Do I have a baby? No. Am I traveling anytime soon? No. Still going to watch the video? I sure am.

Don't check carseats! They get thrown around and jostled, often times with the same force as a car crash. It's also MUCH safer and MUCH easier to have baby properly restrained in the carseat on the plane. Most airlines will sell you a seat for half the price if you call and tell them it's for a baby. Think about it. If even the coffee pot is restrained when it's not in use, your child should be too.

Miles is so adorable! I’ve flown several times with babies/small children and after doing some research learned that it’s so much safer for the baby to have its own seat on the airplane and use their car seat on board. Checking a car seat can damage the plastic as you don’t see how it’s thrown around by the baggage handlers. Just something to think about for future trips.

I still think it’s a great investment to buy the baby his/her own ticketed seat. I liked being able to keep our car seat with us and use it on the plane 😊☺️😊 The extra room is a lifesaver too!

When you get to the gate ask if they have any extra seats, you'll get one for free ;)

I wish that all flights would allow this. We are flying in a month and they won't allow babies under 2 their own seat. They have to sit on your lap.

Wow, really great job!!! I have flown with my 4-y/o about 10x in her life (first time 6 mos) and have NEVER been asked for a birth certificate! So sorry you had to deal with that! Truthfully, 6 mos is the easiest time to fly with baby (IMO) followed by the most challenging 1yr-2yrs, and then it gets easier again. My pediatrician OK’d using Benadryl if needed. I think we only used it 2x but it was a godsend. I have a list of my favorite Amazon toys for airplanes if you’d like! Also, I save lollipops and gummies exclusively for airplanes. That way she is so excited to have them and it’s super distracting. And with all this being said, if I have learned anything it’s that we have no control whatsoever! Both trips and baby’s behavior can be so unpredictable. I could have the best toys and the best plan but really what you need is to keep your sanity and patience and roll with everything. :)

Southwest is the only airline that required birth certificate from my experience. I flew with United and American and none of them asked for it from me. But calling the airline ahead of time is a great idea.
I also agree with you, carrier is easier than stroller to use while going through the airport. Even while pregnant, it was easier for me to keep my toddler on me than the stroller.

Great tips even for people without kids lol! You should look into one of those cloth plane tray table covers! I received one as a gift when I was like 9 and it's a LIFE SAVER since you have little pockets to store things accessibly during takeoff and landing while also not having to touch the dirty tray itself. I think it would be awesome for kids too!

Great video. We flew with our 2 year old to Germany. Luckily, it was before 9/11 and was much easier on many levels, it seems, than traveling now, but many of your suggestions apply no matter when you are traveling with little ones. Miles looks like a sweetheart the whole time. Before that, when we flew with our son as an infant, I remember grabbing his birth certificate just because I figured: how else could I prove he was ours if someone took him from me and said - prove it? Would be hard, anyway, but at least I might have a fighting change with that document. Criminals exist.

I’m curious if they would accept a picture of the birth certificate 🤔 I have definitely heard of people almost missing their flights because they didn’t have the certificate though

Great video! I enjoyed the vacation pictures too! I think Miles is just a chilled little man! Mama needs a martini too and glad you eventually got one Mother’s Day!! 🍸
