Pleasantly surprised to find the Vietnam war series isn’t done. My grandad was a combat engineer during the Tet offensive. Really appreciate these.

The ssh-60 has higher rivets because it has the same liner as the 68, but unlike most other ssh or soviet bloc helmets it has a separate lower chinstrap rivet.

Nice video!By the way,China had sent a bunch of "experimental steel helmet"to north vietnam, which is the first steel helmet designed by China itself,it looks like a hybrid of type90 and ssh40.sorry for my poor English.

The PAVN also used French Adrian helmets like the M26 , I have seen photos of the "Militia" and Medics wearing Adrians, when the liners wore out they often used a piece of burlap or cloth for the liner or wore a cap with their helmet as the liner.

The m35 was the only model used by the Chinese military, because the German alliance shifted to imperial Japan in 1937. Germany needed ports and trade to build their economy and China wanted to modernize their military. So that’s why the Chinese nationalists wore m35 stahlhelms and some German equipment. But it could be possible that the Vietcong and NVA could have been issued an m40-m42 because of surplus and ditched German equipment to be sent to communist countries in a war effort. I know that the Vietcong did get their hands on stg-44’s and wernacht weapons if I recall.

Hey Mike. Any plans on doing any Korean War vids? I feel like that conflict doesn't get enough exposure. It would be cool to see what equipment and uniforms both sides were rocking.

Possibly eventually. I would like to learn more about that conflict myself, and have had quite a lot of requests for it. Who knows, this winter is supposed to suck, so I may get bored and motivated to learn more and teach.

M56 helmet and body armor mostly used by NVA truck driver along the Ho Chi Minh trail. Because the most threat for them are fragments from aerial bombing.
