Dr. Vikas Divyakirti, who runs IAS coaching, shared his thoughts on this subject. He mentioned that one meaning of dharm is (svabhaav), and to illustrate this point, he gave several examples. For instance, he said that the (svabhaav) of fire is to burn, so its (dharm) is to burn. Similarly, the nature of water is to quench thirst, so its (dharm) is to quench thirst, and so on.
According to this perspective, if this is considered true, it would imply that the (svabhaav) of a thief is to steal, hence stealing becomes their (dharma), and so forth.
