Dormant grass seeding, I did this late fall. I have a three blend tall fescue. One of the blends is Jackpot Kentucky Blue grass. I'm trying this method for the first time . Only in a few thin spots that didn't come in this fall overseeding. The ground temperatures needs to be 40° for at least a week. Once, that's accomplished rough the spots up to make sure you get seed to soil contact. The natural moisture in the winter will keep the soil moist. It's ideal to plan the seeding around rain or snow in the forecast.
I am going to SEED in the SPRING. A smart man learns from HIS mistakes and a wise man learns from the mistakes of OTHERS. I am going to be wise. I am going to put down GCI Spreader Elite at 6 pounds per 1000 sq ft. I think.
Happy New Year Mr Fergy! Thanks for all your teachings this past year...I have learned an awfully lot and you are the man that got me started into my re-education !
Seeding has been tough this yr . Temps here in socal just wont drop *... We are in the sixties and right back up to seventies this week . HNY everyone.🙏🏼
Did half renovation in 2024 fall. Turned out great, small spots that need to be overseeded. Plan to do other half in spring 2025. Thought is I can kill off the weeds before mid spring spreads anything into the completed half. Either way its experience.
Diet wise I have done a lot of experimenting. In 2016 I went from SAD( standard American diet) to Keto which I liked but noticed I did lose some strength that I blame the reduced protein intake it did reduce my appetite which led me to intermittent fasting, in 2019 I tried Carnivore which you eat just meat after watching a Joe Rogan podcast with Dr Shawn Baker I thought eating just meat sounded weird but tried anyways. I now have my morning coffee and eat 1x a day between 2-4pm and it’s all meat it is simple and surprisingly you don’t get hungry, hunger is just a hormone response your body is reminding you to eat
You can plant grass seed in Spring, but it depends on the grass type. TTTF is good but it needs time to develope it's deep roots, planting in Spring won't do that. But PRG has short roots, establishes fast. I planted my PRG front yard in early May 2023. It established, did well, helped I have a tree infront that doesn't allow it to get scorched allday by the summer sun. But I watered every 3 days through summer, it all survived, & i then overseeded in fall. I tried to do same with backyard with TTTF bc it gets all sun through the summer. Half of it died bc roots weren't established enough, so had to overseed heavily in fall.
Great points! Like with everything in lawncare there is always give and take. Very few hard and fast rules. Bring on spring baby!!
Enjoyed the podcast with diy a couple of days ago. Have a great day sir and thank you

Have you done any winter dormant seeding?
I have not. Done a little of this in the past, but not recently.

My dog has messed up some spots… can I throw some seeds down now ?
@@lesliehoward6711 yes, I would tear up the area and 1/2” deep or so, throw some down and water as you can. Should fill in nice by Spring
