Lionel 8516 MPC Switcher and Marx 490 with Chug sound!

Visited one of my local train stores here in Delaware, the Antique Station at 1697 S Dupont Hwy, St Georges, DE 19733

and came home with a box of trains to enjoy including a Lionel 8516 0-4-0 switcher that came from the Lionel Yard Chief set released during the last year of the Lionel Fundemensions MPC era in 1985. Also included in my box was a Marx 490 train set including a chug chug primitive analog sound system, tender & cars from the tail end of the Marx Toy company's business that closed 1975. Just a cleaning and lubrication and these are all running like new. Enjoy the run on my 4x8 oval.

Nice find Bruce. Everything is in great shape and runs really well. I have a Marx locomotive with that flapper type sound effect as well. For what it’s worth, it’s pretty interesting what ideas came from that era. It’s all good. It’s part of the history. Tom

Nice video and train purchase. If you ever want to put a headlight lens on the Marx 490, here's a cheap & easy way to do so. Just cut the pin part off a clear push pin and glue the top half into the headlight hole on the front of the boiler.
