My suspicion is that she's gonna debut with this group to make herself known before debuting with SR17G. SM is not stupid enough to let go of this princess, she has the talents in singing, dancing, and even her visual is outstanding, plus, she has a stable fanbase waiting for her to debut... and she is british, who doesn't love her British accents???
