Hi Ma'am! I am applying for PhD in Public Policy at IIM Bangalore. I have cleared UGC-NET and not JRF. Am I exempted from writing the IIM- B test or only JRF-qualified candidates are exempted?
I have applied for Phd in Economics in IIM Bnagalore in January 2024 and they will conduct a separate area test in Economics subject other than standard tests. Can you please tell what type of questions were asked in area test, duration, and marking scheme of the test. I am currently living in Delhi. What will be the mode of interview for other states candidates. Can you please tell briefly how was your overall interview experience at the campus. I have also sent you LinkedIn request

1. You can read some policy briefs to get an idea about the current policies and the scope for improvement. 2. Prepare basic mathematics and econometrics. 3. Practice data analysis and logical reasoning questions in aptitude tests.
The IIM PhD program is a full-time program with no part-time option available. In the past, some civil servants have pursued their PhD studies within this program. If you are considering such a pursuit, it may be beneficial for you to engage in discussions with these individuals to gather insights and information regarding study leave rules that may apply to your situation.
Ma'am for a non Economics and non Public Policy students , what are the subjects/topics should they prepare for PhD in Public Policy interviews at IIM/IITs?
Prepare 1. Introductory Microeconomics. You can read Hal Varian or watch online videos. 2. Basic Econometrics. Read Gujrathi and Woolridge. 3. Mathematics upto class 12. 4. Info on popular public policies in the development area you wish to research on. 5. Randomised control trials and other ways evaluate the impact of a policy
You are eligible to apply in that case, without a CAT/GRE score. Depends on which subject you cleared your NET in and which area you are applying for. NET JRF doesn't exempt you from the written exam or interview at IIMB.
Congratulations for joining IIM Bangalore (One of the prestigious institute if the country)😊
