I met James in 1974 at a concert at The Grand Ole Opry House, never knew much about him until that night, his music and his humble spirit changed my life, been a huge fan every since, his songs just bring a peace to my soul and spirit when i'm at my lowest, i put on one of JT's cd's and it just brings me into a peaceful place. Thank ya James for sharing your gift of music with me and the world.
Fell in love with Valerie Carter while watching this concert, but did not know who she was. So poised and beautiful, and obviously feeling the music. RIP, Valerie. You touched people just by being with us for a short while. I hope to sing with you in the next dimension.
Never got to see James in concert but feel like I knew him and his siblings. I never heard a JT song I didn't appreciate. "Fire and Rain" and "Millworker" as well as "Sweet Baby James" come to mind first, but really a fan since his album I somehow acquired through a friend (on Apple records). Listen to James at least once a day still. Thank you, James Taylor for your unique perspective on life and being along with Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Carole King and so many more the greatest generation of music (including the singer/songwriters) of all time. I had a chance to see Carole King/James Taylor with my brother who died two years ago and did not go due to personal commitments to other family members. I have my memories that I will never lose though. James Taylor's music inspired a generation many who are still fans. I am just one.
i am a filipino fan of sir James... i was wondering their voice since 170's upto now 2022 including those singers singing within are not change... thank sir James for an inspirational songs who make my life complete even though it hard to recover from pandemic
Such a wonderful song! And James Taylor's voice didn't change nor deteriorate after all these years. The kind of music I'll never get enough listening to.
@@FirstSonsMotif as the fantastic Irish expression goes, "Always the bitter word..." James Taylor is a national treasure. Of course his voice has changed - he's getting older. That's what happens. Drugs, lol
I wonder too if this is his life, and I can’t help to feel nostalgic like it’s me in his life. Wondering that “moment” in his life when he wrote the song
@@nathrach6093 If you look at the Squibnocket videos, there are four people in the group that have since passed away. Some of those folks were together a long time.
Is it just me, or has his voice gotten richer and mellower with age? I think he sounds a ton better now than in the 70s. And those four backup vocalists --- the perfect compliment for his voice.
yes you do..forever...stand up we need you..no fading away., I hear you...out in the dark...stories to hear...I have no doubts about you...no do not die to yourself...stand and fight..for you...you are not shrinking?..do not fade away....stand and fight for...
He opened with it for over a year after the release of Before this World. I saw him during that time and he opened with this one leading into Secret O’Life.

James is awesome, but the drugs did take an effect on him. Listen to his BBC concert and you can see what i mean.
Well this clip is 20 years old...his voice did kind of give a bit, but he's 71 now. Still a national treasure.

I like the fact that James Taylor himself describes this as an 'old folk song'. He never claimed to have wrote it.
Who wrote this song?😊
No one knows who wrote it but it originates at the turn of the 20th century long before James Taylor was born. @@danfromcanada151
