta buy what works for you.

    I'm working on a tube of 1/4 oz gold, mix of 2021 Britannia and 2021 Maples. I can't do anything larger for now and I like to pick up something monthly. If I waited to purchase a full oz I might lose interest. Premiums aside I may work on a tube of 1/10 oz gold next. Baring a major catastrophe I'm not concerned about reselling. For now it's a hobby and building an insurance policy for overall well-being.

    Everything you said makes perfect sense and that’s exactly what I doing. I was all over the place with silver coins when I started, then I realized that I can afford fractional gold.. And after that I never looked back. I converted most of my silver and “collectible” US coin into 1/10 oz AGE and I’m very happy I did that. It takes way less space and it’s so much easier to liquidate than 1 oz gold. Still have some silver, but gold is gold!.. :)

    When it comes to gold, I subscribe to the old adage, "One in the hand beats two in the bush". Depending on your financial situation, a lot can happen in the amount of time it takes you to save up for (1) 1 oz gold coin or bar. Personally, I'd rather have even just one or two tenths of an ounce than excess fiat (above and beyond my emergency cash stash) sitting around waiting to be converted to real money if the spot price and/or premiums were to sky rocket, or things were to go south. Additionally, while it cost more in the long run, my first ounce came the hard way (1, 5, and 10 gram bars), but I felt quite a sense of accomplishment... For what that's worth.

Such a easy and convenient transaction for life’s emergencies but with the last dip who can turn down 1/10 for 204-220🤷🏻‍♂️ i think people need to let go of the premium issue and look at fractional gold the way they do constitutional silver! I mean if shit hits the fan or precious metals double good luck with them silver kilo bars and 1oz gold coins... but you said it best “stack accordingly” if you can afford em great but even if you got 50 1oz eagles youd be a fool not to have at least a fistfull of 1/10ozrs

    Problem with fractional gold is you pay a premium on each coin and a Minting Fee. So, you pay much more for 10 1/10th oz. gold coins than if you buy a 1 ounce gold coin. You'd be better off to buy a valcambi card that breaks in 1 gram fragments. My opinion....thanks for your video

    • @floridastacker
      @floridastacker  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's looking at it Soley from the value perspective in my opinion. The utility aspect is that Silver Stackers buy Fractional Gold. It's within their budget making the coins incredibly easy to sell. Also, those premiums you mention evaporate over time as Gold spot price rises and you get the higher premium back when selling 10 x 1/10th oz Gold Coins vice 1 lonely 1 oz Coin. Obviously if you can afford to hold wealth in 1oz Gold that's the standard. But many are quick to call out the premiums and leave out the added utility factor and premiums returned when selling over spot.

      @@floridastacker Yep, I have to agree, fractional gold has its place. My strategy has been to buy gold in 1 ounce boullion i.e. eagles, buffalos and then several monster boxes of silver eagles and $100 dollar face bags of dimes and quarters. The "junk silver" is for buying everyday items, i.e. bread, batteries, etc. The gold ounces are to take advantage of the assets on fire sale that will happen when people are starving for liquidity. Y'know, during the inflation in Weimar, Germany, 25 ounces of gold would buy a city block. So that is why I have the gold in ounces. Also it is easily moved (a lot of value in a small package). You are right about the premiums being negligible if the price of gold soars, but, my strategy is to hold a lot of junk silver to make everyday purchases. Also, I bought a couple of Valcambi 50 gram bars that you can break off like gold chocolate bars in i gram pieces.... All the best.

    Premiums on 1/10ths have been fairly reasonable recently - especially on Phils and Britannias It's not easy for most people to save up 1900 bucks for a 1 ozt coin, and tenths have been in the low 200's recently. I don't recommend 1 gram bars, though. If you can save up 80 bucks for a gram - it's better to wait and get that tenth.

      "Besides a 1/10 oz is going to be worth way more in an SHTF econonic collapse scenario." What is your reasoning for that conclusion? In a scenario where everyone is trying to barter with gold, the supply of gold will be high, and thus the prices will be lower.

    As a rule, the gold bars are a little more economical. They're not as pretty but they're a better value for straight bullion. As for coins, the Austrian Philharmonics are the best value. Like the man says, it might be easier to sell a fractional than an ounce coin or bar. 5 gram bars don't cost a whole lot more than tenth ounce coins. I don't recommend buying anything less than a 5 gram bar.
